Librem is the only one with fully working hardware support. It's kept afloat by being the only smartphone you can have on RF or gov't info sensitive sites. Which is to say it's defense contractor priced and very old hardware.

No such thing aside from Pixel+GrapheneOS. GrapheneOS is even significantly more secure than your average desktop Linux.

Underrated. Bathrooms often have echo and unless you live alone and don't have neighbours upstairs-downstairs etc, you would want some kind of noise present while you take a shit. Becaues it is suposed to be a very private thing (more mental comfort for you) and it is unpleasant for everyone else to hear your fart echoing through the entire building.

probably complaining windows search is absolute fucking dogshit speciallty in the taskbar.

example today I wanted to open my office software so I typed "office" and it could not find "only office" "wps office" "libre office" it can't search for 2nd terms or things has not been specially tagged to find.

open everything search type "office .lnk" was faster.

A browser with a deliberately small, simplified HTML/CSS subset and optional JavaScript implemented as a plugin rather than built-in. The goal: keep HTML and CSS compact and predictable so any novice could implement a compatible browser from scratch. Instead of adhering to the full official specs, use a purposefully limited subset to avoid the complexity and bloat of modern web standards an easy way to simplify and streamline the web.
completely ignore other "modern" features such as webgl/webassembly etc.

any such project? I'm aware of gemini protocol but this one is too minimal.

yeah it really does. Forever linux people have said that the only reason people don't use linux is because it's not preinstalled. the only tenable solution to that is an easy-to-use installer. ubuntu has had this for 15 fucking years or longer but somehow arch didn't get the hint and hacked together archinstall which is straight up broken most of the time

arch with an installer would easily be the most popular disto, given the success of Antergos, EndeavourOS, Manjaro, Garuda, and now cachyOS...

99% of the new releases on steam were either rated as functional or verified on protondb. I don’t even know why you’d say something to blatantly untrue.

>just get things done

Okay first off why are you trying to act like you aren’t the same poster? Second off that’s utter bullshit, windows 11 is barely functional slop that breaks constantly. Microsoft has released 6 security patches in the last year alone that bricked windows 11 systems, they replaced system apps with webapp rewrites that perform worse and and they fill the OS with unwanted AI garbage. Even if you removed the jeetnigger AIDs from windows 11 the OS is just a worse windows 10 with more resource usage and more ads. The fucking sheer volume of ads in every part of the windows UI is downright insulting. There is NO excuse for ads being in the start menu, there is NO excuse for fake email style ads in my outlook, there is NO excuse for ads in the fucking settings menu. If you defend this garbage at all you are either retarded or you get a paycheck from Microsoft.

>Second off that’s utter bullshit, windows 11 is barely functional slop that breaks constantly.
I've used it for 3 years now, not one single breakage on update.

What are these fucking ads you retards always go on about? Is it just ads for 365? I have a subscription so I suppose they don't need to sell me harder. I'm also running Pro, does that turn them off? I've seen some claim it's recommended applications, but that's just a simple toggle that you can turn off. As for webUI, they are annoying in that they use way too much ram, but they're not even slow to open, which I suppose is how this got out the door in the first place.

None of the common complaints about Windows 11 actually get in my way of doing of what I need. I'm not going to suffer some shoddy hobbyware just because someone spams "jeetnigger" at me.

i constantly think about if the situations were reversed. If windows was the weird offshoot OS, the way that it currently functions would be completely and utterly unacceptable.
Every single time someone bitches about linux doesnt work with [PROGRAM], its almost entirely [PROGRAM] refuses to allow linux use despite the fact that it very easily could like the anticheats that valorant and battlefield use. Its an active decision by whatever company to not allow it.

This year's Debian Project Leadership election has only ONE candidate and it's a Pajeeta (Sruthi Chandran):
>She is inactive on the mailing lists, and her Salsa profile is private so we can't even see what her coding contributions are.
>She's run for DPL 4 times before; lost each time
>Her entire platform is just about diversity and bitching about cis males
>She intends to formally incorporate Debian in the US, which would force Debian to introduce age verification
Her only claim to fame is organizing DebConf23, an event where a Debian developer literally fucking DIED because basic health & safety measures were not followed.

A much more qualified candidate was hospitalized during the nomination window and couldn't apply in time, yet she has refused to reopen nominations.

Debian is FUCKED unless the Debian developers all vote NOTA (None of the above).

They think this old tech will somehow help but it's already too late. Your brain won't just heal itself again to what it was. You might mitigate some elements but there is no going back. The Amish never have this issue and if you compare the average American zoomer to them it's light year apart in social skills and personal strength.

ADHD isn't real and telling kids they have it teaches them that self control is literally impossible for them by nature. It's the tyranny of low expectations.
I was diagnosed with ADHD as a kid because I was normal and couldn't sit still in a classroom all day. I quit taking my pills when I was 12 or so and have literally never had any issues. I would say if anything I have much more ability to focus than my peers. I don't want to dox myself but I'm very successful in life and I work in several fields that require a lot of focus.
If I had to guess, I would say that ADHD is just another racket to sell extremely overpriced drugs to Americans who don't need them, similar to the opioid crisis.
>>
>>108510014
I'm a zoomer and I've bought a few cheap devices meant for singlular tasks. I have an mp3 player to listen to podcasts while I fall asleep so I don't go on the Internet in bed. I don't "need" podcasts to fall asleep but sometimes my ears are ringing pretty bad in silence. I bought a used Kindle to read eBooks. I could just read PDFs on my computer but it strains my eyes after a while and I'm not a consumerist willing to spend thousands on dollars on expensive books. I bought a used ThinkPad specifically for writing that I sometimes use, but I write a lot on my desktop as well. Do I "need" these devices to get stuff done? No, and I don't use TikTok and Instagram on my phone. Me getting distracted is spending 30min on here or YouTube or reading Reuters. But I want to avoid that and these are a low cost option to make it a bit easier by increasing friction between productive/healthy tech use and time wasting. I hate the trademark disposition of this site where millennial losers LARP as 130 IQ super productive "autists" (using it as a costume like a teenage girl on tiktok btw) that don't fall victim to peasant behavior like wasting time online, as if they don't spend hours on here. There is nothing wrong with being realistic about the possibility for distraction when using devices and websites that have billions of dollars invested in maximizing user retention. The mindset for most people buying these things isn't "this cute iPod will cure my ADHD", it's "this could be a quick and cheap method to help kickstart me to be more productive". Which is ironically a much more honest and mature perspective than the millennial supergenius 4chan larpers who have the classic "all or nothing" perfectionist approach to life that plagues the hobby boards of this site. Grow up

There are a metric fuckton of cheap and completely open hardware/firmware SBCs from just about anywhere. BeagleBoard (Texas Instruments, USA), Libre Computer (China), Pine64 (HK), Odroid (Hard Kernel , South Korea), there is no justification for using a crappy phone board with no access to schematics, design files and firmware for that.
>>
>>108516761
Even if you rip out the battery some phones refuse to start without a battery even if you are supplying power via USB. You have to trick the phone into thinking the battery is connected
