I am currently in possession of a Dell Precision 5550 my school gave me and didn't ask for back; this happened 1.5-2 years ago so I forgot I even had it. I would like to use this as a personal laptop to replace my old desktop; however, the BIOS is locked, and it is running heavily restricted Windows, making it practically just a web browser.I have already read a fair bit about how this is difficult but all info regarding actually unlocking it doesn't work--any advice? Is there a reliable way to do this without having to do anything to the BIOS chips? I am fairly technical but currently do not have access to the required tools for soldering/chip flashing. I do not have a USB-C flashdrive, but since I can't even open BIOS boot order due to admin lock, I doubt it would work.Laptop model: Dell Precision 5550Bios Version: 1.22.0BIOS Mode: UEFICPU: i7-10750HGPU: Quadro T2000 (Max-Q Design)RAM: 32GiBShould this be unfeasible/too painful, I am thinking of buying a ThinkPad P53 as an alternative.I can provide more specifics if need be.

It seems unrealistic to think that they would have the password checking code in the BIOS chip instead of the controller because it would be relatively easy to just remove that subroutine.>>107688020>I think you still have to desolder the voltage pin so the flasher doesnt power on stuff on the motherboard.Trying to do any soldering on SMDs in a laptop still feels dangerous/risky...but I guess buying a P53 when this could work is a bit wasteful... I could keep this laptop for another year or so to ensure that they don't want it back (I am pretty sure they don't even have its serial number linked to my name/ID# though) and then sell and just buy an unlocked P53 now--is that a good idea? I am just scared to make a paper weight of out something that still has decent resale value.

New version is out. Also, why was my previous thread deleted? This is a software-based application explicitly engineered for operation within the computational and telecommunications framework of a handheld mobile device, ok? It is therefore unambiguously situated within the broader domain of contemporary technological systems, infrastructures, and applied digital sciences, and as such relevant to /g/.
>>107687611No idea what you're talking about if you want random anons to help with these edge cases state your device and OS anon. I have had zero issues with these updates
does kuroba dev still work if i use a passmaybe its time to get one
>>107687928Not him but I'm having a similar issue. If I clean install the app (or clear its storage) and try posting something, the cloudflare check passes without any issues and the captcha challenge shows up.If I import the backup I've just exported from kurobaex 1.3.33 and then try to post in the same thread, I get an error stating "Url [foo] cannot be opened without going through cloudflare checks first! (FirewallDetectedException)". There's clearly something bad getting imported and it would be nice if the app let us remove it afterwards. I should have a look inside the zip next.I doubt this changes much, but it's an xperia 5 iv with android 14.
>>107687928>>107688519Alright, having a look at the backup zip helped.I've noticed that every site has a "site_preferences" xml, and the one for 4chins has the cloudflare cookies written on it.Clearing those on the kurobaex sites settings didn't help, but deleting that xml, repacking the zip and importing that after clearing the app's storage did the trick.>>107687611Give the above a try. Keep in mind that although 7zip gave me an error when extracting the zip, everything worked regardless.
botched update. reverted back to the previous version because cloudflare verification check shows white page. nothing happens. do not update.

A few of you may have discovered today that thumbnails suddenly stopped loading in Firefox. I did.Checking the browser console, I found errors for each thumbnail in the catalog which said "A resource is blocked by OpaqueResponseBlocking, please check browser console for details."After disabling browser.opaqueResponseBlocking in about:config, those error messages turned into 403's and the images would still not load.I did a desuarchive search for Firefox and found a post in /trash/ saying "I figured it out. 4chan is now asking for referrers when requesting images from 4cdn... TL:DR; 4chan wants to know where you were before loading an image." along with a screenshot of all about:config settings with the word "referer" in them. With the help of that screenshot, I pinpointed the issue to network.http.referer.XOriginPolicy in about:config, which I had set to 2 for whatever reason, I don't know. Setting it to 0 fixed the problem. Most of you on Firefox probably won't experience this since 0 is the default setting. So, for those of you also experiencing this issue, there's the fix, and now the fix is on desuarchive for others to find.Feel free to discuss the technological/privacy ramifications of this change by 4chan, or if the /trash/ poster's analysis is correct.

I was thinking about the whole "female surgeon riddle" and noticed that I actually NEVER stumbled upon it before it got famous due to being a weaknesses of AIs. So, why do LLM go so bullhead hardcore on it?Basically, I believe, that companies like Gemini, Clause, and OpenAi, have among the data they train on some "packages" of data that they fry the shit out of them on their models to make sure they stick.Like a feminist/antisexist package, an antiracist package, an antinazi/fascism, and so on.And that riddle just happens to appears in the feminist package.Thoughts?>>107688402I just can't deal with the she she she she she her her her her thing that DS does it like crazy. If I want to play very old/very undemanding windows games, would it be prudent to wait it out till next year for a windows tablet or would a galaxy tab s9 be sufficient? I can get one for 600 bucks new and would only use it a tablet/e-reader/media viewer and playing undemanding shit via winlator.
I got a pi4 vilross kit with 4gb ram, heatsinks and fan case. Trying to use it for a media browser through chromium or firefox and it's abysmally slow. YouTube barely loads. Twitch is even slower. Graphics access is enabled in chromium. 64gb samsung SD card with 64bit Bookworm OS preloaded in it. Used terminal to check temps and it reported 35 C. Used top to check processes and nothing seems abnormal. I disabled Bluetooth just in case it helps overhead a tiny bit. The whole thing is slow as fuck honestly. People said it can work as a nice little mini pc for casual web browsing but I'm not seeing it. What did I fuck up?
>>107688546I can't in good conscience recommend anything but an x86 tablet because at least you don't have to use a spyware OS that way. Buy second hand if you have to.
