Nokia is back in phone business.
t. Finland

>Developed and manufactured in Europe, the new product features a long-lifecycle chipset from Qualcomm. The Nokia Mission-Safe Phone is an open, customizable platform designed to seamlessly integrate new features, applications, and accessories, adapting to diverse customer needs and preferences. For demanding conditions, Savox Communications’ complementary solutions can deliver superior audio performance and clear communication. Visitors to this year’s DSEI UK (9–12 September) can explore these innovations at the Nokia booth.

>Validated with the Nokia Banshee portfolio of 4G and 5G tactical communications solutions, the Nokia Mission-Safe Phone offers military-grade durability and supports high-bandwidth applications, including multimedia and data-intensive operations. It is available in three versions, each adapted to support a range of missions and operational needs. All variants are MIL-Standard 810H and IP68 certified, ensuring resilience, reliability and mission readiness in any environment. Its rugged design and strong security make it a trusted choice for defense teams operating in demanding operational scenarios.

>FDE (Full Disc Encryption) algorithm on hard drive w/ KeePassXC/masterpassword.app/BitWarden on USB flash drive
>Banana Pi BPI-RV2 and Wio Lite RISC-V board integrates a RISC-V microcontroller for modem/router functionality
FPGA/Soft-MAC Wi-Fi (Open80211) modules for fully open 802.11 networking experiments; setup includes an FPGA development board (e.g., Lattice iCE40 or TinyFPGA), open-source PHY/MAC implementation, and software stack such as Open80211, connected via USB or GPIO to Talos II and optionally bridged to RISC-V boards
>SiFive FE310 as an open-hardware USB-to-UART/SPI/I2C bridge replacement, plus a Bus Pirate (open-hardware) when you want a flexible serial/GPIO bridge
>Connect your ethernet cables to your proprietary default ISP hardware and you can now use IP over DHCP to establish a private network connection, using a SOCKS5 proxy you scripted in Python using ChaCha20, Poly1305, X25519 and Kyber to protect your connection from DNS leaks to your ISP

But even then e-ink paper displays are low refresh rate and poor quality, so aren't good for multimedia, your connection is going to be slow as fuck due to limited support for open wifi cards, your processing power is shit and compiling Gentoo on POWER9 is going to be time consuming, programming a FPGA and making Wifi modules is going to be time consuming and requires programming know-how, and since ISP routers are proprietary, you won't be able to access certain features.

having a house with land and no rent is also my only option if i want to have a sane life without suicidal thoughts i guess. unfortunately you have to make compromises like everyone else. risc-v SoCs are free and stuff like openbsd runs on the sifive, also sun sparc is still around and while still pricey it's a sane and secure architecture. but most of all, there's no point in paying 15k dollars when you're going to install fucking linux on it with insane packages like modern web browsers and steam or whatever. architectures are only really useful to build software with forced limitations and security measures to spot differences and bugs that you wouldn't spot on the mess that is x86. unless you literally only write text files and program in C and use the internet by downloading raw html and parsing it manually and don't install anything else.

China also blew up it real estate sector, what your point.

Old thread image limit reached.

1. I usually get pro models, but this one is so fucking ugly, aluminum fucking sucked back in iPhone 5S days, your hand acid will etch the porous aluminum out, they made it more rounded so its going to be more resistant to that, but next year they will release a version that has those sharp polished accents like iPhone 5S used to have, and those will etch like crazy.

2. Whole massive bump is a good thing in that they should be able to fit the sliding lens next year for actual optical zoom.

3. the 8X is fake, its same tetra-prism of iPhone 15 and 16, but with bigger 48MP sensor they will be able to crop better and extract more from the telephoto lens. Glass is what limits the ultimate resolution of the sensor, so bigger sensor will give better image quality, zoom in to 8x on your iPhone 15/16 Pro Max right now and it will look the same just slightly sharper, just because of extra pixels, but its still a hack.

4. vapor chamber, metal encased battery, and ceramic coating are the only great additions, metal encased batteries were added some time ago but now it seems we have them across all phones, should be more user service-able, thank Europe for this, because our politicians here do not give a flying mega fuck, and they shit on you poor fucks who don't even have a trust fund. Ceramic coating is amazing if truly added, think CERAN, the "glass" that is used in electric stoves, transmits infrared, crystal structure makes it so it does not shatter from hot/cold shock, hopefully that also translates into shatterproofing.

5. Applel Watch - well, not much to say, hypertension sensor is great, but obviously limited, sleep tracking is fucking retarded, blood oxygen level finally gone it was retarded, you should know when you are asphyxiating from lack of oxygen, A MUCH BETTER ADDITION WOULD BE AIR MONITORING SENSOR!

6. eSIM - fucking cancer, you cannot change or move your SIM w/o carrier approval "for privacy and security." Get bent.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there was no iPad Pro mentioned. If there's a delay, they better be making it bigger. 15 inches would be amazing. And more RAM. It doesn't necessarily need a better processor to run ZBrush or Blender more efficiently.

I would say they are as well known as Seeed or Lilygo in the maker/tinkerer/hobbyist/diy field, maybe not as prominent as an Adafruit (especially in the US), but still. They regularly throw boards at that Eastern European dude for example https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCit2rVgOvhyuAD-VH5H_IHg
I've been looking at some of their recent rotating knobs with a circular touchscreen in the middle for a potential project
>>106539875
If you're someone like me, a software dude who doesn't have a 3D printer who doesn't know how to design/fab custom PCBs, having a manufacturer with a real brand and some quality check delivering integrated "things" with the components you want (in a nice molded case, already soldered), is quite nice.
Teaching is an option too yeah, but you may not be their target anyway

I use KDE and I honestly wish it was better.
It constantly fails to show paired stuff and I usually have to restart it on both devices before sending files. I use it on Windows (desktop + laptop) and android (pixel + chinkheld).
Sometimes I send files to my gf's iPad, but airdrop is obviously much better if you're only using apple shit.

I wish there was a universal airdrop alternative that's pushed by Microsoft and adopted by Google
