I'm such a promptlet
Kek
Happy Christmas to all those who have a soul still burning.
Here's your new run dialog bro
when will msft fire these ai loving jeets and hire actual devs? (probably never since the CEO is also a jeet)
>>107658604I am actually shocked at how unpolished everything in win11 is.
>>107659096Realistically what would happen if Microsoft stopped developing Windows? Governments and businesses depend on it and can't switch to anything else because they need to use some software written for windows 95 and hasn't been updated in 30 years.
>>107659164It's comical you think 11's successor won't be built on AI. Face it, 2032 will truly be a dark day in computing.
>>107659536It started going to shit with 8.1 which had a different kernel and everything than Windows 8. Windows 8 besides the start menu was actually better as a desktop OS than Windows 7 and the start menu could easily be fixed. 8.1 on the other hand destroyed a whole bunch of shit and made major improvements on the metro interface and shit. At a certain point it was Microsoft themselves actively working against Windows 8.
overrated and not useful if you actually do any kind of work.
>>107659690>nichethats void.>>107659727depends on the distro, kernel and your specific model. generally, you'll have to use their proprietary firmware slop.
>>107659094>No wonder it's popular among gamers and 4chanGaymers are either still using Windows or CachyOS or Bazzite and 4chan is too contrarian to use Arch Linux hence why this thread exists
>>107646429Don't ever dual boot with windows on the same drive. Windows randomly updates and bricks your entire system whenever it feels like it. They've done it like 3 times in the last decade.
>>107659997>4chan is too contrarian to use Arch LinuxWhat are you smoking? Desktop threads are mostly arch. They can't be all from Reddit, can they?
>>107654732I run ultra stable Arch ARM on my raspberry pis
I've been using VSCodium, but I worry about the indirect dependency on MS and that some tracking/telemetry or AI integration will eventually sneak in.Code::Blocks looks abandoned, Codelite is nice, but it uses virtual folders, which I hate.I need syntax highlighting and code completion, and KDevelop seems like it fits the bill. There's also Geany, but I've had trouble getting it to work as easily as KDevelop.
>>107659955not him but why would i use neovim instead of vim?i already use vim since years
>>107660004I mean your choice, vim is fine aswell, any terminal editor which supports lsps, debuggers etc. is. Honestly I don't know the differences between a fully kitted out neovim vs vim, if there are any but I simply recommend neovim as it has a larger community and is way more beginner friendly. At least that is how it seemed to me. One benefit vim has is that it is more often preinstalled, of course bare vim vs neovim there aren't that many differences so you won't feel lost having only learned neovim
>>107660004its neo
>>107660028well. then i will continue using vim.vim is so fast and the mode line is great.visual mode, visual block mode etc.vim is really greatest of all. i hardly see how it can be made any better.
and in vim the substitute syntax is taken straight from sed.what more do you need?i briefly tried emacs and it felt like a fucking operating system compared to vim.
Post yfw you're a DDR4 chad who bought 32GB+ for peanuts
upgraded my dual-core elitebook to 36GB in july my friends called me an idiot, and i am, but i felt smug as shit when it went up
>>107659709That's not true. You can buy arm sbc's that use it and probably will continue that way for years.t. Arm user waiting a month for it to sync the btc blockchain
>>107659880>>107659709what the fuck are you talking aboutthe board I bought 2.5 years ago is still up on amazon
>>107659709wut, i see am4's a520 and b550 all the time here, i brought one in '23.
128 gb of unified ram (Mac studio) here
>FedEx has a new CEO>immediately fires a large percentage of American workers>immediately hires a bunch of H1B visa workersAPPLY NOW!
>want total American capitalist hegemony>not willing to be Indianidgi, just be Indian if you want to live and work in America. It's the land of the free, so be free, retard.
>>107658908Yeah no. You can say kike, nigger, any other casual racism on blue boards like always. But as soon as you say anything negative about Indians/Hindu rape rats, you get banned instantly. I have seen this image posted without anything except "why is this allowed" and the Indian Hindu rape rat jannies always remove it and ban the OP. Go ahead, try making the thread yourself. Even on Reddit, you will see occasional negative news about pissrael, but 100% of ALL negative news about India is censored and removed- just compare the daily news reported by India, to what you see if you search "India" on Reddit:https://www.india.com/topic/rape
>>107659287>dems: kikes>republicans: kikesKikes only want Indian Hindu rape rats. Even blacks have fallen out of favor as half of them are getting redpilled on the jews and how they financed the slave ships (see Candace Owens). The 2 billion Indian Hindu rape rats are the perfect golem for the jews: fanatically loyal to jews/pissrael, love raping white women and children, intensely jealous hatred of whites and muslims, breed like rats (25 million births per year), and can send 30 million to every single country on earth and still have 1 billion left in India.
>>107652206Those damn democrats currently controlling all 3 branches of government!
>>107658553Fuck off, Saar
Is CachyOS actually good or just a meme?
>>107653764I'm pretty terrible at judging linux because i used endeavourOS, was good enough and i completely stopped distrohopping.
>>107659914The NSA is in your computer about a dozen different ways whether you use SELinux or not
>>107653764Actually good. If I have to ditch Win10 IoT LTSC, this is where I'll go.
