Im not. Im another anon. I just find it funny when people say that phones are cheap. No they arent. That $61 ass poverty phone isn't playing anything but text messages
>>
>>107627730
That $61 phone has way better specs that most people's old ass phones and does everything except play top games. You don't need more.

Go to any linux forum and say an opinion that's remotely right leaning without getting into some sort of trouble, go on I'll wait.

Why doesn't MS get enough credit for DirectX?

Every GPU innovation ever only exist because Microsoft kickstarted it through DirectX. Remember when GPU went from the separated Vertex and Pixel shaders paradigm to the unified shaders paradigm around 2006 ? That was because Microsoft rewrote their graphical API stack for WIndows Vista and the Xbox 360. NVidia and ATI only created GPUs that would work with the new API.

DX12 on Windows PCs and Xbox is pretty kino.
>>
>>107627457
they don't get credit for a lot of things they did in windows
>>
>>107627457
when shit just works nobody notices

They got credit for it in the form of people using their platform for so long. The current team does not deserve credit for this, but people still give the old teams credit by saying windows used to be good. There's not much point praising the current product for something made by people who are no longer there.
>>
>>107627457
directx was never that great, it was just the lesser of 2 evils, after voodoo died and glide3d with it, you had to choose between opengl or directx, opengl stagnated, thus directX was the obvious choice, but they too dragged their feet on many things , for instance ati cards have had a tessellator unit since the radeon 8500 (2001), but we didn't see proper tesselation support until dx 11, if you wanted to use it you had to use a custom vendor extension, same was true for nvidia, many features were not added to the directX spec , only available through custom vendor extensions ,

Of course if micosoft wasn't bad enough, they actually do offer access to these features on their console versions of directX(on the xbox and xbox360 ), but decided not to push them to PC for market segmentation reason, same reason we didn't get halo 3 on pc at launch despite them having a pc build of it ready.

so Generally microcunt , is fake and gay and they deserve all the hate they get.
>>
>>107627820
at the time, competitor to glide was direct3d
directx is wrapper for all things including direct3d, sound cards, input etc

the answer is simple. take every post seriously, but also understand that every post is satire. i refuse to believe people are having trouble with this captcha. maybe its just phonefags who have to thumb the scrollbar or something but in no reality is this shit 'hard'. i compared this to shape sorting blocks and a speak and say because this is genuinely toddler shit and i REFUSE to believe any of this is serious

I think I might do this. I've been toying with the idea of selling my 4090 since it has appreciated in value even tho almost three years old. I could make all my money back plus upgrade CPU, mobo and sidegrade to an AMD card... Tempting. It's not quite as exaggerated in the article but I just checked ebay and 5800X3D's are apparently all selling for over 400 bucks. Crazy market.

Nice, cool shit. how long have you been making the engine? I've been wanting to try it out too, but more as an exercise and see what I learn from it. never done any game engine stuff, only data side of things.
>>
>>107627554
In terms of real working time I'd say about 4-5 months? In real time about a year and half. But I started in Rust, then Lisp, then Nim for a bit, then back to Lisp. So lots of exploration in there that I wouldn't really count. If I had to do it all over again it'd probably only take a month or two but this was my first CL project so lots of big rewrites, learning the language, etc. Also I work a full-time job so not as much time as I would want to be able to allocate to it.
>I've been wanting to try it out too, but more as an exercise and see what I learn from it. never done any game engine stuff, only data side of things.
Definitely do it, it's a lot of fun. CL has been the most fun I've had programming. What type of game do you have in mind?

Is there some lisp OS project going on that I'm unaware of? I've been wondering since the 90s how come no one is attempting to sell a modern lisp machine. A microkernel combined with a userspace entirely written in LISP seems like the obvious way forward. We can run all the POSIX and NT/Win32 shit through emulation layer and finally be happy.

No Guix and StumpWM doesn't count.

Wrong. I just asked my chatgpt if a man can change his gender and become a woman, and it told me that it was not possible, and that a man can only change his appearance and certain qualities, but that that doesn't change the fact that he is still a man. That's the rational take. And no, I haven't told my chatgpt to act like a /pol/tard.

I wouldn’t say it’s gimmicky, because the OnePlus 15 isn’t even capable of doing a lot of the 3dMark stress tests without shutting down due to overheating and requires a cooler for sustained load. My Red Magic 11 was able to run everything with no issues. I’ll be buying a OnePlus 15 and Galaxy S26 Ultra next. I have the iPhone 17 Pro max as well. So far I can say the fan and cooling is for sure not fake. The phone runs literally cooler.
