I was wondering can you dual boot 2 windows verisons
>>107889590Yes, but you have to remove the boot flag on your windows boot partition first, otherwise the next windows you will install, will overwrite you existing bootloader. You can do that with Gparted, it's literally a checkbox that says bootable or efi. After you installed your 2nd windows, you can set the efi / boot checkbox again.>retard proof methodGet a 2nd drive, unplug your first drive with windows on it, plug in your 2nd drive, install windows. Done. Now plug both of the drives and you can change the boot order in bios, or depending on your mobo, you can open the boot manager menu with a keyboard shortcut, while booting.
>>107891937Pretty sure that's not needed with EFI anymore.
It was useful in transition eras where the driver subsystem was completely changed and a lot of old hardware didn't work, like dual booting 9x/XP or XP/7 but there is no such use case now>>107891947>EFIYikes
I have a Thinkpad T42 on which I dual boot windows 95 and XP. If dual booting Windows 98 with newer versions, make sure 98 is installed first.
W7 and BIOS era days yes, it was relatively trivial to do this. No idea how it works with UEFI and the jeet/AI clusterfuck that is 11

A site where jannies are legitimately just focused on keeping the site usable and not policing conversation would be amazing.

Is there a core reason why nobody seems to even care about non Nvidia GPUs?Should I buy an AMD PC in 2026?I think an 5700xt is like 200 usd.
>>1078911135700xt has a flawed gpu, rdna 1 has numerous hardware bugs and is sensitive to low quality power supplies, thats the reason they are cheap. i would avoid it if you can, if you dont have any choice hope you get a good one.

>>107892967Absolutely.
I was under constant SYN floods and volumetric UDP flood attacks that were so large that even when all the source IPs got collected into a large iplist and blocked by iptables, it would still shut me down, because it was simply sending more than my NIC could handle. Sometimes the ISP would blackhole my IP during that happening, to protect his own infrastructure.I wrote a BPF XDP filter that rate limits packets in an efficient way, so they get dropped before they even enter the ring buffer and contributing IPs temporary blocked for an hour.I already experienced multiple DDoS attacks since deploying it and i wouldn't even have noticed them, if i wouldn't have checked with bpftool if something got blocked. They go into nowhere.
>>107892061A SYN flood fills up the nf_conntrack table and once it is full, starts dropping packets. And they stay in the table until they timeout. If nftables / iptables ratelimits, they still made it into nf_conntrack in the first place. Meanwhile a XDP BPF program executes before conntrack. It can prevent it from getting there.Meanwhile a UDP flood fills up the RX ring buffer. And once the ring buffer is full, we get packet drops. You can't stop the packet from getting into the memory in the first place, but BPF will be 10 to 100 times faster to kick it out again (while also avoiding conntrack, which is a thing for UDP as well). If it is above your hardware capabilities, you can't be saved. But the first bottleneck is on the software. With BPF the conntrack bottleneck is removed and the ring buffer bottleneck is up to 100 times better.

This is literally what Micheal Burry was trying to point out last year. But he failed because 1) this kind of stuff flies over most people’s heads. 2) Burry didn’t account for the fact that Nvidia and Microsoft have a lot of buttons they can press to FORCE GPUs to not depreciate. Even though it’s anti-progress and against most people’s intuition, they can do it, and it makes them far more money than not doing it.And judging by wall street’s reaction to Burry, I think most institutions know the fix is in and GPUs won’t be (meaningfully) advancing in the next six years.

How the fuck is a 1998 game capable of generating collisions for any terrain and it just works on super old hardware?Meanwhile Godot's trimesh is so slow it cannot even run smoothly on modern hardware (and also broken since version 4), while anything other than trimesh will cause the player to literally fall through the stage? Can someone explain this?

It's pretty easy with such very low poly meshes. The collision mesh can be the same as the geometry mesh. And you only start checking for collision with triangles that you are close to. Very basic stuff.
>>107892147I completed the game twice, never had an issue outside of tiktok clock and even then it is because of invisible walls which are purely due to memory constraints and hardware limitation
Any Vegas users able to help me out? I'm in the middle of a project and all of a sudden am not able to drag entire media files from the tray to the timeline. I can only take a screenshot from a specific time in the media (the thumbnail acting as its own timeline for the media itself), and drag it to the timeline.
