>>107119199personally i wish there was an app that forced me to vest my money for at least 1 year, to stop me from spending it due to lack of self control if i can just take it out any time. it puts the money in S&P 500 for me and if i choose a vestment of 1 year if will drip feed me 1/52th (52 weeks in a year) of my money back per week. am i really the only person who needs an app like this? think about it, if it forces you to vest the money and it gives you the +10-15% appreciation per year, and you keep putting like half your paycheck into it every time you get paid -instead- of putting it in a savings account, in no time the amount it drips back to you every week will be enough to live off of. it gives me a feeling of security.example:>you make $2000/week but can frugally live off $1000/week so you put $1000/week into vestment, which will drip you back $20/week, or 1% of your typical paycheck or 2% of half your paycheck which you kept.>after 12 weeks you're getting dripped back $240/week. add that to the $1000 of your paycheck you keep and you have $1240, it's like getting a 2% raise every week, feels like progress.>after 52 weeks you've hit equilibrium, $1000/week is dripping back to you. now if you wanted to from there you can choose longer vestment periods like 2 or even 3 years and now the amount dripping back to you actually EXCEEDS the amount of your full paycheck if you had never vested any at allanyone seeing what i'm saying here? it's a forced delayed gratification app.
>>107119294Mark Bussler from Classic Game Room is a creator that I really enjoy from way back in the day. He's expressed a lot of discontent with the current state of things, and he said in a podcast, his words, not mine: "The only way left to make money anymore is to make physical, tangible goods and selling them online".So yes, sell something online with a site, but the software itself is a solved problem and has been for aeons upon aeons upon aeons. You can use Wix, or Shopify, or stand something up yourself (but why though?); actually focus on the product to sell, and it has to be something tangible and physical and that people actually want to buy.But making money off of the software only is just a flat out no. It's a way too oversaturated market, even more with the AI being around.

>>107087015Emacs + org roam + git is great on the desktop, but I wish there was an all in one app when I want to jot something down on my phone. I have to use logseq + orgzly + gitsync and it just doesn't mesh well like having everything in emacs does. Maybe it'll be better on SailfishOS, one more reason to switch I guess.
>>107110565Look into the emacs starter kits (doom, witchmacs, spacemacs, etc). I like doom, it's got a lot of options, easy to add org-roam to it. Last I looked witchmacs wasn't maintained but that was a while ago, never used spacemacs.

>>107119569Aside from disconnecting it from the internet? No
>>107119559>And yet you couldn't substantiate that with a single example?I've leaned a lot about media piracy and getting media locally. I didn't know the first thing about yt-dlp or how to rip media streams from web pages before I started using a machine that couldn't stream video in the browser. I didn't know about About:config and user agent spoofing either. I didn't know about using ffmpeg encoding before I was forced to use it to recode av1 videos into something my cpu can decode at a decent speed. I've learned quite a lot of windows shell commands and am much better with the Windows and DOS command prompts.>Name someThere are lot of nice looking windows managers for Linux I wanted to use, but couldn't because they haven't been updated in a decade or two, meanwhile the new versions use one hundred times as much ram and cpu while looking like shit. Those being KDE, XFCE, and Gnome. Audacity is currently killing itself with a major redesign, and this is after it already added telemetry. Blender continues to remove features like its game engine or CUDA support for older GPUs while constantly hiking RAM usage. In terms of Windows programs Free Download Manager went to shit, Word went to shit as well. >It doesn't work thoughI repeat again, it works on machine. I haven't gotten pwned yet, despite doing this for15 years.

Don't worry, your leaders have it all figured out. We will just keep pouring all 2 billion Indian Hindu rape rats from India, into the rest of the world and either hand them your job, or outsource your job to them back in India (which will later be a qualification used to help them migrate to your country anyway). This is somehow the answer to every IT/tech jobs problem. When will this end bros?

Outsourcing has always been the perfect crime. You make laws to show you care about human rights and the environment while offloading you sweatshops and high-pollution factories to third world countries and then continue to chastise those countries for destroying the planet
Once you remove white, racist CEOs from positions of power, the new leaders realize you can get cheaper, higher quality workers elsewhere.

What is the /g/ approved smart TV?
I used to have a Hisense TV. Very good bang for the buck, despite being Chinese. After a couple years, I realized that I watched everything on my PC so I sold the TV. My living room is kind of an unarranged mess right now, though I don't miss having a TV really. Main benefit of PC watching is that I can scratch my autism itch by glancing at IMDb during whatever movie or show. That, and it's much easier and faster to acquire whatever movie or show I do want. >What about having people over?I don't really, and if I do, there's lots more to do than sit and watch something. We're talking and actually hanging out.
