why is brave so popular among normies?
literally every irl normalfag i know has this shit installed and they always say the exact same lines like "this browser is better because it bocks ads by default" or "this browser is more secure and private" or "brave is better because it doesn't eat your ram and is faster"
where did they learn this nonsense? they all look like brainwashed ignorants

that's why i feel gross defending it, it's an awful company even if you can wrangle the browser into being the least shit option
>>
I've used it for years only recently swapped to librewolf on pc and ironfox on mobile. It just works and I'll be honest I'm such a poor fag I enable the ads so I can get my 10p a month in BAT. But I got rid of it since on phone it moved the URL bar to the bottom and you have to select edit URL instead of just clicking it and I heard the company is gonna charge for a browser and I'd prefer to use a full foss browser. Some of the out of the box settings for librewolf and ironfox are a little OTT for the average user but after some tweaks they are fine. Most normies just use chrome or even the Google app on their phone they don't even know what a browser is I told my mate to use another browser to stop ads and have more privacy and he said he just likes Google so he thinks a browser is a search engine.
>>
>>107849597
Just be glad normies are kinda healing. Before id watch normies i know use google chrome and see 75% of every website filled with ads. Such an eyesore even if its not my machine im looking at. Now that theyre using brave thats not the case, just a clean webpage with only the contents loaded and no ads bloating up the screen. Im happy for them

Setup OpenStack and report back.

Install Gentoo. Or whatever flavor of *nix is best for the job or most comfy for you. Jellyfin/Emby/Plex to replace Netflix, Nextcloud to replace Googlel, Ampache/Navidrome to replace Spotify, the list goes on. Look at the awesome self-hosted list and ask.

De-botnet your life. Learn something new. Serving applications to yourself, your family, and your frens feels good. Put your tech skills to good use for yourself and those close to you. Consider the possibility that every programming question that someone else could reasonably have an answer for has already been asked. I mean that's over 50 million questions there. You don't need to ask a new question when it's already the top google result.

Have a question, trying to decide if I should go with a schiit Mangi+mesh dac or a JDS Labs Atom stack.
The main thing holding me back from just going with the stack is that I don't sit at my desk. I have a little table next to me in a chair about 4 feet away the desk where my computer is. I put all my computer stuff like my keyboard/mouse/headphones on that table. I would also place my amp/dac there in one of the corners.
It has a little rise at the edge so it's sort of protected from light bumps but I'm worried the stack might be too risky. How steady is it? Do they have anything like sticky feet so they don't easily slide apart? Would it be safe to wrap some duct tape around them so they can't come apart?
Also would it be safe to plug both into the same power strip my computer is already plugged into? I don't have a wall outlet close enough.
The schiit is one unit and much smaller so it would probably be easier to use in that space but I really like JDS as a company so much more. Any opinion on what you think my best choice would be?

Forgot the pic, I found this on ebay. It seems to be a 3d printed thing that helps hold it together. Do you think something like this would work better than tape? Do I even need anything at all?
>>
>>107852748
As long as you have the amp on top using little sticky feet should be fine to keep the stack in place. Can easily replace the bottoms with something else you prefer, you see it on Schiit stacks all the time (even Schiit do it at headphone shows). It'll work on the Atom too.
>I have a little table next to me in a chair about 4 feet away the desk where my computer is
As long as you aren't using more than a 2m usb to connect it to your PC you should be gucci, past 2m you'll prolly run into ground loop issues and other bullshit.
Plugging them into the same strip should be fine, just make sure all that shit's surge protected.
>>
>>107852762
If it's cheap I don't see why not, as long as it doesn't melt from the amp running hot. Idea seems fine though, but a diy solution would work well too.

Theme: [Accepting suggestions]

>Song submission rules/guidelines
Upload the file somewhere, preferably in a lossless format, and post the link here. If you want to update your track, make a new post.
Include the song title in the post, and make it clear that your song is a submission for the album.
Optionally you may include cover art for your track, but please confirm that the image in your post is the cover art or it won't be included. You may not use your real artist name.
Songs that contain anything against YouTube's policies won't be uploaded on YT, but will still be added to the album.
By default, tracks will be normalised to -14 LUFS (integrated loudness) in the release. You may specify a lower loudness for your track.
Use of AI is banned. This includes AI generated stems, samples, and effects. "AI" includes all neural network-based models and not hard-coded automation/procedural generation. You are allowed to ask an LLM about music-related questions, but asking it to give you musical ideas (eg. generating a chord progression) is already a no-no.

If you want a tablet and also want to draw, should you get an iPad or a Samsung tablet?

Oh yeah for sure, I'm aware of what apps I'd need. Just unsure of what kind of tablet I should buy. I'm considering either getting a Samsung or a Xiaomi in the ~300€ price range. Xiaomi seems great for "bang for your buck" hardware but I've made somewhat terrible experiences with their bloatware. Meanwhile buying a samsung feels like paying 100€ in ransom money just to have the same hardware with none of the shitty bloat. That's my experience with phones at least, I don't know how applicable it is to their tablets.
>>
>>107852385
Xiaomi build quality is absolute shit, I had two phones from them and in both cases the battery expanded the back panel glue didn't hold it for shit

got an s25 and never buying chinkshit again
>>
>>107852423
Guess the "bloatware" was literal there hohoho

Seems like Xiaomi was basically "passable" around the time I had one and has only gotten worse since.
My mom still has sa Xiaomi phone and they put a fucking shop into the UI, I think she also had some indian app that auto-installed itself and sent her notifications.
My phone was draining battery like crazy until I noticed that the Xiaomi gallery app was draining 50% of it just by endlessly running in the background, apparently when it was a bug that would make it get stuck in a loop when trying to read a corrupted file.

Now that I think about it I'm probably best off never buying Xiaomi again

install fault on HP 15-fd0083wm

I downloaded and created my USB installer drive directly from the Elementary OS website. it works in live mode. when I try to "erase disk and install" it instantly faults and cannot install. id does this even after a clean format. after some searching I tried "custom install" option after using Gparted to format the drive and create partitions (512MB for FAT32 boot) and then the rest as ext4. then when I return to the installer and select "custom install" and select my partitions, the windows overlap in such a way I cannot see, select or confirm anything on the partitions. resizing the primary installer window does nothing. additionally, I only seem able to select the 512MB FAT32 partition, and have been unable to select the larger partition.

apparently there is/are known issues with the installer on some computers. my craptop has an UFS SSD which is also probably an issue. something about recognition? I've read so much shit it's all starting to run together in my brain.

I got Mint XFCE installed and running on it last night. that also took some finesse, again, I believe, because of the UFS. after several terminal entries in Live, i was able to get it running normally. despite that, I would prefer to run Elementary if at all possible. I have tried forums, GIThub threads and Grok to assess, diagnose and mitigate. still no joy. This is my second Linux install ever and I am not a "computer guy" by any stretch.

this computer has a nearly identical origin story to the last one I posted aboot here. it was left behind when a tenant moved out of an apartment presumably because of a bad battery. I got a free battery from Amazon Vine, and was able to get it to boot. being that it is 8 years newer than my Stream 11-Y010, faster and more storage, in dont *need* to run the bare bones Mint XFCE. I would like something a bit more modern and stylish, ie: Elementary 8.1

What say you Anon?
