I'm still not convinced towards 4k. Why in the fuck would I be convinced in this?
>>107676153The 52" 5K2K looks cool, but I wouldn't pay more than $1000 for it. I'll stick with my OLED G9.

So they're getting rid of "pro" and using "AI" to market their products? Clever girl.
/g/, is there any point in learning the Win32 API in 2025?
>>107679394The dev experience will be worse. Electron provides a bastardized fusion of Chrome and Node.js both running their event loops on the same thread. With WebView2, you only get a browser web view. If you want to call any outside APIs, you have to write all the interop shit yourself and the page describing how to do it makes Arch Linux wiki entries look brief because of course it's all COM based.
>>107678993>compares aboutsaar
>>107678973Unfortunately, old programs that rely on bugs and undefined behavior are the norm, not the exception. Sometimes it's extremely aggravating since legacy apps can seem like they're working then shit the bed in unexpected ways.
>>107679559Windows had crazy backward compatibility long before WinSxS. It was just introduced as a way to deal with different programs wanting different versions of system-installed dlls in a cleaner and more automated way than tossing the relevant dlls into the folders with the exes in question.XP up through 32 bit 10 can run lots of stuff compiled for Windows 3.1 and before.64 bit versions are limited to 32 bit programs, and the oldest I've run is the Paintbrush that came with NT 3.1 which is the same as the Windows 3.1 Paintbrush except it's ported to Win32.
>>107679559WinSxS is pretty much not used by anything. The entire feature is mostly pointless. In practice it pretty much exists solely to support common controls v6.

The pay just isn't good. My new job is medical-adjacent. I work in a psych hospital that is state ran, so I'm now a state employee. I legitimately can not discern the difference between 128kbps audio and anything higher bitrate. For years I've seen anons argue about 320kbps, FLAC, WAV, and so forth. But honest to God, the difference to my ears is near imperceptible. I listen to headphones for 8+ hours every day, and even I can't tell the difference. Sure my equipment is not top-tier, but I doubt that explains it.For my favorite music, I can just about tell the difference between 128kbps and 320kbps. Like if I really try hard. But anything above that.. forget it. I really feel people are lying when they claim they are able to hear nuances beyond 320kbps. I believe higher than 320kbps is hardcore placebo-tier and people who hoard FLACs are raping their limited storage capacity for no reason. What do you think? Is the audiophile culture plagued by lying cocksuckers, or do some people have golden ears?
>>107679874Flac is not even audiophile. Audiophile is things like those fancy oxygen free cables and $10k amplifiers. If we make an analogy to food. Audiophile is like some pretentious 5 star restaurant with all those weird delicacies. Flac is just normal regular food. And lossy is Indian street vendor food, with extra feces.
The point of FLAC is archival and conversion, not listening. You can listen to it, but if you're doing things right your lossy files should sound the same as the FLAC.
>>107677878Ear quality is highly variable Some people are fine with Vorbis -q -1Others can ABX -q 10Most are in the middle somewhere And there’s a very wide middle
>>107680070Why would I keep lossy dupes around when I can just listen to FLACs directly
>>107680083Why would you use FLAC on something like a phone when you can just use lossy audio?

Any version of Windows since 1995 has been more polished, production-ready and user-friendly than any Linux distro ever made. That's obvious to anybody who has installed both of them on the same machine. Are Linux users just lying about their distros being a better experience than a Windows installation?
