READ THE (temp)WIKI! & help by contributing:
https://igwiki.lyci.de/wiki/Home_server

/hsg/ is about learning and expanding your horizons. Know all about NAS? Learn virtualization. Spun up some VMs? Learn about networking by standing up a OPNsense/PFsense box and configuring some VLANs. There's always more to learn and chances to grow. Think you’re god-tier already? Setup OpenStack and report back.

>What software should I run?
Install Gentoo. Or whatever flavor of *nix is best for the job or most comfy for you. Jellyfin/Emby/Plex to replace Netflix, Nextcloud to replace Googlel, Ampache/Navidrome to replace Spotify, the list goes on. Look at the awesome self-hosted list and ask.

>Why should I have a home server?
De-botnet your life. Learn something new. Serving applications to yourself, your family, and your frens feels good. Put your tech skills to good use for yourself and those close to you. Store their data with proper availability redundancy and backups and serve it back to them with a /comfy/ easy to use interface.

When I first started with the home server I was using ubuntu and they have a version of transmission that had a memory leak. That was annoying for a while. Otherwise it works just fine.

Can someone explain me the deal with Android and its version numbers?

Back in the days we had Eclair, Froyo and Gingerbread for 2.x.x updates, and ICS, Jelly Bean and Kitkat for 4.x.x updates. Now, ever since Lollipop, we are jumping from 5 to 6 to 7 to 8, even though Marshmallow, Nougat and Oreo could've easily fit as 5.x.x

What is the retarded logic behind this? I don't want to see Android with retarded inflated numbers like Chrome and Firefox which are around their version 50 or so.

i like kde plasma because it's very windows like but I don't like how the main feature is supposedly customization but they for some reason partially removed pointed corners in plasma 6.0 and the only way to get them back completely is to install some sort of plugin, right now you only get pointed corners in the bottom corners

just keep the pointed corners in the settings menu and let me flick them back on you had that in previous versions!
>>
>>107713932
kde gets too much prize about its supposedly customisability, but it does a pretty shit job at it, fonts, icons colours; it all stinks and the panel is soon put to break after you start messing with it. modularity and customisability my ass.

New version is out.

Also, why was my previous thread deleted? This is a software-based application explicitly engineered for operation within the computational and telecommunications framework of a handheld mobile device, ok? It is therefore unambiguously situated within the broader domain of contemporary technological systems, infrastructures, and applied digital sciences, and as such relevant to /g/.

Why look forward to it at all since at most you can do with it is making the model do generic nipples with very little variation since the model was not trained on NSFW?
I would just wait until z-image base omni gets released and then someone would do a Chroma-like training run on it and you would get accurate anatomy and believable nipples
>>

it can remove clothes already you just need a genitals lora

So I just need to do basic tasks like listen to music, stream video, and browse basic websites. Is installing windows 2000 a bad idea? How fucked will I be for drivers?

The reason I want to do this for one, it's botnet free, and two it was the most streamlined of classic operating systems. I really have a boner for Windows 2000 and I just want to know if it's even moderately viable to use in this day and age.

XP boots faster because it starts drivers in parallel, whilst 2k starts them sequentially. Nothing to do with optimization.
>>
I don't know how you're planning to stream anything with 4GB of RAM but you do you.

Streaming doesn't use much ram at all though. I can watch live video on vlc and not even reach 512mb usage.

>He could run NewMoon, which can solve cloudflare captchas
Some of them, like the ones you get here. Others flat out hang and the script has to be manually stopped to regain use of the browser.

>and renders most websites fine.
Not true at all. Try something like reddit, instagroom, google, smugmug, etc. All broken. It's a hit and miss if nothing else. MyPal68 has much better compatibility (and performance) but troonflare's broken. Supermium checks all the boxes but is pozzed to hell just like regular chromium (but if you hate privacy, this is by far the most sensible choice).

Personally I recommend Lun3r (based on NewMoon) because it fixes the broken extension issue.

>Some of them, like the ones you get here. Others flat out hang and the script has to be manually stopped to regain use of the browser.
I haven't had that proble. All cloudflare captchas work in NewMoon for me. As do Anubis captchas. I remember hCaptcha failing to load though.

>l. Try something like reddit, instagroom, google, smugmug, etc.
Reddit and google also work fine, though (this is an issue with palemoon as a whole) reddit creates a bunch of ghost javascript that the garbage detector can't remove which causes sluggish performance until you restart the browser. This can be fixed by using old.reddit. I renders the new page fine though.

I don't use instagram and have no idea what smugsmug is.

>Supermium is pozzed
It has flags to let you run it ungoogled.

>myPal68
my experience is that its the worst of the bunch. The rendering engine has worse compatibility due to being decade old firefox, it has a lot of broken or nonfunctional features like searching with the address bar, and only works with decade old extensions, as opposed to newmoon, which at least has niche extension support.

>Song submission rules/guidelines
Upload the file somewhere, preferably in a lossless format, and post the link here. If you want to update your track, make a new post.
Include the song title in the post, and make it clear that your song is a submission for the album.
Optionally you may include cover art for your track, but please confirm that the image in your post is the cover art or it won't be included. You may not use your real artist name.
Songs that contain anything against YouTube's policies won't be uploaded on YT, but will still be added to the album.
By default, tracks will be normalised to -14 LUFS (integrated loudness) in the release. You may specify a lower loudness for your track.
Use of AI is banned. This includes AI generated stems, samples, and effects. "AI" includes all neural network-based models and not hard-coded automation/procedural generation. You are allowed to ask an LLM about music-related questions, but asking it to give you musical ideas (eg. generating a chord progression) is already a no-no.
