I just want the ability to do a point-in-time restore at any time, or git clone my current system onto a new device, for instance. It has proven super handy.

I have also set up several companies on similar systems using Docker/Ansible/Kubernetes as a part of my day job. It makes it really easy to cookie cutter as many boxes as you need.

>>107618345
The job part especially makes sense. Most would probably make scripts but this approach is pretty neat too.

If you run out of or run low on storage space and can't easily do some things, then you may have to use that old laptop as network-attached storage for BitTorrent or whatever. (Thinking of my situation when writing this.)

>>107617763
So that "distro" (really just a pile of crappy .sh and dotfiles files on top of basic Arch) got financial support from Clownflare and some other company. Those companies should have gave money to the Lubuntu team >>107615380

Also
>Given that numerous YouTubers have been heavily promoting the project over the past few weeks, often in the same breath with Framework (Computer Inc.), it wouldn’t be surprising to see the company soon offering it as a pre-installation option on their hardware.
Next up: YouTuber scum do pump and dump on the newest "flashy"/"cool" Linux distro. One month later all the "curl | sh" go to ransomware software and said scum (those who developed it and those who hyped it) get paid in secret.

Anon you are being raped. I fucking got more from my first job out of college as a gov software tester 10+ years ago.

Your car means shit if the pay is so low you'd be living in a cardboard box w/o your parents. Actually, maybe they gave the car to you as a housing bonus.

Anyways, ask for raise and try to look at other jobs near you for a feel of what you should be making. Shit go look up a federal pay table and add 20k to what you see if you need a start (hint you'd be grade 7-9 fresh out of school by said table).

>perhaps I should get into this stuff to make some money too
Because 90+% of buyers are like OP and either never use even 10% of max storage capacity, or they just use it to backup data without ever verifying the data integrity - by the time they need to retrieve it it's already well past all warranties, and they probably just shrug off the data being corrupted being caused by the device being too old.

>>
>>107615444

I think of Windows like a sticker book and the stickers themselves software. Over time, the pages get pretty messy over time because I’m constantly putting stickers on and taking them off the pages.

In the amount of time it would take to troubleshoot why Windows’ audio settings shit the bed going from 23H2 to 24H2, I elect to instead just collect current installations of everything I use and start fresh with 25H2. Just throw the old paper away and start over.

There may be some things to pick up from that statement. its not even a big issue with him specifically because he at least recognizes that incandescent is an extremely pleasant form of light and pushes for better made LED products. Lighting is extremely important at least to people with a soul and i do not understand why LEDrones absolutely froth at the mouth when i say the lights look like fucking shit.

The solution is to make LED lights that look more incandescent, not give up on LED technology altogether. The amount of heat that radiates from incandescent bulbs permanently deters me from using them in my home because it's already hot enough in here without running goddaamn heat lamps everywhere

LEDs can do this already. it's called "warm white" set to 2000-3000K
you can buy it in this variant, and hell, with adjustable bulb types you can choose the brightness and color profile via an app or a physical switch on the bulb itself.
the issue is systemic - the general populace have chosen bright white to blue white because it gives the most output. it's not the evil work of the underground LED tribunate it's fucking democracy manifest

Yes we know. It isn't a concession. I am simply not going to waste anymore time arguing with a retard who also happens to be very bad at trolling and shilling against an entire family of OSs. Since it's obvious you have no idea what you're talking about. An idiot that spent 5 minutes reading the introduction of the handbook knows more than you do about OpenBSD. I suggest you go read it if you're going to continue attempting farming (you)s in the future. You'll get no more of them from me.
