I'm a millennial who has been here since 2006. It is not 2006 anymore. I can't just write whatever and post it without a captcha. My old favorite stylesheet, the gurochan one, is long gone. To use 4chan now is to fight against a broken ass mess. The process of making this post proves it. I refreshed the thread because I thought it was broken but it was just a Cloudflare captcha taking it's sweet ass time. Then I kept getting the spur.us/mcl.io error even though those aren't blocked. I didn't lose what I typed even after refreshing the page multiple times because of my vibe coded update to 4chan-xt that adds a drafts feature.

You skimmed it looking for something cringe. When you didn't hit paydirt you went with a cheap low effort reply. You hoped you would hurt my feelings. But I spent 20 years on this website so I'm numb to it all. You aren't good at picking targets. You have never had an original thought as long as you've been alive. You're going to reply with something equally low effort from your NPC dialogue tree. I will probably ignore it.

Slackware>Void>Gentoo>Devuan>Artix
pkgtools>xbps>portage>apt>pacman
the best init you can use on Artix is OpenRC. It's neat enough for you to rc-update delete udev, elogind and dbus

Devuan lets you use SysVinit which is ideal, you run ln -sf /bin/true /usr/sbin/update-rc.d
ln -sf /bin/true /usr/sbin/invoke-rc.d
find /etc/rc?.d/ -type l -delete
find /etc/rc?.d/ -name "*udev*" -delete
find /etc/rc?.d/ -name "*elogind*" -delete
find /etc/rc?.d/ -name "*dbus*" -delete
and edit /etc/rc.local manually

In Gentoo things are simpler, you write USE="-udev -elogind -dbus"

Void takes it a step further you rm the symlinks for udev, elogind and dbus from /var/service/

OpenRC is trash, they still haven't managed to make parallel service start work, which systemd has since day one.
>>
>>108501426
Unfortunately, in Devuan, you must still castrate apt, even if you delete the /var/service/ symlinks to udev, elogind and dbus, as apt upgrade may re-populate them, you still want to run ln -sf /bin/true /usr/sbin/update-rc.d
as well as ln -sf /bin/true /usr/sbin/invoke-rc.d
then deleting the symlinks in /var/service/ works. :)
Happy hacking!
>>
>>108501458
>parallel service start
Don't care. With minimal services at boot, your system still starts instantly, maby even faster than systemDisease.
>systemd has since day one.
This is an illusion by the way, it just puts all of that loading in the foreground. And you don't get to see them.
>>108501445
>I have zero issues with systemd
Well if you just use your browser and Docker, sure.
That is the consoomer's position.
The problem is not that it "doesn't werk," but it is non-transparent. Your skill of understanding your system atrophies, and you do not learn what your ps aux outputs by heart.
>>
>>108501503
I don't care about writing garbage shell scripts for my init, I built my distro from scratch but have no interest in having a half broken system just because some troon thinks systemd is bad.

i'm not aware of any direct link file sharing services that allow uploads that big. they're rare to begin with because they're often heavily abused by malware authors and people hosting illegal content, even catbox has issues with this. i asked who you were sharing with because there might be ways to work around the problem, like self-hosting or using a torrent or using something like syncthing. you might also be able to compress the file to a smaller size before uploading.

given your situation i think self-hosting would probably make the most sense. if it can't be coming from your network, maybe look into a free trial of a professional hosting service, i don't know much about them but i'm pretty sure you could configure them to act as a webhost for a small period of time. i remember people mentioning oracle having something like this.

I'm aware of one, litterbox.catbox.moe (up to 1GB), but it doesn't work as it should. Error code 0 is not much to go on. Must be someone else somewhere offering such a service, it's a temp file so it's not like it will be online forever.
Can't break the file apart, need it to be one file. I know I can self-host, just would like things to not be complicated for once.

Google has official deb and rpm packages for Chrome so yeah you can just use those (unless you're on Arch, in which case you deserve the consequences of using a meme distro)

And yes for Firefox, Mozilla has their own deb repo, so you can add that to your system and get Firefox from there. If you're on Fedora then stop beta testing for Red Hat and switch to Debian.

