No one cares? For decades this smooth presentation was the standard for live and taped television.
>>
And remember this is FIELDS per second we're talking about here. Not frames. And no, two fields do not make a frame. That is s destructive process. Interlaced video is just different. Each field represents a unique moment in time, and when played back via interlaced video creates a smoother look than 30 frames per second video.
>>
>>107743561
i don't really get your point, most interlaced video is deinterlaced to 60fps not 30fps. It's a lot easier to just bilinearly interpolate between the fields to make a complete frame than to interleave the fields and then have to decimate the combing.
>>
>>107743592
>most interlaced video is deinterlaced to 60fps
That is not true at all. The vast majority of OTA broadcasts are only available in 30 frames per second when they are released to streaming platforms.

I mentioned on a /pol/ thread about SSD prices that I had a Samsung 840 pro SSD that had basically been on 24/7 since I bought it 14 years ago. An anon in that thread wanted crystaldiskinfo but I was too lazy to reinstall windows on it. Then a Russian anon told me about smartmontools. Hopefully both of them will find this thread since that one is now archived.
Now, to the main two points of this thread.
-Can anyone beat my high score?
-How long do you think this MLC SSD can last? Because I'm going to run it until failure.
>>
>>>/pol/
>>
>How long do you think this MLC SSD can last?
As long as you want, it depends on how much you write on it. I think it could last longer if you don't write that much to it and treat it read-only unless you have to really change things.

Xinuos (deadname SCO) has two Unixes they stlll sell, Unixware and OpenServer. They apparently have the same kernel but different syscalls implemented via different personalities, the former apparently more SVR3 and the latter more SVR4 flavored (technically they branded it as SVR5 but it's the only fruit from that tree so not a very useful descriptor). Also some different administrative tools apparently.
>>
>>107743508
sorry mixed those up, Unixware is SVR4 and OpenServer is SVR3.

dang is right. people like this guy end up killing internet communities because they create nothing and share nothing but snark for those who are actually doing things. if you have too many of them you end up with twitter where everyone is dunking on everyone and nobody's doing any real work out of fear of getting dunked on. perfect environment for poseurs.
>>
>>107738986
There’s a balance.
Obviously you don’t want dunk addicts going hog wild shitting up the public square.
But you also need critique, most people won’t notice their fly is down unless someone else tells them.

I don't use generic chatbot AI much, but a family member does, so I set up an openwebui instance for them. It uses openai just because it was the easiest to set up an API key with.
I also have a year trial of perplexity pro. I like its aggressive use of reference material because in my experience grounding with tools/RAG is the only way you can hope to get accurate answers from LLMs. I don't use it much so I'm not sure yet whether I'll pay for it.
Most of my LLM use is Opus 4.5 via Cursor which work pays for.

It's still GPT as an all-rounder for coding, media creation, and research/questions (which are my primary AI uses). Other agents are better in some ways or others, like Grok when I need an image with titties in it.

Yeah, chatgpt recently fluffed me up with an end-of year summary. Felt really good.

This thread is dedicated to KurobaEX-dev, which operates as a deliberately specialized digital interface, architected to facilitate the structured navigation, interactive engagement, and cognitive consumption of web-hosted content originating from the online platform formally designated as 4chan on a multifunctional, sensor-equipped, cellular-connected handheld computing device. OK?

Use this thread to:
1. TEST
2. Tell K1 to bring back the bottom menu/tool bar
3. Troubleshoot

Pick one. You cannot blend those two concept together.
If your wAIfu is not 90% DIY, you are doing it wrong.
To pick a robot on the shelf is to buy a slave.

Unless you do lossless encoding (Which no one does, specially YT), uploading at 60 FPS doesn't double your filesize, and if it's just a slideshow, it should be pretty close since you're gonna re-use pretty much the same macroblocks.
What surprises me is that 4K isn't a premium feature, I feel that YT could save a lot of money if they only allowed monetized channels to upload 4K, and only YT premium subs to watch it. Realistically speaking, given that most people watch on mobile, you wouldn't really have that much backlash

> Compositing is only an issue if you can't disable it
Once compositing becomes the norm, it changes how software is written, thus even if you can disable it, you can't really. Before compositing was a thing, software drew directly to the front buffer with accelerated drawing apis. This allowed for an unrivaled responsiveness. But now all software draws to offscreen buffers.

I don't know, there is more to that.
For example Xfce4 feels sluggish compared to Windows.
Only after I changed to plain window manager and I'm still using Picom in-between the certain heaviness has gone away.
I think gtk and some other stuff is just way too heavy for what they are suposed to be.

Artificial leather disintegrates after some time. Sometimes it lasts less than a year, sometimes 5+, depends on quality. If you want maximum longevity, you're better off going for velour, gel + fabric, or real leather.

A game engine, reduced to the most fundamentals, is
>input processing code
>graphics rendering code
>an update loop that takes user input, runs pluggable game logic, and renders the graphics
Start with this and then you can add features.
Many simpler game engines focus a specific type or subset of game and provide a lot of utilities for making things easier. E.g. RPG Maker only allows you to make 2D sprite-based RPGs, but provide a very featureful framework for making your RPG work, with built-in logic for typical RPG UIs, battles, dialogue, NPCs and 2D world movement, etc. etc. Factorio is arguably a game engine where you can define a very specific type of factory game (the official Factorio game is internally basically a set of data files for the engine in exactly the same format as you'd write for a mod, it's even called "Base mod" internally).
That doesn't mean you have to make a purpose-built or 2D-only game engine, but if you can provide special logic to make a specific type of game easier to build, it'll be a differentiating factor. Plus if you want to make your own game, it only makes sense to tailor your engine to make your own job easier.
If you're trying to make a very generic engine you're basically competing with Unity or Unreal and the like.
