macs have:
>soldered SSD/RAM/WLAN

doesnt exist on 99% of PCs

Are you ready to embrace Resolute Racoon? Release set for April 23, Beta out now.

>7.0 kernel
>GNOME 50
>New document reader, Evince replaced by Papers (built in Rust)
>New image viewer, Eye of GNOME replaced by Loupe (built in Rust)
https://documentation.ubuntu.com/release-notes/26.04/summary-for-lts-users/

I know at least one of you will make a certain post, and I'm betting with myself how many replies it'll take before it arrives.

I'd like to daily drive Pop OS but I'd rather COSMIC become more stable first.
>>
>>108520558
OP here, I'm actually running Win11 and don't mind it, since after a bit of tweaking it's mostly 'just works'. That said, I'm testing out the live image as I type this and it's the best linux experience I've had to date. Say what you will about Rust, but the image viewer is damn fast. Never was a fan of GNOME, but I actually prefer this to the Fedora 44/KDE beta I recently tried. Fractional scaling looks nice in 4K, fonts are decent (Ubuntu has always had good fonts), and there's no gpu issues because this kernel/distro has full support for Intel Arc.
>>108520592
I'm not trans, I want it to work, especially with my proprietary software.
>>108520618
I'm a fan so far. With this release they finally have a nice system monitor too, the stock one I've seen with GNOME 50 is horrible. This one "Resources" is written in Rust (of course), but I cannot argue against it.

I'm going to stop bully lintards/lintroons now, this system is pretty good. I think I might commit to using it for a week to see if it's a viable replacement OS.

Not to mention it's an LTS release so this release will get 5 years of support and 10 years with Ubuntu Pro for free, which is pretty great.

I don't feel like fixing it, instead I decided to get a decent phone and survive with it for a while until I can afford to build a real PC
Should I get something like used S24+ (Exynos, I can't find the SD version in my shithole) so I can supposedly use it with my 27" 1440p monitor, or would that be a retarded idea and I should go for something with more raw power but no such features like a new Poco F7 (SD, similar price)

Try the new gemma4:e4b, if too slow, try gemma4:e2b

both are already available in Ollama
>>
>>108520655
Thanks, will try those
Though I really wonder if I might just be doing something wildly wrong configuration-wise. I have ollama running on the MacBook and serving my local network, and OpenCode running on this machine (I don't like coding on my mac). It's able to connect to the other machine, it just performs poorly.
>>
>>108516367
None really. I believe all models that are runnable on consumer grade hardware suck. But if you want to experiment, OpenCode is the way.

You can also try to host the models in cloud like Runpod if you're curious trying out some bigger ones like kimi k2.5
>>
>>108520666
Local agentic coding is currently really slow, even for top tier hardware
>>
>>108520701
>>108520704
Ok, yeah that's what I figured. Thanks.
I was able set up an agent config with no tools, just chat, and it responds very fast, just like in ollama directly. I guess all of the context for the tools is what kills the performance. Guess I'll get out my credit card...