>>108501369
Doesn't work like that. Your web browser has that specific ability programmed in.
>>
>>108501467
Arch has Google Chrome. It's just the .deb unpacked into /opt. Downside is the maintainer can lag behind the upstream release if he's sleeping or otherwise busy. It's a pretty simple PKGBUILD though, you can update it yourself by bumping the version number and skipping integrity checks (or update the hashes manually too). That's all pretty annoying to keep track of and do yourself though.

As for Firefox, there's the tarball which should work on just about any distro.
>>
>>108501501

I'll try that. I'm using Unity's render graph so I can just make a fake texture (called TextureHandle) that lives inside of that instead of generating a texture2d. Unless you mean like a buffer as in a struct of data types or something
stuff like this is why I'm not an engine dev, I'm able to figure out neat stuff but at the end of the day I'm pretty sure I'm retarded and need the unity engine to hold my hand whenever idk anything lol.

atm ECS worlds are handled by a struct called Registry, a pointer to it gets passed into every function like the town bicycle
for changing levels it sounds like the best approach would be to copy over the player, etc, into a new registry then free the old registry (or serialize it if I want to give the player the ability to go back)

In case you are a total fuckin retard that's where you can find those notes on a piano keyboard. You need to match up the pattern of the black keys to find the same notes, so for example the one in between the set of 2 black keys is D, so every time you get that set of 2 black keys the one in between them will be a D note.

1. out of twelve notes, on what basis were seven notes selected to get their own unique letter, whereas the other four didn't get it?
2. if the answer has something to do with the idea that perhaps they wanted the letter-named notes to match a major scale or something like that, how was the W-W-H-W-W-W-H pattern of the major scale derived in the first place, i.e. imagine an alternative universe where the 12 notes that we know already exist, but they're provisionally called a b c d e f g h i j k l, with no sharps, what now, how did they figure out that pattern before renaming the notes to match the major scale (if it's what actually happened in the first place)

Look up diatonic chord theory. For our purposes here, its effectively all you need to know. You use the major or minor scale and a Roman numeral formula to pull chords from that scale. Then you have a collection of chords that sound good together and you can use the scale you created the chords from to play melody over the top.

For example, if we wanted to create a progression in the key of C Major, we would use the C Major scale. A common progression is a "1 6 4 5." We use the first, sixth, fourth and fifth notes of the scale and apply our formula to it. We end up with C Major, A minor, F Major, G Major.
>what's the formula
It's easier to visualize on guitar, but in the major scale its 1: Major 2: Minor 3: Minor 4: Major 5: Major 6: Minor 7: Diminished. The minor scale has a different formula. By changing the root or the key, if we wanted to play in D Major for example, the formula stays the same. A 1 6 4 5 in D Major would be D Major, B Minor, G Major, A Major.
>what notes sound good over X chord
Stick to chord tones at first. These are sometimes called triads and are the three most important notes in a chord, the root (or 1), the 3rd, the 5th. Looking at our scale in C Major, thats C, E, G. They will sound best over a C Major chord. When you switch to that 6 chord (A Minor), the best sounding notes are A, C, E. Notice the 3rd is a fret or semitone lower than the equivalent A Major. This is the fundamental difference that gives minor chords their sound.
Again this is much easier to visualize using major and minor scales on a guitar because you see each "step" of the scale easier.
Remember the major scale formula is W-W-H-W-W-W-H, while the natural minor scale formula is W-H-W-W-H-W-W, w being whole step and h being half step. Do not be discouraged, once you grasp this concept, you can deconstruct songs you hear instantly.

>I couldn't help but not understand why the things were decided to be that way and not any other way.
I forgot to answer this, the answer is: some retard decided it was that way a long time ago. Good example is enharmonic equivalents. C# and Db are different notes but sound exactly the same. Its done this way to simplify sheet and notation music, where they freak out if theres double sharps or double flats. For normal musicians without autism, its often more helpful because it tells us where the next note might be headed, helpful for bass players especially. If someone calls the note C#, its probably going up to D. If they called it Db, its probably going down to C.

Not really, I meant it needs to accept a list of arguments. All CLIs are like this, if you want something complex you should write them in a real language, in this case use the C API, or a binding.
