fellas, QTSynth is out (for windows). I owe a couple posters on /dmp/ for keeping me motivated/giving me attention when I was starting out. Here is a download link for the paid version, for my internet friends:http://litter.catbox.moe/cws7k7.raror if you don't trust that you can get the free demo from the link below. https://quasitosh.itch.io/qtsynth(both versions are fully featured, except one has a cosmetic annoyance that has to be managed)

Hi.I noticed that recently 4chan stopped loading most of images on my desktop browser. I use latest version of Firefox, checked if this could be related to adblocker but problem persist even with extensions disabled. Meanwhile on mobile Firefox everything loads normally. What could be the case?
Any version of Windows since 1995 has been more polished, production-ready and user-friendly than any Linux distro ever made. That's obvious to anybody who has installed both of them on the same machine. Are Linux users just lying about their distros being a better experience than a Windows installation?
>>107631981>>107671820that's a reasonable thing to be concerned about, the fact that foss by definition (all foss licenses have it) are provided without any warranty, so you have no legal recourse if they don't work (actual malware though i don't believe is protected by this). though you can always get a refund if something doesn't work ;)what do you want me to say? i can't tell you who to trust. personally i would sooner trust someone who writes software for fun or personal utility over someone who writes code for a paycheque for a company whose primary goal is to make money
>>107672038Point is that FOSS is not holy. I used to use bromite for instance. Turns out it was abandoned, had to replace it with cromite, which in turn was also abandoned. If I didn’t follow the news of my software I might have been exposed to serious security risks. Now I just use fucking edge with ublock origin on my android, making me question the point of investing time and energy in FOSS in general. Over the years there have been multiple examples of this. So yeah, it’s more a disappointment in the holy promises of FOSS vs the bitter reality. For me at least. I also understand there are very well established projects with corporate backing.
>>107672551i've never considered foss to be holy, i'm not sure where you got the idea that people think it is
>>107621970It generally is better, 99% of issues on Linux are related to closed sourced shitty standard that should be phased out ages ago like .rar or HDMI. The rest are just general over reliance on terminal, mostly because devs are autistic so "different use cases" doesn't mean anything to them.
>>107621970>Why do Linux users pretend that Linux is a better experience than Windows?I don't know, I updooted my Arch machine today which I haven't used for 5 or 6 months. Just did a pacman -Syu and everything went smooth. Am using my macbook pro m4 pro as my main machine now. But will make the Arch desktop as my geymen machine I thought today.

A few of you may have discovered today that thumbnails suddenly stopped loading in Firefox. I did.Checking the browser console, I found errors for each thumbnail in the catalog which said "A resource is blocked by OpaqueResponseBlocking, please check browser console for details."After disabling browser.opaqueResponseBlocking in about:config, those error messages turned into 403's and the images would still not load.I did a desuarchive search for Firefox and found a post in /trash/ saying "I figured it out. 4chan is now asking for referrers when requesting images from 4cdn... TL:DR; 4chan wants to know where you were before loading an image." along with a screenshot of all about:config settings with the word "referer" in them. With the help of that screenshot, I pinpointed the issue to network.http.referer.XOriginPolicy in about:config, which I had set to 2 for whatever reason, I don't know. Setting it to 0 fixed the problem. Most of you on Firefox probably won't experience this since 0 is the default setting. So, for those of you also experiencing this issue, there's the fix, and now the fix is on desuarchive for others to find.Feel free to discuss the technological/privacy ramifications of this change by 4chan, or if the /trash/ poster's analysis is correct.
>>107668537I saw it happen shortly in the TCC thread and just refreshed and it was fine. I figured thumbs went down since this is 4chins and stability was never promised.
>>107672004Then it's not an issue with Firefox.
>>107672488I believe it is, as I believe there isn't a way to alter referrer policy in Chromium-based browsers without an add-on.

>>107671637>no way to piratethat's not true, though piracy was quite different then. i'm not old enough to have seen that first hand (i was 5 in 1995) but i have since learned of what people did (ftp servers, bbs's, sneakernets, mailing floppies, etc). it's certainly more accessible now but people absolutely pirated software well before 1995. many groups you've heard of like razor1911 started in the '80s

Best theater speakers? Trying to help my dad get some good ones, for reference he’s looking at top of the line genelecs.
>>107669478The fit is incredible. Like I mentioned the ear cups are super deep so I love that feel. Somehow they're the same weight as 558s which weigh 260 grams like most of the all plastic Sennheisers. I'm 6'3" and definitely don't have a small head but I use them on the 5th notch out of 12 notches on the headband and there's plenty of lateral bending you could do. I've never tried the 600s so I don't know about the clamping but I have some Beyer DT 1770 gen 1 and they clamp a lot less than those. They're the classic Sennheiser feel where they disappear on your head and that's why they're the best brand in my eyes.
so what was the logic with focals headbands on the clear? even before the snapping headbands it doesn't seem like the fabric cover was a part they sold and any material was just going to eventually wear out and would of become quite uncomfortable. I always wanted to try a pair and i've started seeing some pop up used with chinkfiman headbands now but that doesn't sound very epic for a $800 cad used headphone
>>107672934Don't ask the logic behind the ergonomics of any headphone because there's none. Almost feels like they aren't even using the headphones they're making.
>>107671681>ssl 2 mkiiI don't have any experience with that device but in practical terms I really doubt their driver can be as bad as the one for the Scarlett interfaces. I had a Scarlett 18i8 that I had to abandon due to the extremely shit driver and I went to an Audient Evo 16 which has an entirely stable and reliable driver as far as I can tell. The Evo 16 also needs its own special sauce driver, but like I said, at least that one doesn't cause trouble (and the unit itself has a few extra features).I can only speak to these 2 devices, I haven't really used any other audio interfaces.
