Also had that bug. lock ups on firefox just watching videos under linux, so it wasn’t limited to windows drivers. Never got resolved, finally ditched that card
>>
>>107586745
The reference 5700xt design was my favorite one. It worked well in my dancase builds I had zero issues with any type of bsod issues, and once you crank up that fan curve it cooled things very well. It may have also helped that I repasted it with kryonaut and did the washer mod. 6 years down the line it still runs great as a htpc and emulator/light gaming pc.

>>107591796
they had to wait until games became so poorly optimised that ML upscaling became cheaper than just running the game faster

I like my 6800XT so far, glad it has 16GB VRAM. Looks like it will have to last me another 4 years or so.
>>
>>107593740
It was never the drivers. The issue was silicon's logic for switching from low to high power usage and voltage needed was flawed. AMD wanted to make RDNA1 viable for mobile platforms. It was far too aggressive on undervolting and this what caused the "CTD, BSOD that require a cold restart to clear out.
The drivers try to mitigate it by trying not make it undervolt so darn much. It was fixed with RDNA2 which never had any of the issues.

How do garbage collected languages even work? Like if you dont tell it to allocate memory and free it how the fuck does it know to use memory? Also, are these so called "memory safe" langs actually "memory safe"? How do I know that the garbage collector actually works? Its asking quite a lot of me to assume that every single potential use case of memory possible is covered and accounted for both at compile time and run time. If i sound retarded then feel free to correct me, im not a C elitist or anything like that but the concept of trusting a garbage collector to just work and make memory leaks never happen is just crazy to me, it gives me the same uneasy feeling I get when someone tells me to "just have faith in god"

Yes you can have memory leak in a GC application. It is easy to diagnose and fix though.

Any language in 2025 without GC is just tranny.
>>
>>107595201
GC languages don't do away with memory allocation. It's the deallocation part that's algorithmically determined. Every single object has an interface to mark whatever it can reach.
This is compared against everything ever allocated and the missing links can be removed.

I guess one of the perks of being in the PC building scene since the mid 2000s.

I got to see various eras of consumer PC overclocking and thus have a comfortable understanding of manually configuring settings for both CPU and memory.

Back in those days if you fucked up you had to go onto a tech forum and hope someone knew the answer. These days you can usually just google whatever the issue is and either find a forum post detailing what you need, or get an AI that is feeding you the forum post (but formatted slightly differently).
>>
>>107595647
Forgot to mention that it happens both on Windows 10, 11 & Arch, with closed and open Nvidia drivers. Genuinely think it's the slot but I'd love anyone telling me if I am right or smoking crack. My suspicion is that the slot is bad since it doesn't happen when gaming and I've tried just about everything, including throttling the power limit, and it runs fine on the middle slot. So I think a newer chipset with a new board that has a reinforced PCIE slot for the stupid brick of a GPU will do the trick.
>>
>>107595735
>get an AI that is feeding you the forum post (but formatted slightly differently)
i've never had a good experience asking AI for overclocking advice but that's probably because i only ask it esoteric questions that i can't find the answer to anywhere else, hoping there's a nugget of gold somewhere in the training data
but it has to keep generating tokens no matter what so it just hallucinates a nonsensical answer
and of course it always tells you that actually, you're absolutely right

anyway as you might already know you can just apply these on AMD and get some really good performance: https://www.patreon.com/posts/low-effort-rank-77403831
your primaries are correct, you could even do 28-36-36 instead of 30-36-36

>>107595752
sounds like you figured it out already, you could try downgrading to Gen2 in the BIOS but that might bottleneck the card
OCCT has a VRAM test that generates high traffic over the PCIe bus
