>Cinnamon is the premier Desktop Environment for linux
KDE Plasma*
Maybe when Cinnamon has a more mature Wayland implementation and Wayland is used out of the box like on Debian Stable, it will be the platonic ideal of the Linux Desktop, but right now it's Plasma 6 on Debian

actually, it rules. most of the crashes are from upstream library issues caused by one particular distro. if you run plasma on gentoo, for example, it's rock solid

>when can has better
within 4 years. No one appreciates the dead internet, AI makes a good gimmick but after awhile its robotic nature is exposed and it feels vapid and empty. Lots of inertia has been generated from network effects, psychological tricks and apathy. The Pyrrhic victory is that big tech only intends to further enshittify, jack up their monopoly rates and find new ways of hijacking the amgdala to imbibe you with their cultural norms and export empire.

fortunately projects like hashchan provide choose your own jannies and sidesteps the need for cloudflare+captchas entirely. there is no company, no platform, no profit motive. Just the understanding that critical mass moloch traps the botswarms into supporting the tools of digital liberation

ah forgot to mention, also its portable identity (if any) you can choose how much you want to reveal. if you want to tripfag with an iris scan, go for it. if not fund a fresh address through a chip mixer

Happy new year, fags! May the new year bring you lots of bans and the wrath of the cabal.

How can you realistically get hacked from using an outdated OS if you're behind a firewall? All those meme vids of "computer hacked after 10 seconds of connecting XP to the internet" involve turning off he firewall, from what I heard. If the firewall is on what is the realistic attack vector where you get hacked because of an unpatched weakness in the OS? Outdated browser maybe, but that goes for any OS. Is browser security worse on an outdated OS?

>The development comes a little over a year after the tech giant [Google] disclosed that its transition to Rust led to a decline in memory safety vulnerabilities from 223 in 2019 to less than 50 in 2024.

>The company pointed out that Rust code requires fewer revisions, necessitating about 20% fewer revisions than their C++ counterparts, and has contributed to a decreased rollback rate, thereby improving overall development throughput.

>We adopted Rust for its security and are seeing a 1000x reduction in memory safety vulnerability density compared to Android's C and C++ code. But the biggest surprise was Rust's impact on software delivery," Google's Jeff Vander Stoep said. "With Rust changes having a 4x lower rollback rate and spending 25% less time in code review, the safer path is now also the faster one

>With roughly 5 million lines of Rust in the Android platform and one potential memory safety vulnerability found (and fixed pre-release), our estimated vulnerability density for Rust is 0.2 vuln per 1 million lines (MLOC).

>Our historical data for C and C++ shows a density of closer to 1,000 memory safety vulnerabilities per MLOC. Our Rust code is currently tracking at a density orders of magnitude lower: a more than 1000x reduction.

A lot of indexing is provably safe though, so a blanket ban on direct indexing means a lot of unnecessary noise
The fact that people come up with hacks like https://docs.rs/no-panic/latest/no_panic/ shows that there's a problem

You are actually both wrong. There was a small remnant of Americans who were actually capable and intelligent. That small remnant got laid off over the last 20 years and replaced by foreigners and retards that can't accomplish or build shit. Then China hacked and stole the designs of all the shit that was invented before the millenium. Elon hired the even smaller remnant of Americans that still feel like working a real job.
