>>107621849Typo. The USB4 controller itself is actually connected over PCIe 5.0 x4, accepting two PCIe 4.0 USB4/TB devices with full bandwidth. >>107621865>M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 that share with the x16 slot (so if you use an M.2 in the 2nd or 3rd slots you cut your GPU bandwidth in half). Also I don't have that faggotry. First PCIe slot is always 5.0 and x16, can only bifurcate.
>>107621897Since I have 5 M.2 slots, I'm fine with it. I can use 3 of them without impacting the GPU lanes.

Everytime I use my unmodified smartphone or Discord my friends I feel like a fucking idiot, knowing for all my privacy conciousness and stress I still do this since the last 10 years from my teens to adulthood, knowing these schmucks know what devices I use, who I am, where I live, my psych profile, who I have sex with, everything for all I know. It makes me want to puke.So why can't I or all my other peers drop this fucking ring?
>>107621201outside of your schizo techbro friend group, no. normies want normie apps and will think you're a weirdo for wanting to use privacy-friendly alternatives. they don't seem to operate on objective facts but instead rely on social consensus, and if you threaten the consensus by pointing out that normie messaging apps are basically spyware then you're the issue, not the apps, regardless of the facts at hand. they would need something like a big news story that would break into the mainstream for them to change their minds because that's where the new consensus will be. i don't understand this thinking myself but it is what it is, you can't have "privacy" and not be seen as more or less schizophrenic.
>>107621159Holy shit first time seeing a zoomer care for privacy. It must be raining cats in hell right now.

Why does an AMD GPU use more vram than an Nvidia one
>>107620995For the same reason DX12 apps don't work well with Nwordia on Linux - optimization issues. "Huang first" is the modus operandi for game developers simply because there's more Nvidia users (and Mr. Jacket sends loads of money to those who suck his cock).

>>107621380banking website status?
I don't know the first thing about browser engines so can someone explain to me why it takes so much manpower to make something that isn't just a fork of an existing browser, like why is the market 90% different flavors of chromium? For most programs if I don't want to use commercial spyware I can get some form of foss equivalent hacked together by a ragtag group of misfits on GitHub and it'll do the job just as well if not better than the "real" thing. But browsers require the development ability of a major corporation or a puppet foundation in order to create something decent. What makes it so hard?
>>107621847HTML was a mistake. CSS was an even worse mistake on top of that. JS was a disaster.
>>107621847It actually really doesn't. I have a friend who writes his own browsers as a hobby. What was the greatest graphics card ever? I'm thinking it was the 9800gtx. Having this in '08 was like unlocking every game in existence.
>>107598030I've never felt as much envy as seeing the benchmarks for the 8800gtxIf you had that card you were ballinThose early DX10 days seemed wild
>>107598030Can it play 4k?
>>107598030>9800gtx>An old GeForce 9800 GTX struggles with native 4K video playback due to its age, limited VRAM (512MB), lack of modern hardware decoding for high-bitrate codecs (like HEVC), and old DVI/VGA outputs, but it can display a 4K resolution via Dual-Link DVI for desktop use, though streaming 4K Netflix/DRM content is a definite no-go, requiring newer GPUs with hardware support for PlayReady 3.0. For actual 4K video playback (especially streamed or modern formats), you'll likely see stuttering or failure; it's best for retro gaming at 1080p or lower. A shitty 200$$ laptop can play 4k
>>107598030Probably the Sapphire 7970 Toxic. 6GB of VRAM, fast as fuck, not too expensive, DX12. People talk about the 1080 Ti having a long lifespan but this one really did.

For me, it's the kitty terminal emulator.
>>107621063HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH, SAME.
>>107620946Bloat
I've used it. But it takes simply too long to startup (even with -1). Next tried alacritty, despite rust, it's better than kitty and ghostty (which is better than kitty). Now am using patched st which is working perfectly for me.
>>107620946https://pastebin.com/2YxSP8Cz>>107621009jeet copeware.>>107621523Alacritty is slow for me. Can't hold the down key through a 1000+ line file without freezing. It doesn't seem to actually use my gpu. I finally got upset enough to move. I was about to go with using tilda specifically for vim, but then I read wezterm's docs. It's basically alacritty, but faster, has the features that alacritty doesn't, (like images, emoji, and ligatures), while still having vim-mode copy/visual selection. The search feature uses ctrl-shift-f and enter/arrows. I might care to change that at some point.
>>107621645I'd like to note that the effect, where black background colors of text cells isn't transparent (even though the transparent background color of the terminal is also black), isn't possible in kitty or ghostty.
