Human will realize the only way to keep up is having ai fix them. Humans are to slow. Human and ai built for different tasks. Go hunt a lion, human. That’s what humans are good for. Let ai handle coding. It’s what ai is good for. Human pattern recognition was made to hunt animals and survive in wilderness. Ai pattern recognition built for reading insanely large data sets. Let ai take care of coding. While human take care protecting data center from outside threats.

Well I'm not surprised. Steam (and helper script GUIs like Lutris and wine wrappers like umu-launcher) have made playing Windows games on Linux so stupidly easy that people that don't play kernel anti-cheat games can just use Linux and be happy.

The problem is automated moderation went from being just a fancy filter to being AI powered, the AI determines based on parameters not even google fucking knows that you're somehow underage, or flags you as a bot, or fucks you in the ass etc Everyone's too fucking greedy to hire a proper team to moderate a platform, so you get shit like this instead

backlight, ribbon cable came out, or it just died. if it's the backlight, shining a flashlight or your phone's flashlight mode on the screen while it's powered on should show stuff. if it's the ribbon cable, you can open up the case and carefully plug it back in with non-conductive tweezers or a spudger. if the display's just fucked, warranty claim it or if it's out of warranty see if you can get a replacement display assembly or a "for parts/as-is" same model laptop for dirt cheap that is listed for something non-display related.

Is there such a thing as a ethernet port tester?
there's a house where there's a bunch of ethernet ports in the modem/router room but they're unmarked, so idk which connect to where.

If there was a device I could plug into a port in a room, then swap through the modem room plugs and it pings me when both ends are connected...
I did this with 2 laptops before but it was a chore and very slow

Mate, the CPU executes four XORs and/or four ANDs in a single fucking cycle. You want to trim fat, you first get rid of fifty-year-old interfaces and enable zero-copy submissions without triggering global TLB shootdowns that require tens of thousands of cycles, and then you disable overcommit so that all the shitware out there has to actually *use* the memory it demands from the kernel.

THAT'S where the meat's at.

Depends on your needs, OS, and what do you mean by "better" (it may make sense to rethink your usage of this word). I would say the main alternatives are Furryfox and Chromium (or Ungoogled Chromium, probably???), so I'll (subjectively) compare Brave with them. There are also some other smaller independent(?) browsers like Falkon, qutebrowser, or Luakit, but I don't have much experience with them, therefore won't comment on this regard.

# Furryfox

## Pros
- Easier to set up declaratively. customize in general, or change the looks even without add-ons
- By far superior vertical tab organization functionality if you don't mind installing some plugin like Sidebery
- Imposes less restrictions on plugins, as far as I know
- Can be found in virtually any general purpose software repo
- Compiles and runs natively on almost every general-purpose OS (even NetBSD); in other words --- very portable
- Considerably better startup speed if you have enormous piles of tabs hoarded (I have about 10k right now and it's still usable)

## Cons

> Compiles and runs natively on almost every general-purpose OS (even NetBSD); in other words --- very portable
Self-correction: it turns out Chromium is also available on NetBSD, but not on Haiku, for example. To be fair, It's unlikely that you will ever use any of them, but portability is always a nice thing nonetheless.

Thanks!

Yes, I know this is the place where everybody loves to rice and have complete control over their system, but unlike some people who use Linux, I actually have a job and things I need to do.

I have been daily driving Linux, and it is very good, but I was wondering if it is possible to still have a good understanding of Linux systems on what some may call a “normie” distro like Ubuntu. Do I really need to use something like Arch or Gentoo to learn Linux? And if I do use Arch or Gentoo, am I even really learning Linux? It kind of seems I would learn more about the package manager and whatever other stuff it uses instead of actually learning Linux systems.

This. Absolutely this. I learned my way with Slackware in 1999. I don't use it anymore, but it helped me greatly.
>>108502947
Better for what? I haven't tried Gentoo. I can recommend Void, which I'm currently using in my home server, if you want something a bit easier to install and keep updated.
I think you don't sneed a' hard 'distro to learn Linux, but something like Slackware certainly would help in grasping some concepts.
>>
>>108502677
You should be thinking of what you want to accomplish on your machine instead of becoming an expert on fucking with it. The point of Linux is not to be difficult to use or master regardless of what 'power users' say. No one uses windows because it's harder to use. The Linux community is infested with elitists who do nothing productive with a computer. Keep using Ubuntu and be productive with it. If it can't do what you need it to, then consider another option.
>>
>>108502677
“Learning Linux” is usually just about managing a server, and that’s a completely different skill set. Normalfag and HR roastie just assume that typing shit on a linux server means you understand linux, even though many linux nerds don’t know how to manage a server and the same as server admins don’t know how to be productive on a linux desktop

I disagree. Exaggerating the situation is perfectly reasonable when you see how the age verification final form is in other countries. It will get worse! Politicians are not your friend. Humans also only change under stress, that's a fucking fact. We are lazy primates. Also no reason to actually distro hop for now if you can blacklist packages but it's a good thing to already have a distro for later.
