I like using Office 2019 instead of the current 365slop.
But when I installed it on my new computer, I learned that the ability to adjust a picture's transparency was taken away from all older Office products and is now only available in Office 365 (as an incentive to make you upgrade or something).
Even if I download and roll back to a build from before this was changed and picture transparency was taken away, the feature still won't show up in the picture format options.

I'm on Windows 10, with a computer that's just a few months old. I have updates turned off.

My old laptop that I stopped updating in 2020 still has the picture transparency option in Office 2019.
My mom's new computer on Windows 11, which gets constant updates, apparently still has the picture transparency option in Office 2024.
But I somehow can't get it to work on my new computer no matter how many different builds I try.

Please god someone help me get picture transparency back.
It can even be in a different version of Office, I don't care, just as long as it's not the current "product as a service" one.

I am jealous. I don't know what I would use one for as the only BBS I connect to is over SSH/telnet but having copper to the phone company is awesome.

You should set up a BBS anon. I know dialup over VoIP is spotty but it can be done and I would love the chance to connect to your setup over a telephone line.

Kino choice on NetBSD as well. I have a Power PC Mac Mini with NetBSD that is my Gopher server and I have found it to be a wonderful OS. It is a bit stuck in time but in a good way. It feels like how a *nix machine should feel.

USB devices need USB drivers which bloats the OS, my new Gaming laptop AsusVivo book with N6000 level CPU with next gen intel gfx really sucks and trying to debloat it so games run properly.
>>
>>107852353
Last year I popped my motherboard or some shit with a powered USB hub. I connected one hub to another for a simracing setup. All of the USB ports got disabled and the only way I was able to get into my PC was with a PS/2 mouse.
>>
>>107856818
It's not so much about bloat. Any USB mouse or keyboard can work with the generic USB mouse and keyboard drivers that comes with the OS, but may need some additional driver and programs to use some features like key macros, on the fly DPI changing, or RGB lights. The same applies to PS/2 as well, though "enhanced" PS/2 devices aren't so common today.

The driver that PS/2 works around is the USB controller driver. USB has had several revisions and lots of different brand controllers that all need their own drivers, but every PS/2 port since the early 90s has interfaced with the CPU exactly the same way and works with the same driver that every OS already has built in.

The real use of this is if you're trying to install an OS, and the installer doesn't have a driver that can make your USB controller work. You have the driver ready, but without working input devices, you can't install the OS and then the driver. Add a PS/2 keyboard or mouse and you can, and then presumably switch over to your USB ones once they're working. That's why so many motherboards have a single PS/2 port that accepts either, and not 2 ports, and why so many people buy shitty cheapo PS/2 peripherals.

>What is the best way to learn Python
>>
>>107857235
I'm currently doing a course on freecodecamp I've learnt bits and pieces from languages over the years but I would never call my self a programmer. They have a python certification course it's pretty good can be a bit annoying because you have to write the code to get the lab to pass so it has to be written the way they want it regardless of functionality so you spend a lot of time formatting.

So far I enjoy it but I do get annoyed at myself for not understanding and for forgetting syntax but I need to work on that just gotta stick with it. It is good to learn or relearn fundamentals as they can be used with any language not just python.

You should give it a whirl.
