Terry used Unity? He might not actually be as much of an edgy fuckwit as I thought. Unity is the greatest thing to happen to Linux since the kernel.

I'm sorry, faggot. In the future I'll be less harsh on other faggots, faggot. But seriously, Linus (Fake surname) has said a bunch of shit like that over the years, like how he thinks desktop Linux is stupid
>>
>>107703823
Only because the dumb faggot installed Ubuntu when unity was new and then just never updated past Ubuntu 8 (back when they were using single digit version numbers instead of year.month)

Only cares about the kernel so he would also use anything just that it has to be up to date
Arch takes 15 minutes to install with full kde desktop environment, sound, WiFi and everything. I'm tired of relying of other distros default shit. I wanna use something that doesn't piss me off. The only way to do that is to start with a clean base.

Yes, I know bond yields are separate; you’re saying that the problem is that the bonds wouldnt appreciate quickly enough to keep up with inflation, got it. Still, this could be preferable to a general decline in the market or staying in cash. I agree that jumping to gold/silver/bitcoin is not the way to go.
>>107704886
Yes, but this is just my point. Stocks can remain in bubble territory for a long time so long as nobody calls bullshit (even if they’re thinking it). Tesla is a good example actually. They make a lot of promises that never amount to anything and they don’t make much revenue relative to their stock price. Still, line go up and line stay up. I’m just wondering if anything short of Taiwan invasion will pop the bubble; people seem content to park their money in AI stocks.
>>
>>107703999
who the fuck needs profits when they just inflate the fuck out of their stock by using the unspent cash they've managed to save for decades?
>>
It's not a bubble
Industries across the planet are being reshaped, software engineer is pretty much a dead job, AI is ALREADY making fuckloads of money and its still in the early adoption phase
Post-scaleout when all those data-centres are online its going to be fucking insane.
>>
>>107704944
>Still, this could be preferable to a general decline in the market or staying in cash.
Probably yes.
But it's shitty situation regardless.

Whereas riding the bubble up and jumping off one nanosecond before it pops would be ideal - and that's what most investors are gambling on (and most will lose and cry).
And sure some investors are more sensible and get out sooner (me included) but fund managers who do this will see their customer base leave very quickly so sometimes the irrational thing is the more rational thing.

>The development comes a little over a year after the tech giant [Google] disclosed that its transition to Rust led to a decline in memory safety vulnerabilities from 223 in 2019 to less than 50 in 2024.

>The company pointed out that Rust code requires fewer revisions, necessitating about 20% fewer revisions than their C++ counterparts, and has contributed to a decreased rollback rate, thereby improving overall development throughput.

>We adopted Rust for its security and are seeing a 1000x reduction in memory safety vulnerability density compared to Android's C and C++ code. But the biggest surprise was Rust's impact on software delivery," Google's Jeff Vander Stoep said. "With Rust changes having a 4x lower rollback rate and spending 25% less time in code review, the safer path is now also the faster one

>With roughly 5 million lines of Rust in the Android platform and one potential memory safety vulnerability found (and fixed pre-release), our estimated vulnerability density for Rust is 0.2 vuln per 1 million lines (MLOC).

>Our historical data for C and C++ shows a density of closer to 1,000 memory safety vulnerabilities per MLOC. Our Rust code is currently tracking at a density orders of magnitude lower: a more than 1000x reduction.

If you're working just so you don't go insane, why would you bother going insane in this economy? It's cooked despite what the numbers say.

>how would you explain the need for encryption to a idiot/normie
when you send a password plaintext through a network you do not have full control over, at any point when going through unknown parts, the password can be intercepted by a party not meant to have it

using encryption, while the data is sent between unknown services, only the end service is able to view the password.

this is fucking hilarious. doesn't matter if apex, valorant, rust, cs2 faceit or any other league. any FPS is currently unplayable because kids run color/ML aimbots on their second pc and forward inputs to their gayming pc with this 40$ passthrough device. and all the jeet AC devs are too stupid to write an aimbot detection algo that doesn't result in 6 million false positive bans. (the valorant jeets literally used their RAT malware anticheat to check&ban players that stream a centered screen region which is smaller than 512x512 pixels).

Well, to be frank, it's why I don't play many competitive video games anymore.
I used to find joy in honing my skill in a fun game and climbing the ranks, but it is a huge buzzkill to just have some subhuman come through with hacks and circumvent all of that. Even worse that these 'people' (much like fitness influences) will claim their abilities are all natural because they have to keep the revenues flowing in.

It just sets a fucked up and completely unrealistic standard for people. You have a lot of people out there thinking they're bad at something, when in reality the 'best' are just lying cheaters.

By why though?

Stroustrup was crying that his lang was under 'serious attack', so surely there should be plenty incentive for much needed and desired improvement now right?
>>
>>107701771
The ISO standard committee is in charge, and they are malicious. Even the first standard in 1998 made some fundamental decisions which ruined the language. I believe the standard committee is a cult of Slaanesh, they empower their dark god through the suffering of millions of programmers. Every single feature added to c++ is carefully crafted to induce despair, each feature crafted to be just barely useful, whilst being as hideous and awkward to use as possible. They also make sure features are as narrow as possible, no general purpose powerful features are ever considered.
