I think most people had issues, because of rapid progress and because people upgraded components and whole PCs more often. I was "poor" and used one computer, no upgrades for very long spans of time until upgrades and I always had slightly outdated computer by the time something new was released. When something already works and you don't touch it, it is more stable.As for "fragility" of windows xp - it bluescreened on driver issues, because that's how windows handled errors at the time. Modern windows crash implicitly and tries to restart the driver and only really fatal errors result in BSOD. The stability of modern windows drivers is an illusion. Obviously new hardware doesn't have polished drivers on release.

So if you get anything 8TB or larger, make sure they are helium models even if they are an older model.Or just use Toshiba enterprise drives, they don't fuck around with idiocy like this.

How do I frobnicate a list of numbered files sequentially, using list expansion in bash?I wanted to do something like$ frobnicate file{1..8}.frobbut frobnicate only works on the first filename argument and ignores the rest, so that won't work.
