modding games on linux is possible but it is 100000 times more annoying than on windows
you will have to figure out how to run mod managers and other modding tools from the same prefix wherre the game is being ran from/installed to. then sometimes you will have to do some dll overrides. you have to look that up on the wine documentation

Yeah, during the Intel era, their main draw was the software.
But only until 10.9, after that, that went down the drain.

>>
>>107616545
And you're pretending that you don't?
>>
>>107615446
the OS doesn't really matter. majority of people caught with CSAM have it on their phone lmfao, they get caught because they're sending it to people on kik or instagram (yes, really).

it seems everyone caught with it has zero opsec knowledge, not even basic encryption, it's just out in the open in their fucking photos folder. that means probably most people who AREN'T caught are encrypting their drives, using proxies etc. so it must be very easy to get away with it if your IQ is over 110 or so.
on the other hand, a guy only recently got out of jail after being held for like 3 years because he refused to decrypt some hard drives the feds THOUGHT had CSAM on them. they had no way of knowing or proving it yet jailed him anyways to try and force him to incriminate himself.
in other court cases people have been compelled to decrypt their drives. it's all legal fuckery and calculated interpretations of the law.

Reason number 5236 of why money and human dont mix. Price sensitivity decreases with absolute wealth. To much admin bloat for anyone to care.

It includes 5-10 years warranty plus guaranteed technicians on call and spare parts. Plus the manufacturer has to take liability insurance in case they get sued. Consumer grade appliances don't need to do this and most of the time, people's lives are not depending on it.

Sometimes no, this can be helpful in situations with high latency. Imagine how annoying it would be to send a 15 MB image through i2p over Tor.

You need a google account to download apps from google servers. You are not required to download them from google. And if you don't you don't need a google account.

00s flip phones didn't have app stores so it doesn't even apply.

If you don't want any google apps preinstalled just install an alternative android distro like GrapheneOS.

>You need a google account to download apps from google servers.

>You are not required to download them from google. And if you don't you don't need a google account.
Correct
>If you don't want any google apps preinstalled just install an alternative android distro like GrapheneOS.
LineageOS or even just ADBdebloating are enough for most users, no need for an OS that can only be installed on Google's hardware
>>
>>107616548
>You need a google account to download apps from google servers.
>No you don't, Aurora
With aurora you are still logging into a google account. They are throwaway google accounts created by aurora (which get banned constantly because they break ToS) but that doesn't change the fact you are still logging into a google account to download apps from google servers.

Is digital piracy (i.e. the unauthorized copying of digital files and the removal of digital copyright protection systems) morally wrong?

Copying of drawings and statues and books etc. I don't think that was ever wrong.
>>
>>107612145
If it causes unmerited loss to somebody and/or is driven by a parasitic mindset, it is, by absolute biblical standards.

Personally I don't think public archival and preservarion of old digital assets without commercial value or security backups (so long as unauthorized distribution doesn't follow) fall in such category.

There is so much ancient and not even that ancient content that is ONLY available by means of internet piracy. I collect 90s and early 2000s porn and there is no way to find this content other than pirating it. Another case where piracy is the only option is country blocks, especially relating to streaming music or movies or shows.
In a lot of places, there aren't legit options to view the content legally. Anime and manga are a great example of this. Legit English publishers only buy the rights to a fraction of what gets released in Japanese, and for the rest of it the only avenue for reading it in English is piracy.

here's a perfect case for this what your talking about, there is this website that archived VST's it's hosted from 2005 - present

there are some VST's in there with keygens for codes to unlock full versions, at the moment in time the developers might have not made money from their software, but their name definitely was made known by people spreading it.

All of the big websites that just linked to the developers website when downloading are 404'd

That's a problem for multiple reasons, main one is that no one can access it anymore. Locked away , lost to time. Only people able to access it are ones with files on their hard drive.

This website is a very special case, at the moment it might have felt unethical to host the files. like a dagger to the back, felling wrong, but ten years later when absolutely no one is hosting the files, feels like you have a time capsule in your hands.

Now scale up the idea of just VSTs to other software, movies ect... when you come across that website that is hosting it show love bro

This is not a drill, it's finally confirmed that China has a working EUV prototype since early 2025, it's just undergoing testing and verification right now, expected to enter large scale production by 2028-2030.

>In a high-security Shenzhen laboratory, Chinese scientists have built what Washington has spent years trying to prevent: a prototype of a machine capable of producing the cutting-edge semiconductor chips that power artificial intelligence, smartphones and weapons central to Western military dominance, Reuters has learned. Completed in early 2025 and now undergoing testing, the prototype fills nearly an entire factory floor.

>The availability of parts from older ASML machines on secondary markets has allowed China to build a domestic prototype, with the government setting a goal of producing working chips on the prototype by 2028, according to the two people. But those close to the project say a more realistic target is 2030, which is still years earlier than the decade that analysts believed it would take China to match the West on chips.

>The breakthrough marks the culmination of a six-year government initiative to achieve semiconductor self-sufficiency, one of President Xi Jinping's highest priorities. While China's semiconductor goals have been public, the Shenzhen EUV project has been conducted in secret, according to the people.
