i just use the cachyos kernel on arch since the optimizations seemed nice. Haven't noticed a huge difference in performance but haven't had any issues either.

My motherboard doesn't have tpm anyway. But that being said, I switched to linux mint. Even windows 10 ltsc was running slow for me
>>
What's your long term strategy when nobody but a few boomer schizos are using 10? I don't think deciding to become a die-hard loyalist to one particular Windows release is worth it in the long term compared to just biting the bullet and migrating somewhere else. People say "forced" because obviously you have to make a decision eventually you're just postponing it while there's still a grace period. Given this board's demographics you're probably not that old and you're choosing a very difficult and inconvenient future on computers and for what? I'll see you and the 7 tards in 2050 when we're all wrinkly and I'll be laughing as you post copes about how you don't need to do anything on your computer but use a fork of Notepad++ maintained by 2 Kazakhs who are only on the OS you have volunteered to be on because it's what happened to be on some old office computer they found in an abandoned building.

because my """server""" is literally just a first gen intel NUC with 8 USB HDDs attached so ZFS is not an option due to hardware limitations.
>>
>>107654812
That's about as retarded as pulling a working lightbulb when another one goes out. The raid software tells you which serial number is failed. The serial number is on a sticker on the disk, that's the one you replace.
>>
>>107657567
>The raid software tells you which serial number is failed.

great and how do you map the serial number to the drive unless you manually labled your drives OR you have enterprise grade RAID racks from dell or so?

learn to fucking read fucking jeet.
>>
>>107657693
You take the disk out, look at the sticker, and if it's the wrong one you try again. Or yeah, you lable your shit dumbass.
>>
>>107657952
>look at the sticker

that's exactly the point. there is no sticker unless you are in a professional envoirment.

Any version of Windows since 1995 has been more polished, production-ready and user-friendly than any Linux distro ever made. That's obvious to anybody who has installed both of them on the same machine.

Are Linux users just lying about their distros being a better experience than a Windows installation?

I have an ye olde Win7 install on one of my older computers, but I haven't booted into that in like 8 years.
Linux gets everything done, I need computers for, and does it better than Windows ever did.
The only striking argument in favor of Windows these days is, that it comes pre-installed with ready-built computers.
>>
>>107621970
I am more willing to solve whatever issue Linux throws at me and find a solution to integrate whichever application is not directly compatible with it than to upgrade to Win11. I got it at work, it's awful bloat, the Office and Adobe suites are the ones doing the heavy lifting for the OS. If there were native versions of Excel and Photoshop for Linux I can assure many more would switch to a user friendly distro like Mint

Chrome doesn't have web based UI.
Firefox has it and that's why people who like to customize their browser use it.
>>
There is no such thing as a native UI on Linux, and """native""" on Windows means of one 8 different UI technologies. Not having a WebUI is not the death of ladybird but it would be nice to have as an option, in my opinion.

I thought most M-Discs made today were either scams or just not up to the quality of the original ones. Otherwise I just wish tape storage was more accessible for most people without needing to get $1000+ drives and adapters.

You're supposed to have multiple backups and redundancy in your storage, plus the assumption that a single physical medium will last your entire life is fundamentally incorrect. If you want to keep data for your entire life, you will have to periodically make new copies on newer storage media and also inspect your stuff for failure / degradation.

you can adjust everything on cheapo crt monitors you can on my pvm.
Focus color geometry etc
PC Monitors and PVMs fill entirely different roles
PVMs are just fancy TVs, you cant even use one as a monitor for a modern PC

And a few still have stupid flaws that cook capacitors and stuff like that
But generally they are very durable
