NAS Case Guide. Feel free to add to it:
https://igwiki.lyci.de/wiki/Home_server/Case_guide

/hsg/ is about learning and expanding your horizons. Know all about NAS? Learn virtualisation. Spun up some VMs? Learn about networking by standing up a OPNsense box and configuring some VLANs. There's always more to learn and chances to grow. Think you’re god-tier already? Setup OpenStack and report back.

>What software should I run?
Install Guix. Or whatever flavour of *nix is best for the job or most comfy for you. Jellyfin/Emby to replace Netflix, Nextcloud to replace Googlel, Ampache/Navidrome to replace Spotify, the list goes on. Look at the awesome self-hosted list and ask.

Not directly. If you're doing vlans make sure the switches support that.

You can get all in one switches that have 4 SFP+ ports and 8-24 1Gb or 2.5Gb RJ45, which might simplify things a bit. If you already have the switches and they'll do what you want it's probably not worth upgrading, but it's a thought to consider.
>>
>>107122404
You can host multiple sites on a single IP and port. Browsers send the domain to the website, and internally apache and nginx have vhosts. You can bind specific domain(s) to a given site this way.
>>
>>107122639
That sounds good, thanks. Httpd's conf example has
 server "www.example.com" { (ports and dirs go in here) }
which might be a similar story to vhosts (I'll eventually move onto nginx).
The problem now is my router settings has only one DDNS update URL field, and each domain has its own update URL. So it looks like I can't have both update.

I've used the regular edition my entire life, but the Enhancer for YouTube situation got me thinking that maybe I should switch to the Developer Edition so that I could install extensions not validated by Mozilla, should I ever need to.

For anyone who doesn't know, the Enhancer for YouTube dev took it off the Firefox Add-on store after getting fed up with Mozilla's verification/validation policies or whatever they're called. It can still be installed, it's just not getting updates.

Matsuura Kanan from LLS

Who are these people that are worth $100 million salaries? Are they Einstein level geniuses? Even the smartest scientists in the world were only paid $10,000 salaries to work on the Manhattan Project in the 1940s, which is about $200k in today's dollars. How could any single person possibly be worth $100 million?

I don't understand the time spent on wondering whether other people are computing "correctly", trying to encourage "correct" computing.
I will compute the way I want to, which is by setting up an FTP server. I don't care in the slightest if the next person along is too retarded to do that, doesn't have the time to do that, doesn't know that that's an option. They can pay for Dropbox. Why should I or anyone else be the one who is supposed to dissuade them of that?
>>
>>107120140
No judgement because it happens to all of us, but you're replying to a sharty bot. The unnecessarily combative tone gives them away sometimes. They're designed to waste user time and make the site worse overall, as a joke.
>>
The last time i saw someone use Dropbox was over ten years ago, LOL
>>
>>107122332
Because eventually those people form a majority of users and start influencing and affecting us. And for what? They don't want to use computers, you realize that right? But they're foisted on them regardless and everybody suffers.
>>
>>107118904
FTP is a way to give other people root access to your filesystem through an unencrypted protocol. For some reason, enough people think it's awesome for Wordpress to make it its default method of installing plugins. Dumbasses.

Windows 7 is very secure and you cannot get hacked easily
Many viruses designed for Windows 10 and Windows 11 cannot run on Windows 7

How to secure a Windows 7 machine:
>Install pre-updated Windows 7 iso
>Install remaining security updates with UpdatePack7R2
>Disable SMBv1 and SMBv2
>Turn off vulnerable services
>Use MSE
>Use Simplewall
>Close vulnerable ports
>Use OSArmor
>Use Sandboxie
>Pay for the 0patch
>Install custom hosts file that blocks adware and malware

How is the information useful? Are you one of those no-coders?
The information is useful because you generally (read: almost always) want to keep your memory compact especially in data structs. Therefore you (almost always) want as few bits as possible without risking overflow. If you instead go for the largest type all the time you’ll waste tons of space for no reason at all (I hope to god that you atleast know what padding is).

You mean bitset, not fucking bit vector.

What browser extensions do you lads use?
Tried PrivacyBadger but seems worthless/conflicting with uBO, same with ClearURL/Decentraleyes.
Tried DarkReader but it's inconsistent and requires constant filtering when it applies to the wrong thing.

I mean if the sprite is already rendered on the target, how will you separate sprite from the background when you fill a box? You need something to mask the box, that is why I said a new render texture with alpha 0, so that the alpha is used as a mask and then I can just SDL_RenderCopy with the default blend mode.
This is what I had in mind. What was your idea?
>>
>>107122389
1) Draw mario sprite on the screen with the blending I mentioned last time, this creates a zero alpha hole in the screen
2) Draw a quad with solid red color (or some texture if you want) on the screen to cover the hole with something like OneMinusDstAlpha factors for source and One factors for destination (might need adjustments if partial opacities get darkened or brightned)
3 optional) Draw mario sprite normally with chosen transparency to mix between textured and flashing color
>>
>>107122434
Sadly, it seems like using SDL_BLENDOPERATION_REV_SUBTRACT in my blend mode results in an error "that operation is not supported"
So it won't work on all backends it seems
