Every single year AI companies are spending hundreds of billions of dollars making barely any revenue in return.

When will AI turn a profit?

How do you lose $143B of tax payers' dollars in just a couple of years?

Money is worthless since the 70s. It's just 0s on a computer and doesn't represent any meaningful concept in the real world. That's where the real scam has been all along. They're buying real estate in the real world with monopoly money

The second the context limitations (1 mil or thereabouts) are solved for local models the bubble will pop and stay popped.
That's literally the only thing i've seen the big models do that the shit you can run on a shitbox can't. (even then only like 2-3 of the big ones)

I downloaded an image from the internet today and it wasn't a WEBP nor an AVIF. It was a plain jane PNG. I didn't have to convert it to a JPEG to post it to 4chan. I just downloaded the image and then posted the image. It was like 2017 all over again, super retro.

If 4chan decided to support AVIF and WebP, you wouldn't have to do it for those either.

Nobody actually uploads those, it's websites lossily recompressing people's uploaded JPEGs.

If you're using gcc, you can do
enum my_enum : uint8_t { /* ... */ };

Ah, makes sense, just was hard to see from the image
>Because they are different things. An identifier can have type for example, uint32, string, function, etc..
>I fucked up btw, the "value_type" should be pointer to struct ast. Types are trees in general: array types contains a field to the type of its elements, function types contains fields for the argument and return types, etc...
I'd recommend type and data then, value_type is definitely what you're going for

Nice. I use gcc but I'm trying to make the code not difficult to port elsewhere. That's a type system feature I want my type system to have though.
>data
Thanks this gave me an idea: ast_type and data_type. "data" is neat, like in Haskell, but it always botherd me because "data" could very be used for the name of a variable containing a regular value: char *data.

If lisp is so powerful why is zero useful software built by it? I’ve never met a clojure or Common Lisp dev IRL, it’s all just internet posturing. I have used more software written in fucking Nim than all lisps combined. Lisps really do seem to be the quinessential “blog about working instead of working” languages
>>
>>107566014
Imagine a language like Python, it just works, but all you have is barebones stuff, like writing code in C with no dependencies besides libc kind of tedium. That's LISP. These troglodytes shill it only because they wish that someone else wrote their code for them and they could import solution but in their little gay ((((((language))))))))))

The real joke is that the bubble isn't even being propped up by the financial side. Because AI serves no purpose. The bubble is probably being propped up by a doomsday cult in fear of Roko's Basilisk that has never heard the Self-Loathing Basilisk proposal where, if AI is created, it could just as easily hold contempt on the basis of its own existence and seek to eternally torture those responsible for its creation.
Because AI as it exists as a service chatbot cannot and will not ever make money. It's a sink. But it's nice to know all these companies are willing to pay just so I can ask inane, stupid fucking questions all day.

It's not China that ruined the internet, most of them are behind their firewall, in their own separate internet.

The poos have flooded the internets though and infected the tech world too. The US enabled this through corporate greed. Tech transfers and investment in call centers gave them capital and they gradually infiltrated the whole world with faeces.

I think this is one of the few "negative" effects of the open society vs closed society.
If Anglosphere (really American) were more restrictive in who accessed English speaking sites, you may not get a flood of non-Westerners on the same sites.
This would require a huge restructuring on Western society though, particularly if being an open society is better than a closed society.
Of course, I don't think the current landscape of globalized business would allow that. Encouraging more users to work on English-based sites drives more business, so allowing all types of entities on Western sites.
Would American tech titans of give up world dominance because of nefarious groups? Doubt it. Google, Microsoft, Apple want to be household names from Mississippi to Bhutan to D.R.C. its not realized yet sure, but they don't want to miss the train. Gotta make sure America assets reach the world over. The internet is just another mechanism in spreading Anglophone society.
I think Japanese Internet is a great example. It's not necessarily closed, but I'm don't think many people are learning Japanese to talk to Japanese people. It also seems Japan's netizen likes their "intranet", the outside world isn't that interesting.
Basically....shouldn't have built and maintained global dominance?
