My X220 is overheating quite a bit, I have replaced the thermal paste recently (around june last year) so I don't think that is the issue.TPFanControl reports the fan is speeding up to 7500 to 8000 RPM, and it is certainly making noises as if it was that fast, but I don't feel much airflow from it.Did I fuck up the fan reinstall when I was closing it all back up? Furthermore Chinese greed neglects and purposely does not reward ingenuity, it only rewards the vermin level. So what actually happens inside the computer when you compile and execute a program
I COME FROM THE NET
I just bought a 32Gib 512nvme i7-9850H quadro t1000 with a 4k panel for $400 on eBay (and uncle sam fucked me for 40 in taxes and 20 in shipping)--and I am regretting it and wish I bought the cheaper $330 1080p 48gib option but bought this one because I thought that the 4k panel might be good since 1080p is a bit bad for split screen latex but am now regretting it since it will- Drain battery faster (might take up 20% extra)- Be a pain to use because I will be forced to set it to 200% scaling for a good experience with my external 1080p monitors (probably, I have never used 4k but xorg will likely strangle me too)- Cost more- Doesn't have as much ram- At 15.6" and normal sitting, I probably won't ever noticeI don't think it has been shipped yet but also don't want to try to return it since that might make me an asshole...I will have to go check if the seller even accepts returns...I am really crying over this...why is life so hard?

I know not what career I even want to go into, as per an earlier post. Should anything but not being a leech to society and those around me be valued? I legitimately am unsure of what I care about nor do I know how to understand it; I merely exist, sans comprehension of my emotions.>Gender and mental health labels aren't a substitute for that.I don't think of myself as merely a set of labels; labels are just useful for describing to others how I feel without needlessly describing what they can infer through said labels. It is vastly more conveniently to note one is "likely trans" than fulling explaining the entirely of the emotions, experiences, and thoughts that are the reasoning--even more so given this is inherently a shorted lived conversation on a board where transness and questing one's life is not the main focus.>Here's one thing that isn't examined: $70 is a lot, but $400 for a laptop with hardware you don't even need isn't? It doesn't make any sense.$70 wasted on something that I have no good use for is different than were there is good use. I will need a laptop at some point in the coming future. Yes, I could get something cheaper--I would still be able to make it work even if annoying. The $400 that was originally thought was with the intent of selling my current desktop and solely using the laptop to replace it, meaning that the cost would have been offset. This is still valid through and is making me be further dissuaded from getting anything at this point.[cont.]

I am well aware that Linux is liberal in its caching usage when nothing else is using ram. I should also try setting up zram but was avoiding that to make it feel any more latent in usage.>>life insurance>Insurance always has negative expected value. Put your money elsewhere at this point in your life. If you examine how things are with your mom and find they really are bad, give it to her. You don't need to use tone indicators here either. They make you look stupid. This was said in response to the tone of the post I was replying to--it was not meant as an endorsement of getting life insurance as a long term investment but rather as part of a (somewhat more) responsible suicide plan. This was also partly in jest given that suicide isn't typically covered for young people and often requires many years of already being on a plan, which at its lowest would line up with the previously mentioned two year goal of either being in a better place in life or rm -rfing myself with a hope of not causing too many problems for others. I included the tone indicator precisely to indicate that I was not flatly referring to doing so as an investment. (NB: I do find tone indicators quite stupid in most cases though.)[cont.]

So I have an external drive for some files and Steam. I kinda use it for both Linux and Windows. How I should format it? Should I leave it as NTFS or I should install some driver on windows to read these new formats? I read somewhere that exfat isn't good because it's easy to corrupt stuff, but NTFS support is limited on Linux.

Have you ever considered the possibility that some day normal consumer won't be able to afford a computer anymore? With GPU and RAM price increases, this nightmare scenario seems likely.Wireless Internet connections might also get so full of traffic that one day fast Internet will be a luxury as well.1. Give people cheap tech so they get dependent on it.2. When they're addicted, start ramping up the price + scarcity3. WinMe? I'm already learning ways to survive without technology. In a few years you might have to live without tech.
>>107739312nah computers have gotten 1000x in the past 15 years meh. I don't need the newest gayming slop.
>>107739312No, because I never thought I would live in a world where the SEC and FTC do not exist as entities anymore because a President thought it was more profitable to defraud the US populace than regulate things.Right now: It's more profitable to price gouge and blame AI If anything that were happening now were happening during the Biden or Obama administration, the SEC and FTC would both be launching massive anti-consumer investigations on if the AI market REALLY needs every single chip an entire industry produces when they don't have the datacenters ready to use what they got. Unfortunately, we live under Orange Retard who has systematically dismantled all consumer protections and is selling each and every piece of what was once the best Tech sector to Chyna and India. So we don't get consumer protections that the "Useless" FTC and SEC used to do to prevent price gouging on such widespread scale. Instead, we enter QE so our tax dollars can insure loans that these same AI companies take out to buy the entire DRAM chip market, again with our taxes, that we'll never get in return as the prices surge and all consumer hardware eventually becomes rent-to-own. Isn't that funny? Not only will shitters on /v/ defend this, they also believe this is going to get better like the 70 billion that has been printed to loan to AI companies will just magically 'trickle down' to the consumer eventually. >1. Give people cheap tech so they get dependent on it.>2. When they're addicted, start ramping up the price + scarcity>3. WinComment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>107749006>When it hits 90% most people will be a non factor in the economy. And the actual truth of the matter: We hit that threshold ages ago. We now print so much money that the entirety of consumer spending can't compare to the amount of money printed every month as low-interest loans to the tech sector.infinite money trick: Make everyone an agrarian farmer who has a net worth of approx. zero while you use jewish money tricks to infinitely divide all of the money that would have gone to their wages in a functioning society. Then call this capitalism and say the underclass deserved it and are just lazy.
>>107739312That's actually the goal. The future 5-10 years from now is low powered hardware (computers, smartphones, consoles...) that will serve as a terminal to run cloud apps/games from large publishers. Since hardware is costly, the publishers themselves will rent the hardware on AWS/Azure/GCP who will fund Nvidia/AMD. You'll pay a subscription to any app/game you need. This will kill piracy, second-hand market and indies (which is very desirable). You will own nothing and you will be happy.
>>107748274For content creation, I know some app exist. But, damn, is the small screen and he fact that you hide the screen when you try to interact is a no go for me.>>107748581Eyup, I agree. My point was "with a phone, you can't be as productive as on a computer".Turns out that video editing is okay (I suppose), but for development, I tried myself, and it's really unpleasant. And I plugged an external keyboard (and even mouse) to try to ease it.But, yeah, you can't develop real programs on phone.(can you even develop an app on a phone!?)>>107749182As long as you can have hardware at all, their will be ways to do things. The problem is when all these things will be illegal because "think of mhu children!"
