I appreciate how he helps create UE5 hatred, but he is a full blown grifter otherwise. Easy to ignore when he is just scamming suckers for 900k, but can get annoying when he starts shitflinging with other autismos instead.
The main thing he got right is the blatant DF shilling.

You can do it simple, or you try to be intelligent about it to get the best video quality, and audio like what my smart optimizer does.
>>
>>108514113
and this was all created by claude and codex.

took this ~50mb video down to the target of ~4mb.
>>
>>108514113
>>108514121
That's a neat program. I'll try it on a desktop. I however run my script on a headless instance on my esxi since it has considerable more power than my little desktop and lives in another room so if it wants to make a bunch of noise encoding I don't care.
>>
>>108514156
my smart optimizer has tiers. small / tiny made for imageboards and web sites with constraints. like video length, resolution, etc. also tries to figure out if the video is anime, live action, etc as well because that helps figure out the quality level for the size. and checks the video to see if it would benefit being converted from 8 bit to 10 bit or downgraded from 10 bit to 8 bit to save on size. take container and other stuff in the video into budget consideration as well. its extremely powerful.
then medium, large, and x-large tiers to focus more on quality for the target file size. and picks crf / two pass as well. whatever provides the best quality for the target size. supports a target size of 1mb to 4gb.
>>
>>108514166
completely understandable.
if you are using hardware acceleration though, instead of cpu, that will hurt quality and increase size too. if you really want the smallest size, and best quality you really need to use cpu.

Any Guix users on a foreign distro here? I run debian with a guix setup, but I have the problem that Debian packages keep getting intercepted by Guix profiles, specifically GTK packages via the GIO_EXTRA_MODULES envar. E.g. after a recent update I get
firefox-esr: symbol lookup error: /home/anon/profiles/network/lib/gio/modules/libdconfsettings.so: undefined symbol: g_once_init_enter_pointer

I can fix this for Firefox by simply removing the Guix envars via a shell script, but is there a sensible way of doing that for every GTK app? Real annoying innit.
>>
>>108511775
>but I have the problem that Debian packages keep getting intercepted by Guix profiles
My first guess would be to check if the guix paths inside those env vars are being prepended or appended.
If all the paths are at the end then it would give precedence to the debian versions over the guix ones.

anon its year 2026 phone storage big now or same old 8MB dumb phone
>>
>>108506943
first of all, there's literally no point in hoarding shit when you don't have any backup solution, you will lose all this data eventually no matter what, your old microsd cards will stop retaining data after X amount of time spent sitting in storage or will just randomly die eventually
or your house will burn down or something and only an off-site backup protects from that
so you should just get this illness sorted out
but that being said... you realize you can just plug 2.5" hard drives to your phone with sata to usb cases... right?
a used 500 gb hdd (which isn't any worse than a microsd card for cold storage) is like 5$, 10/15 for a 1 tb one, you are just using one of the least cost efficient storage mediums for no fucking reason, honestly thank god i'm not this retarded I'd kms if that were me

I hate the shitty threads you people make.
I want to share what has opened my eyes, for other novices like me, who are trying to leave Winslop 11.

This thread is supposed to put you on the right track to making your own decision,
after reading this thread the fog of Linux won't be there anymore,
you will know what you want and you will find the distro that is suitable for you.

> 1. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1b/Linux_Distribution_Timeline.svg
This old image includes 95% of all Linux distros in existence, study this.

Studying this image alone, is going to help you see through idiotic arguments like "mint is better" or "go with arch" or "go with pop_os" -- most of them have a parent OS.

> 2. Distro arguments are pointless. #1 choice that you must make is what family Linux do you want and pick.
If you studied image above, you will see there distinct few families of Linux, the relevant ones are: Debian, Fedora, Arch.

I tried it but went with FOSS Browser instead, another system webview one. I think it edged it out in some random criteria I had like the app starting faster. There was also a new one called "FREE Browser" which seemed alright.
