I've noticed this weird modern trend with games but especially with programs, where if it stops receiving updates then people abandon it.
What causes this weird mindset of needing constant updates?

You may have noticed it with 1 or 2 flavor of the month online O N I O N S games or something, but there is no such "trend" in games in general.
>>
>>106869937
>No, you haven't. People will keep playing good games if they are completed.
>i really want to play this game but is there a fan update patch that brings it up to modern tastes?
You really haven't seen people post the above about old games and then refuse to play it if there's no patch?
>>
>>106869971
Honestly, not really. Not saying it never happens, but the biggest hurdle normalfags face is getting the game to run. If they can run the game, they're usually ok with it.
>old game available for free, playable with an emulator
:(
>same game but packaged with an emulator and sold as a subscription service by Nintendo
:O
>>
>>106869100
still updating = beta
I'll wait for the final version to drop. What, you won't be selling it by then? Then piracy it is.
>>
>>106869100
>this weird mindset of needing constant updates
thats funny because i get annoyed by constant updates so i will skip and disable reminders

>For how long did you use it?
That specific config, 6 months. Hyperbola was way too much even for me so I used Trisquel for about a year after.
>and how was your general experience?
I would go back if I could. It's totally possible to live like that and it feels good to uphold your ideals and whatnot, but unfortunately you will inevitably be held back by certain things.
I can give more specific details if you want.

I installed Linux Mint earlier and I am amazed at how good chatgpt is at helping me out as I don't know how to use terminals or code. It even wrote a script for me that disables my internal laptop keyboard with one single line in the terminal. It's made things a lot easier.

i tried torrenting something on a new computer and accidentally closed the firewall permission thingy so now all qbittorent private connections were blocked and i couldnt be bothered to dick with it since i had a femboy over who really wanted to watch it so i just remote desktoped to my NAS and torrented from it instead (without VPN)

well, devs threw a fit and quit leaving everyone else the mess they made. the new leader(s) are focused on just trying to get their mess of patches upstreamed. no clue when or if you'll ever get things like DP alt mode and thunderbolt. if you just want a linux env you can run UTM.

never happens on xfs, tested my drives and absolutely zero problems with them, btrfs and ext4 are just dogshit filesystems that aren't reliable for powercuts at all

XFS IO patterns coincidentally jive with your defective hardware for the moment. Billions of people are running ext4 and they aren't experiencing device brickage on power cuts.

My head is enormous (e.g. vast majority of hats aren't sold in a large enough size to fit on my head, baseball caps opened to widest hole sit on top of my scalp like a yarmulke) and mine have been working well for 15 years, just have to buy a replacement cable once every two years or so.

Has anyone tried asking ChatGPT for girl advice and then doing what it says? I've underestimated ChatGPT in many areas and been pleasantly surprised by how useful its info is, but for some reason I can't bring myself to ask for help here
>>
>>106870294
You do know everything it says is a synthesis of info from the internet right? It's not like it's going to be more true than any other info elsewhere
>>
>>106870356
Not exactly true, because it is also trained to discriminate high quality data from low quality. Besides lots of guys attest they learned how to get girls from the internet, that was why PUA was so popular.

We need to pop this LLM bubble as soon as possible.
First of all, we have to start referring to what these idiots call “AI” for what it really is: decoder only large language generative models.
Second, we need to start spreading the fact that MCP and function calling are useless for 95% of use cases cases where you don’t even need language in the first place. Proof of that is that not even Amazon has jumped into that shitty paradigm. Who the hell wants to talk to a chatbot to order a pizza? Imagine having to type everything and turn a simple “tap and pay” mechanism into a fucking chat session, arguing with a bot about why you don’t want onions milk in your order.
All the dinosaur investors behind this LLM nonsense want to drag us back to the caveman era, where computing power was centralized and we had dumb terminals.
Imagine needing megawatts of power and terabytes of RAM for a simple REST request just because some wannabe Steve Jobs thinks that hooking his website to ChatGPT makes it an AI app.
