I was gonna buy an HP omnibook with a snapdragon processor but I googled to see if it worked with my rollo label printer. It doesn't.

The one with the broken flex cable was Bestbuy marketplace, straight from a refurbishing company.
The other one with the Absolute persistence problem was bought from a legit store, equivalent of Micro Center you guys have in burgerland. Although it was refurbished by a 3rd party, not by the store itself.
>>
>>107690646
You can print through a fucking phone. Why wouldn't a snapdragon processor work?
>>

>are we still avoiding ARM processors
The only usable ARM computers are macs, since applel went all into it, but at the same time they dropped the ball with thousands of vidya, software and drivers that'll never get ported, same shit when they dropped 32 bit support.
>>
>>107690646
Are you planning on using Windows on it? If so, do you want to run much software other than what it came with?
Yes? Then it's crap garbage avoid like the plague.
Are you going to install Linux? Are there drivers available for the hardware? Are you willing to build software from source when a precompiled binary isn't available?
Then it's much more viable, and should get you more battery life per weight and amount of performance.
>>
>>107697328
Even linux support for these chips isn't great. I was interested in the qualcomm laptops, but qualcomm's lack of support for linux made me lose interest. I am so tired of arm hardware with poor vendor support.

JIT compilers can optimize code heavily, yes. The JVM does that, for example. In the case of Python, the source code to bytecode compiler only does the most basic of optimizations, and the JIT is very basic too (though expected to get more advanced).

Luckily it's Rust and not Python otherwise refactoring the small system that grew is impossible.

Not a SHTF solution. When some, um, people are causing a lot of wars, how come you haven't invested in any radiation hardened computer hardware, anon?
What good is that loicense going to do you after the apocalypse if your machine is zapped?
I'll still be able to play games, watch porn and kino while you sob autistically about your stinkpad. If your machine wasn't for faggots you could log on to my ham radio bbs at night when the skip's good.

Needing some advice on music players for Linux. Running Antergos. Installed a few, and so far the only viable option is Audacious, but it is missing some creature comforts that I got with foobar. Most importantly, I want one that will support some sort of convolver, since I have impulse waveforms for all of my cans. I am using a Schiit stack to play everything. Anyone have any recommended players?

I am regularly amazed that we pretend folders are the right way to organise files. They’re entirely arbitrary. Every competent file system ignores them to its best ability. Why can’t I have a file in two folders? Why does one have to be a “reference”? Why can’t I filter for files that exist in 3 folders with X extension?

We’ve been played for absolute fools.

But approximately the same collection is on my computer too. I just got a brand new computer and I'm about to install Zotero again.

Does anyone know if Zotero is the best way to manage my PDF collection? The one thing I like about it is the ability to put sticky notes on pages that act like bookmarks.

>You're not getting it guys
I would argue it's *you* "not getting it" and resultingly arguing your one use case is the more sensible strategy in all cases.

>because you never accumulated a large quantity of media you wanted categorized more than one way
Because I'm not a retard. It's filed by what it is, then alphabetically. Anything above that isn't the job of the filing system.

>It just becomes an unmanageable hoarder's nest if you do any serious research
No. Only if you don't pay any care and attention. If you throw it all in one folder, ofc it's going to be difficult to locate anything.

>If you do real research you'll collect 20 PDFs in one session and not have time to name them all and put them in neat little folders.
Then you certainly won't have time to actually read them.
Are you possibly confusing research with collecting?

your poor choice of a folder structure is not an inherent problem of the whole concept of folders. pick a better one

also you need a hierarchical structure to be able to apply inheritable access permissions

thanks for making these posts. On my phone right now, but I'll set up a proper repo later today or tomorrow. I've implemented a lot of new features, including
- Thumbnails downloaded asynchronously and cached on disk (which also means there's no special setup required anymore)
- Improved refresh function
- Download button that saves files to a specified download directory, sorted by board
- No elisp: links anymore, so you can re-enable the elisp execution warning without having to confirm everytime you click a cross-thread link

>I should go with default keybindings for most of the them I think
If you prefer modal editing, you could check out one of the packages that vibe well with emacs' default bindings, like meow or hel. I wish Emacs came with a well-configured version of one of these by default. It does come with a vi emulator (viper) but I don't like it.
I typically use Doom Emacs with evil.

So how does wintoys' set security updates for WU? I thought that security updates weren't possible on an non-enterprise system.
Let's say that if I was a business but don't want an enterprise Windows and settled for Pro, I can strip out stuff with NTlite, disable Store and use wintoys to set security updates, I would have a near identical system to iot ltsc?

I have a linux box right here that didn't update in two years and i don't feel the update it.
On another box i skipped updates for also two years, then though "yeah, i guess i update today" and did it and it just works.

Updating on Linux is a complete non-issue.
It only becomes risky if you are on a bleeding edge rolling release distro, since you do not have any stable point in time.
But if you chose such a distro, you know what you are in for.
