How do I get Nix actually working for my user on Guix? How much does it integrate? Can I manage packages from Nix with Guile? There's no documentation outside: https://guix.gnu.org/manual/devel/en/html_node/Miscellaneous-Services.html#index-nix_002dservice_002dtype which gets me Nix installed system-wide.I have no ~/.nix_profile or /run/.../nix.sh by default. Running any of the newer commands gets me "error: experimental Nix feature 'nix-command' is disabled; add '--extra-experimental-features nix-command' to enable it" So I'd have to use nix-env or enable those. nix-env --switch-profile should generate some of those directorie but nix-env isn't really recommended to use for anything IIRC.

If you use the GNU Image Manipulation Program, there is something wrong with you mentally. It is the only thing preventing me from using a Linux-based OS on a permanent basis. I need Photoshop to work and WINE is buggy as shit. The GIMP is a shit alternative.Prove me wrong. Why would anyone deliberately use this garbage?

This filter I made ships with GIMP 3. When recoloring text use solid color. Multiply only works on recoloring white text. Solid color works on any color text

You know the old adage, "If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear."It usually gets countered by saying "Well, when a future law that opposes my rights is implemented, I want to stay out of it."To that I say, aren't you basically saying "We should disallow chat control because a crime is a necessary part of a free country"?You probably already don't agree with many laws set in place, so what difference will one more law do? It's no different from saying "I oppose chat control because I am a [future] criminal."

can someone explain that part to me?because if a piece of software is open-source under the GPL and everyone has access to it, couldn't they just compile the source code themselves and have a copy of the program?and while not everyone is willing to compile a program from source instead of just paying a small fee (i'd be guilty of that), surely someone would eventually start releasing binaries, right? or they might be able to make a loophole that doesn't distribute binaries but makes the compiling element easier and streamlined. what's even the point of making people pay at that point? or is it intended so that only idiots and people who want to donate will pay?
>>107717573Normies would pay for a product to not have to compile it. Would you prefer the developer's binaries over a literal who's, assuming you cant read code?
>>107717921This.Aseprite is a good example. Regular artists can't be assed to learn software development (even the most basic shit), so instead of compiling Aseprite from the source for free, they pay 10 bucks to steam, or aseprite directly for an already compiled version. It's the convenience of the process. Same reason that, while you can reasonably pirate most games with ease, people still choose to buy them through steam.Yes, someone could start releasing binaries for free, but it's gonna be largely unnoticed by the interested public, asmall niche that some find and use. Hell, you can fork the github page, set it to automatically update to the latest build, then use github pages to automatically compile the latest build. It's just that nobody bothers, cause the convenience of paying 5 bucks for the stuff beats the bother of doing all that, or searching for someone that did it for you.And there's the trust angle. Do you really trust sneedfucker666jakked to compile the stuff without tomfoolery, over the actual dev? If you can read the code to check if it's not tampered, you'd have the know how to compile it yourself.
one of the weirdest things about white people is their incessant need to separate concepts from reality in strange ways.they will say that sure the reality that its free as in beer isnt as important as the conceptual free as in freedom part.
