Kubuntu for normies coming from windows 11. I daily drive kubuntu because it just werks.

It's the only serious linux windows 11 competitor. You can use snaps, flatpaks or ubuntu packages in a clean, fast, sleek interface.

When SteamOS comes out as a desktop ISO we'll see people switch more but you can switch right now for a great windows 11 competitor.

KDE is the only serious windows 11 alternative on linux and they fix desktop bugs relatively quickly with a big dev team so its pretty good.

Might be an unpopular opinion but windows 11 is basically the same shit as 10. With the exception of a few irritations like the shitty right-click, explorer, notepad, it's the same OS. No one who liked 10 should have a problem using 11.
By now, KDE is genuinely better at being a DE but the trash in windows is a decent trade for being able to use basically all hardware and software in common use without tweaking.

t. wanna use Windows Storage Spaces as my NAS. It fits every single one of my requirements, it's the perfect fit for what I want...except for the waking drives problem. That is just gonna wear out the HDDs prematurely.

Also, twice now I've had monitor output ports burn out, no idea why. The main HDMI port fried when I ran out of memory (too many Firefox tabs open) and the CPU started thrashing with page swapping. Then one of the USB-C-DP ports fried from the same thing. I've got one last USB-C-DP and if that fries I'll have to try to use the DVI port, which apparently is replaceable if I go to Taiwan and beg ASUS to swap the daughterboard for it.
