That's like saying ZFS doesn't have encryption because it only got it in 2019 (the same year BTRFS got Swap support).

I guess people can't be bothered to Google something to check if their common knowledge is still up-to-date. I'm guilty of that myself sometimes to be fair but I try to look things up or at least ask an LLM if I'm still right to say that.

Razer laptops suck, they over heat and their drivers are absolute bloatware. Seriously, they make HP drivers look lite weight by comparison.
Their 2.4ghz gayming headsets are fantastic however in my personal experience.

Just get i5 with Iris xi or an Ryzen 7 with iGPU rdna 2 graphics instead. Or better yet just get a desktop.

READ THE (temp)WIKI! & help by contributing:
https://igwiki.lyci.de/wiki/Home_server

/hsg/ is about learning and expanding your horizons. Know all about NAS? Learn virtualization. Spun up some VMs? Learn about networking by standing up a OPNsense/PFsense box and configuring some VLANs. There's always more to learn and chances to grow. Think you’re god-tier already? Setup OpenStack and report back.

>What software should I run?
Install Gentoo. Or whatever flavor of *nix is best for the job or most comfy for you. Jellyfin/Emby/Plex to replace Netflix, Nextcloud to replace Googlel, Ampache/Navidrome to replace Spotify, the list goes on. Look at the awesome self-hosted list and ask.

>Why should I have a home server?
De-botnet your life. Learn something new. Serving applications to yourself, your family, and your frens feels good. Put your tech skills to good use for yourself and those close to you. Store their data with proper availability redundancy and backups and serve it back to them with a /comfy/ easy to use interface.

I run my business's infra. OneDev instance, documentation, file hosting and dropboxes, docuseal, uptime monitors, VMs for customer dev environments, etc. You're looking at 4x online UPS(each meant to be plugged into a dedicated 120v 10amp circuit) for redundant power, 7x r730xd, 6x r630, 3x 12 3.5 HDD storage servers, a KVM w/ KVM over ethernet switch, a Sophos XG 430 Rev 2 firewall, Brocade ICX6610-48P switch, and a rear mounted Mellanox EDR switch(haven't gotten around to setting it up yet, but all the Dells have 100G NICs ready to go and I have the DACs). Lots of SAS enterprise-gradd SSDs with PLP in there and a couple hundred TB of SAS HDD total in the storage servers, and a couple TB of RAM across the servers. Not exactly a full inventory but that's the gist of it: lots of decade old hardware in pretty decent condition that is mostly overkill and should offer quite a bit of redundancy(other than networking unfortunately)

Yeah, I've been playing around with it for a bit now and it seems quite versatile. I wonder if there's a way to get it to do laughs or perhaps precisely fiddle with the inflection mid sentence? I think I remember doing something like that with TortoiseTTS a while ago.

I am sitting in front of 3 monitors, my tablet and my phone and there is something on all these screens and my vertical monitor has about 200 tabs open on it.

How can I fix my concentration because I don't think this is working out for me. I was even thinking of buying another monitor until I stopped and made this thread instead. But I still want that monitor and the tab is still open for it.

I tried going back to one screen and took everything out but I put it all back after only 1 day.

Use two monitors. One large high-quality primary monitor, and one small basic secondary.
Sell your third monitor, don't just put it away.
Install a tab limit extension like this https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/rudolf-fernandes/
Keep your tablet in a different room.
