What is Steam's secret? Why is Steam so succesfull?

That's the actual reason. Unmentioned so far. They're not public, no shareholders, so they're successful.
>>
>>107735621
>no shareholders
they have shareholders anon, newell being the biggest. they're just not publically traded.

Prices increases because of economy, taxation and consumer demands. A storefront just sells games, Tim.

>What's wrong is you buy a product and you don't own it.
You don't buy a product, you buy a licence.

>This is a permarental service which is morally wrong.
It's not rental, you buy it once and will last until the contract between you and Steam is breached or the specific game licence agreement is terminated.

>>107732454
>that decision would lead to everyone pulling out of steam since you've decimated their long term revenue?
Just like billionaires will flee the country if you increase their taxes right? Give me a break.

>Hurr durr, developers will flee from Steam if they'll add refunds

steam encourages a culture of blatant consumerism. don't think about anything but the product itself, it's not your problem.
it's ubisoft's, until they start solving it with dlcs and paid mods and gacha microtransactions, then it's your problem but not valve's.
>>
>>107732253
they were the first to force you to use their store for the game
iow, they were the first to sell you a license to the game that's tied not to the copy on the disk, but an online service.

These lolcows had only two things, LeCun and inventing distillation, but LeCun left and distillation happened with the first Llama model back in 2023. Since then they have done jack shit on the frontier outside of the internet making fun of Zack for paying billion dollar salaries to some zoomers with good grades. If you want to see actual strong AI team that actually innovates instead of just doing alchemy with LLMs look at the Google Deepmind team.

Good. Deepseek is still better than anything else.

But are they going to fix the issue of ds looping endlessly, once in a while?
It's when you ask for a list and ai starts thinking or outputting a random endless list or repeating 2 items from the list.

1) Jewish autist genius invents new breakthrough technique
2) American businessmen scale and monetize the techinque, making big money
3) Although the technique is already operating to its full potential, chinese and indian programmers jump in the mix, tweaking it and manipulating it in superficial ways that trick metrics into producing higher scores. These are bullshit manipulations, and users notice no improvement in performance or sometimes a degradation (You are Here)
4) Another Jewish autist comes along and discovers a new breakthrough that does everything the prior technique did but at 10x efficiency

(and repeat to infinity...)

are YOU learning how to re-ball GPUs anon?
You will have to make that 4090 last another decade. Basic electrical skills are going to be required once the jews price you out of new hardware, until the markets realign.

cloud gaming will become extremely popular if this rumour end up being true

the us has this thing where a few companies have monopolized the telecom market, and within every state they bid to hold exclusive rights to serve that area
so now it's a race to the bottom making everyone pay for limited data and slow net speeds. google fiber tried to create infrastructure to servide the entire country but were blocked and lobbied out every step fo the way

Apparently a lot of phone spyware only lives in memory and gets wiped after reboot.

it doesn't matter how much you customize shit to try to tear out functionality and spying like recall that's getting increasingly baked into the OS, it's that windows years ago started bundling CVE security fixes in with these features in their updates.

some vulnerability is found in gnu/linux? you can pull the security patch for it. some vulnerability is found in windows? sorry, you need to install some new AI agentic framework that's bundled with the security patch.

fuck you nigger. and no matter how much shit you tear out of the os to get it working, microsoft will still release updates on patch tuesday that break even the most basic shit like task manager spawning infinite memory leaks.

are you fucking kidding me? go back to india you literal shit eater.

Things have gotten faster since the Americans shit their pants at the start of 2025. Shipping times went from two weeks to under two weeks. Now it's one week. I think they have nothing to ship anymore so random cheap shit can easily get on a fast transport across the Pacific.
I ordered batteries in November that were estimated to arrive in February. Only took two weeks.

It's still novel. Windows 7 did not use completely translucent UIs, only borders and title bars, content areas were opaque. The closest thing to fully translucent UIs was definitely apple's own work in iOS 7. Apple moved away from this, the iOS 18 control center has significant darkening under each control and the Notification Center is very dark + blurs lockscreen wallpaper instead of content underneath.

tl:dr; it's both

when will designers get heads out of their assess and go back to something that resembles utility, usability and readability. At least flatshit had to be implemented for technology and practical reasons, since skeumorphism didn't scale well to different DPI, screen sizes and surfaces and could be more easily be translated to high contrast for visually impaired when done right.

Nobody's going to learn the bash terminal unless they are some basement dweller who lives on their PC. Even people who use their PC for work aren't going to fuck around with stuff like that. The terminal went away in the early 1990s on Windows and Mac because it's trash and linux hasn't evolved with them.