>>107659914You are a try hard that lacks the basic ability to see past your own nose. The arch demographic is the stomping ground for tech illiterate youtubers that don't work in tech to flex their linux know how while doing nothing but playing with Dot files while shilling stupid shit in one of the most dangerous repositories known to man. I can list off the sheer number of frauds that have damaged this board like Trust Fund smith, that fat fuck Broodie as well as a whole gaggle of dumb nerds that do nothing but poke at surface level computing with inflated egos. You are a retard given a playground but you build a system on shattered glass and can't even do basics like security, there are other security routes you can take in linux besides SElinux but your stupid ass has zero idea what it is and thinks that you are immune to exploits just because you're on linux.
genuinely the best distro out there right nowit sands off all the rough edges of arch, makes it easier to get started, provides its useful shit that gives you all the foundations you'd want and their custom stuff and it doesn't hold back power users in any way
What technology items are on your wishlist for Christmas this year?
>>107654540If it wasn't illegal and the child wouldn't get fucked up later I would wish for a real child sex slave
>>107659407Stunning and brave
>>107659348nig
>>107659407who's your cunnyfu?
>>107659910cocomin

Noooo the daily 50 cent thing is gone now.
>>107657403Thank you very much for the explanation anon.
>>107656257>>107657403Some digital ones can take AAA batteries, I autistically soldered a AA battery holder on it and it lasts like 2 years and still show no sign of battery depletion. AAA would probably last a whole year easy anyways.
>>107657618Same here. I got one last dollar before it went away. For a while it was actually possible to claim it twice.
uniuni went on christmas break early.dragonfly shipping delivered on christmas eve
>they dumbed down the captcha
>>107658284They did this to spite us.
>>107642640
>>107658284code quality, UI standards, and intelligence in general from now on will be worse and less efficient. theres nothing to be gained if something does something for you
>>107642428the bots are usually used on /pol/ ..
>>107659336but they're everywhere
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOaSkXue5gEDo /g/ use I2P?
>>107657452Not if you know where to look. A lot of projects have I2P mirrors and it's pretty useful for torrenting.
>>107659625then where to look?
>>107659657>notbob.i2pI'm not sure if it's still working though
>>107657365The only good usecase for I2P is it's original purpose. anonymizing IRC traffic. (and torrenting)
>>107660048torrenting fucking sucks on i2p though>2-3 MB/s>most torrents have 3-5 seeds max>trackers are almost empty
How come there almost no 5k monitors
>>107659806Women don't poop, anon.
>>107658302a 27 inch monitor at arms length at 4k has like 60ppd, which is optimal for human vision. Going higher has little to no benefit. Even if you had a 32 inch monitor, you would place it further back which would lead to the ppd increasing, meaning higher than 4k is again useless. The only place where higher resolutions make sense is AR/VR as having a fov as high as possible is optimal and even the apple vision pro, with its relatively low fov for a vr headset, has like 45ppd at 4k resolution.
>>107658302You can use the toolbar on the viewable screen like everybody else.
>>107659571MacOS uses 4x scaling.So if you want a 2560x1440 deskyop, you need a 5120x2880 resolution screen.
ITT: We post distros used by insecure people who want to use Arch but don't want to get made fun of for using Arch

>>107659073>>107659069it is slow as fuck guys, cmon now.
What is /g/'s verdict on NetBSD?
>>107653159I like it, and it runs well on my x230.
>>107656385>Are you referring to GPU support? Yes
>>107660013VGHHH SOVL...
>>107660013HEY! WHATS WRONG WITH ENGLISH??
>>107659342What do you want out of learning to program? Do you want to build things? Do you want to tinker for fun? Do you want to automate processes to make your life or your work a bit easier? Or do you want a paycheck? If you want a paycheck, I advise you to join a different field. Not because I think it's going away, it's not, but because you're going to hate it and get burnt out more than you like the money.Learning to program and properly learning to learn will change your life though. You will begin to look at everything in the world just a little more differently, you will likely start thinking about things from angles you previously had not considered. You gain a lot more than just technological knowledge. If you take it serious you will gain something you can take with you throughout your entire life. You should start. What else are you going to do this year?
>>107659394I would argue even if AI continues to get better at programming it will still be valuable to have people who understand code. I like to use AI slop for prototypes and if I wasn't able to figure out what it's doing or have the vocabulary to communicate what to do next to it then there would be nothing to cut through the noise and progress the project.
>>107659342Very smart. Demand for programmers will increase, supply will drop to abysmally low and the AI hype train will be to blame. Learn whatever you want, the competition will be shit anyway.
>>107659342for a programming job? veryto make neat little projects in your free time? go for itprogramming is fun when you can just fuck around making things with no risk of being fired if it takes you a week to figure a problem out instead of an hour
>>107659342Go for it, as long as you're realistic about your prospects of getting hired as an SWE.>>107659603I would probably leave SICP for much later. Although theoretically aimed at beginners, it was written in the 80s and it was a different time when it came to learning how computers work/how to program. It's rather abstract and uses a programming language that's rarely used today outside of uni courses. Most programmers haven't read it and have never written any lisp/scheme.CS50 looks good.
