A few of you may have discovered today that thumbnails suddenly stopped loading in Firefox. I did.Checking the browser console, I found errors for each thumbnail in the catalog which said "A resource is blocked by OpaqueResponseBlocking, please check browser console for details."After disabling browser.opaqueResponseBlocking in about:config, those error messages turned into 403's and the images would still not load.I did a desuarchive search for Firefox and found a post in /trash/ saying "I figured it out. 4chan is now asking for referrers when requesting images from 4cdn... TL:DR; 4chan wants to know where you were before loading an image." along with a screenshot of all about:config settings with the word "referer" in them.With the help of that screenshot, I pinpointed the issue to network.http.referer.XOriginPolicy in about:config, which I had set to 2 for whatever reason, I don't know. Setting it to 0 fixed the problem.Most of you on Firefox probably won't experience this since 0 is the default setting.So, for those of you also experiencing this issue, there's the fix, and now the fix is on desuarchive for others to find.Feel free to discuss the technological/privacy ramifications of this change by 4chan, or if the /trash/ poster's analysis is correct.
>>107671431general and non-general (unofficial) data collection and tracking can freely roam through every browser and collect everything if referrer header is enabled and it is invading web users privacy.

>>107672053>Explain what newer C versions actually bring to the table.auto
>>107672062I don't like auto or "var" either. One of the benfits of using C and C# instead of just coding everything in Javascript or Python is that you have a decent type system that lets you explicitly specify what kind of data is held in a variable.The fact is, I'm perfectly happy with C89, and even if you give me a C11 compiler I'll end up writing C89 code anyway.The only C99 feature I actually use is the // comments, which luckily VS2010 supports as an extension to C89.

i watched about a minute of this and turned it offburgers don't have enough power generation to run all the gpusbut this isn't actually a real problemburgers actually pump a tonne of natural gas (they're actually much better supplied in this regard than china, who has power infra ready to go)and you don't need to spin up a power plant to use this gasyou just buy a shit tonne of disgusting gas turbines and put them next to the data centerelon's already done thisoracle is doing thisyou aren't getting cheap anythingnone of this stops any time soon

How do they have so many packages? Do they compromise on security?
>>107670009>Do they compromise on security?Yes, they don't give a fuck about security. Last time when I checked their VIAL's derivation, they made an installation step that creates a udev rule that opens HIDRAW that lets anyone, at any given time, to write anything to your keyboard's firmware (like a malware or a keylogger). Which is the most naive and lazy way about doing this.
>>107671245>this is the OS that Anduril goes nuts overthe mutt century really is a fucking joke isn't it
>>107671245Use case for these permissions??? echo 'KERNEL=="hidraw*", SUBSYSTEM=="hidraw", MODE="0666", TAG+="uaccess", TAG+="udev-acl"' > $out/etc/udev/rules.d/92-viia.rules
echo 'KERNEL=="hidraw*", SUBSYSTEM=="hidraw", MODE="0666", TAG+="uaccess", TAG+="udev-acl"' > $out/etc/udev/rules.d/92-viia.rules
>>107671245>udev rule that opens HIDRAW that lets anyone, at any given timeYou can override a udev rule pretty easily. It was probably in vials documentation to set a mode=0666 udev rule or an example udev rule was in their own git repo. Change it to an input group and hope nothing breaks.>>107670009Automation. Bots usually do most of the work of bumping up versions, it usually pulls directly from upstream with minimal patching. If you follow unstable you will have few if any known CVEs in your software. There's potential security concerns with the nix store and the script that runs statemd stage 1 that makes secureboot less effective(you should be encrypting your drive anyway). You should assess your own threat model and act accordingly as well.
