There's a big whirlpool of money that may or may not actually exist around AI. There's an apparent demand of GW of power to feed the datacenters in which AI will reside. There's enough money in this shitstorm that one could pay off the national public debt of a small nation, which would have immense social and economic returns (but that's socialism, and only already rich people and corporations can have their gibs without it being socialism). There's enough money to fix many societal issues, like infrastructures and healthcare. Problem is: all those money instead are being spent on GPU and datacenters, which will be obsolete in a matter of a couple of years and are currently rotting in warehouses because there's not enough power infrastructure to turn them all on. In other words these money are being mostly burned so that a part can be siphoned off by stakeholders of the main financial actors of this bubble. In the meantime whoever jumped on the bandwagon, and that's a lot of people and financial institutions, will lose everything as the bubble pops. The last time something like that happened it sent the whole world in recession, with dire consequences for the world economy, the real economy that actually impacts real humans. Oh and we got a movie with Margot Robbie in a tub of bubbles to explain the whole thing a decade later. So yeah, as soon as this shit implodes we'll be all poorer regardless of our involvement, and this includes (You).

>Do you recommend any in particular?
AliExpress has a bunch of offers of these. As long as the seller and the item have decent reviews you'll be fine. Will just take a fairly long time to arrive, usually 2-3 weeks from my experience.
>Also I'm not too sure if I want open back headphones. To be fair I have no experience with them, but I'm not really an audiophile, I just want something ok for the money.
Depends how much you need sound isolation. If you don't then open backs are better because, other than sounding more open due to how they're built, they're also more comfortable since your ears don't sweat as much. A decent pair of headphones+boom mic is always a better solution than gaming headphones since those are usually just the cheapest chinkshit drivers+cheapest mic with a 300% markup. HyperX is a little better than the competition but since the acquisition their products not only sound worse but also have worse build quality.
>>
>>107613379
Alright then, thanks mate. I will try looking for them and give them a try. I will only be using them in my room so there's no real need for extreme sound isolation whatsoever.
>>
My HD6XX cable crapped out so I bought a replacement of the same brand. I don’t know if its placebo but I think it sounds better? The cable was maybe 3 years old but I don’t know if these actually degrade over time and reduce sound quality.

my understanding is that it's impossible. copper and silver do have impedances that do impedance things but not to a meaningful extent

So I decided to protect my Linux system with Secure Boot. I've generated own certificates, didn't add Microsoft keys because I thought I don't need them since I'm using Linux in a single boot configuration. I signed bootloader, kernel image, enrolled keys and everything went smooth so far. After a while I decided to try loading Arch Linux live image, and surprisingly it loaded, only in BIOS mode. I figured out that it's some compatibility option that allows legacy boot records to load on modern systems. "Well, it's better to turn it off to enhance security" I thought. And this is when shit hit the fan. After disabling CSM I couldn't boot into UEFI firmware yet my Linux system was booting just fine. What the fuck? TURNS OUT things such firmware and UEFI GPU drivers have to be signed by secure-boot accepted keys AS WELL, and this GPU ROM is only signed by Microsoft key.
So, if I don't want to dump my GPU ROM, evaluate it hash and write it to db and do such retarded nonsense every time I upgrade my GPU I have to add Microsoft key, literally allowing any Microsoft distribution to run on my machine. Furthermore, no GPU developer can write a ROM without asking for Microsoft permission, even if they never intended to make drivers for Windows.

>>
>>107614096
If you only sign bootloader then your secure boot doesn't work properly. It must fail when you try to load unsigned efi binary.
>>
>>107614079
The world at large hasn't quite realized how fucked the situation is, so there's little call for legislation and little other forms of pressure being applied.
In a way - we're in 'fuck-about' territory still. But don't worry - we're about to head into 'find-out' territory, because MS's secure boot keys are going to expire in 2026 and there's a lot of consumer and small-business grade hardware out there on which MS cannot get the automated enrollment of their new keys working properly.
>>
No clue what you're talking about, sbctl just works with custom keys.
>>
>>107614380
Did you enroll Microsoft keys? If no try to disable CSM in your boot settings (but have a USB drive with your mobo bios first so you can offline flash your UEFI BIOS afterwards)

what do you use this for

>It's an escapism hobby
Yeah, I get it. While I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with escapism, it does become a problem when you start to believe your fantasies to be reality, or when you start intentionally using your audience's vulnerabilities to create this false hope.
I think that the hardest thing to do when it comes to privacy is holding back your tongue. Even if you take measures to only use software and websites that don't collect your data, everyone has a desire to connect with others, and you must share information about yourself in order to do it. To be constantly questioning whether or not a piece of info about you could lead to more being discovered, either right now or down the line, is incredibly hard and tiring. No one so many vtubers slip up. Even if they share something that doesn't really matter now, it may be important in the future for people looking to dox them.

I don't blame them for wanting to keep their privacy, especially in such an industry. And I do recognize how difficult is balancing privacy and connection.

>The no bf/no male rules come from japanese idol culture. Hololive is somewhat of a "virtual idol" company so there is some expectation for the girls to keep up a "pure idol" image.
>It's a tough one when your audience is mostly men, and maybe you don't want to deceive or prey on them, but you can't or don't want to disclose your private life.
Yeah, it's a really difficult balance to achieve. Especially when admitting you have a bf/husband can directly tank your audience. Still, I think it's worth it to be honest about this to not cultivate a delusional fanbase to the best of your ability, even if there will always be weirdos and your numbers might suffer. I think it's better to be honest in the long run, even if it hurts now. But I understand why they do it. Selling intimacy is a problem I'm not really sure how could be solved.
