Install Gentoo. Or whatever flavor of *nix is best for the job or most comfy for you. Jellyfin/Emby/Plex to replace Netflix, Nextcloud to replace Googlel, Ampache/Navidrome to replace Spotify, the list goes on. Look at the awesome self-hosted list and ask.

To the anon who recommended me get a little aftermarket fan hub for my MC13-LE3-000, thank you.

Noticed some weird shit with the BMC LAN on my Gigabyte MC12-LE0
It randomly decides to not ethernet, most of the time it recovers, but sometimes it needs a kick via switch port cycle.
This doesn't feel normal...

Is an X220 good enough for things like homeserver, various other home server stuff other than explicitly transcoding media? My other options are an X250 (that I'm already using for a server, but no home assistant stuff but it's gonna be used for media streaming) and an rPi3 (which I am beginning to think I will never use)
>>
>>107688596
Sorry, I explicitly meant to write "Home Assistant" because that's what I'm aspiring to do

Homoass doesn't really need a lot of power unless you go really crazy.
If you already have a X250, just throw it there and see if it is happy or you actually need to migrate

We buying memory now or later?

What is the use case for hcp Packer?

I did watch few tutorials and the "image creation" seems to be taking an existing image and then deploying it to a cloud. Instead of being something like docker compose but for vms.

Holy shit, I completely forgot about that. Glad it worked though bro.

Thanks king, was reorganizing the other day and found the fan hub, so I decided to try and just plug it into a molex power adapter without even bothering with the signal cable and see what happens. One thing lead to another and here we are. So now I don't even need to remove any of my old fans from the fan pins of the motherboard itself - I just have 10 new free pins for fans, all of which run 3 and 4 pin without complaining. And like you mentioned before, the wattage difference is negligible before and after between an extra fan or two.

For fuck's sake, I just want to use this to make a simple wired LAN with a couple of Lenovo ThinkCentres running Ubuntu. Did I just fuck up and buy the wrong switch? No matter what I fuck with, I cannot get a network up.
This is on-topic, I'm building a cluster server.
>>
>>107689296
Whar's the issue?
Besides all the dust everywhere
And why get a PoE switch for clustering?

Elaborate.

The thing on top knocked over is a pi 4 with a PoE hat. I want each of the Lenovos to have a few pi 4s to mess around with SLURM - so ideally I'd start with 2 thinkcentres with 2 pi4s each and do kind of a 2-tier distributed or parallel-distributed thing going on.
My issue is probably that I haven't set up a DHCP server on one and am retarded but I'm also running into the issue that I'm not using a wired internet connection - I'm going off my parent's wifi.
Basically I'm retarded but where there is a will there is a way.
