Do any of you know perl, and know it by heart?
Supposedly PHP i supposed to be for noobs and perl is the patricians choice, but I don't know how many people even still know perl.

the P there stands for PHP
>>
>>107658256
It stood for /P(erl|ython|HP)/i.
>>
>>107654005
It's a shame Raku isn't used. SO MUCH design work went into it.
>>
>>107658355
I was going to tell you you're wrong and the P stands for PHP only, but apparently the Perl/Python part was discussed as early as 2011 https://stackoverflow.com/q/6446385
The people in that thread also mention that PHP was the original P in LAMP stack. It probably has even earlier references of course, but I'm not bothering to look any further.
>>
>>107651472 (or anyone interested)
I'm actually looking for a perl dev for the site world2ch.net
The textboards and imageboard are both perl scripts, but the imageboard specifically needs some work since it's a messy incomplete fork. There is an IRC channel we could discuss it in, if you end up doing it you'll get full dental benefits.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. If the government stopped functioning and became a corrupt hellscape, it'd only take a few generations before it got as bad as India. It'd basically be mumbai, with the wealthy living lavishly and everyone else living in dilapidated houses.
>>
>>107658908
Actually Indians are the most racist people on the planet. They have their own government supported caste system. Nobody else does that. Then they come to the US and constantly pull the racism card, then they laugh at us amongst each other. We've been cucked for decades, White brothers. Time to put an end to this.

I've been using it for a few months now, I like it more than Bazzite and for everything but a single game (Assetto Corsa) it just works. I like it more than Bazzite because Bazzite heavily discourages standard package manager use, which makes standard Linux use more trouble than it should be.

They compile apps with proper flags and use a custom scheduler for burst workload. Performance wise, it’s probably the best you can have with a Linux distro for videogames.

nobody asked, but thanks for counting

Any version of Windows since 1995 has been more polished, production-ready and user-friendly than any Linux distro ever made. That's obvious to anybody who has installed both of them on the same machine.

Are Linux users just lying about their distros being a better experience than a Windows installation?

I am more willing to solve whatever issue Linux throws at me and find a solution to integrate whichever application is not directly compatible with it than to upgrade to Win11. I got it at work, it's awful bloat, the Office and Adobe suites are the ones doing the heavy lifting for the OS. If there were native versions of Excel and Photoshop for Linux I can assure many more would switch to a user friendly distro like Mint

Stripe does fix it but Samsung doesn't use it only LG does. Most of Samsung's next year line up is IPS too they seem to be focusing on high PPI/refresh rate over QD-OLED, only one model is qd-oled. Maybe the subsidies ran out or maybe they can't pimp more results out of qd-oled.

My problem with linux is that many programs that I want to use are simply not there. Some of them might work under Wine, but I really don't want to just, count on Linux that they maybe, possibly work, you know. For my use case (being mentally ill) , I also need to be able to re-create my entire setup locally and offline, which, from what I know, is not easily doable on linux. While I despise Microsoft and other evil corporations, I think that linux community hates people like me with entirely different kind of passion, as if I was their mortal enemy, instead of corporations who, well, just disliking me for not being obedient customer. Modern Windows is not a great choice either, I can imagine myself updooting to 7, but I kinda feel that by doing so I would lose part of my fight against my enemies. I guess I should just pick a pencil and start drawing on a paper then.

Would have to straight up go on a closed network and transfer updates to the system from another system or local server, the security risks are too great.
>Install windows
>Dual-boot Linux
>Disable networking on windows
>Download updates on Linux for windows
>Transfer files from linux to windows partition
>Maybe install an anti-virus OS on a third partition to scan the windows partitions periodically
Basically just need a lightweight DE, and login with x11 - Debian-based is easier to manage imo, but fedora gives you newer software without having to use flatpak, snapd, or backports

What's your long term strategy when nobody but a few boomer schizos are using 10? I don't think deciding to become a die-hard loyalist to one particular Windows release is worth it in the long term compared to just biting the bullet and migrating somewhere else. People say "forced" because obviously you have to make a decision eventually you're just postponing it while there's still a grace period. Given this board's demographics you're probably not that old and you're choosing a very difficult and inconvenient future on computers and for what? I'll see you and the 7 tards in 2050 when we're all wrinkly and I'll be laughing as you post copes about how you don't need to do anything on your computer but use a fork of Notepad++ maintained by 2 Kazakhs who are only on the OS you have volunteered to be on because it's what happened to be on some old office computer they found in an abandoned building.

What actually useful things do you use LLMs for
For me it's dumb scripts - autohotkey scripts, browser userscripts, random python things
The models just one-shot most of these types of things now and it makes doing one-off things so trivial that I'll do a few of these on average every week now that never get used again

It's great for one off scripts. I also like to mock out classes for my code and make function stubs and have LLMs fill them out. I am able to accelerate projects quickly that way. That level of constraint also stops the LLMs for making up retarded architectural decisions too.

Been trying Claude for larger codebases and once you give it too much flexibility it starts becoming retarded.
