Reminder of the following:

1. Google will merge ChromeOS and Android to form a FOSS Linux-based desktop OS that will be 100% free to download and use.

https://www.androidauthority.com/aluminium-os-android-for-pcs-3619092/

2. Windows will be severely affected by this new, totally free competitor and will bleed marketshare.

3. All existing Linux desktop environments will be totally outclassed by Google's top secret desktop UI and underlying OS. Even Linux users will give up on shit like Mint and just use Google's desktop for their daily driver OS.

2026 will finally be the year of the Linux desktop, and it will be because Google will do to desktops what they did to phones.

You know it's coming. Don't act like this was a surprise.

But even on that point I can't agree with you, MacOS sure, even Gnome (and Pantheon the elementary DE) is arguably better, but not Windows.
Consider that KDE's budget is something like 500 000 EUR, it's impressive what they can do considering that.

Who is this dogshit piece of shit for? Who asked for it? Why would I want to install it? Even worse, why would I not want to uninstall it on preinstalled computer?
Are people at Microsoft even aware that they just killed themselves with one simple move where people actively downgrade or switch to other OS just to NOT be at Win11? They think they hold monopoly or what?

Gaymers and Boomers. Normies and creative people are already on macs. privacy people, programmers and gaymers that don't rely on kernel malware already switched to linux. It's time for valve to liberate the remaining gaymers.

Yes, because they pushed aside all the useful things and made the Start Menu worse so they could shill their own shitty programs. And even once users put their own things there it was still a poor use of prime screen real estate.

SP1 made XP usable, SP2 killed raw sockets and enshittified half open connections (which can be fixed with 3rd party patches but still). SP3 didn't feel like much of a change at all even though the changelog was massive.

It took a few years for 2000 to actually get proper 3d hardware acceleration support, which back then was about the only reason for XP's existence as far as I'm concerned.

Over time, though, 2000 support diminished and XP became the absolute minimal requirement.

Today I daily drive POSReady 2009 and I've never been happier.

Yes, because I have good taste

Any version of Windows since 1995 has been more polished, production-ready and user-friendly than any Linux distro ever made. That's obvious to anybody who has installed both of them on the same machine.

Are Linux users just lying about their distros being a better experience than a Windows installation?

linux is a better experience than windows if you don't triple a game, need microsoft office, or need media editing software like the adobe suite of tools or DAWs or other things like that
if you don't require that stuff linux is better, it just comes with a bit of a learning curve which is why its uptake is slower

How do people become seriously good with tech? Did they get exposure from a young age? Mentorship from someone who actually wanted to teach them?
Like the people that figure out how to decompile games or repack old games for new operating systems. People who build software/hardware that can interface with old consoles, shit like that?

I've always loved games and computers but I grew up in a religious, anti science household. I finished community college pre-stem courses and I code in C++, but I can't help feel like a retard compared to real technical knowledge

>The nature vs nurture debate has gone on forever
it's because both play a role. nobody's denying the role of nurture, but nature (in other words, raw IQ, especially PIQ) absolutely plays an important role and it's not even up for debate https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3deCR2iqVsc. some researchers won't say it outright but even the more left-leaning ones will use deflective language like "let's focus on the fact that everyone can improve in math" when the topic comes up.
>So talent is really just odds, or luck.
depends on how you define "luck". technically you don't choose your genetic IQ ceiling since, as you said, you don't chose your parents, so by some definition, sure, you can consider natural talent part of "luck".

again, the question OP asked was how do people become "seriously good" with tech. as vaguely worded as it was, it's clear he wasn't asking how people become "decent" or even "fluent". anyone can become fluent with hard work and the correct learning approach. very few will get to the top echelons. those that do have everything working in their favor, including a high genetic IQ ceiling.
>>
>>107698571
also before anyone says "nurture influences IQ", yes, no shit, lead paint, poor nutrition, etc will fuck your brain up. that's why I'm referring to the genetic component as an "IQ ceiling". your genetics determine your "IQ ceiling", but your environment will determine how close to that ceiling you'll actually hit. if your drunken mom bashes you on the head with a beer bottle every time you cry, no genetics will save you from becoming more of a potato.

i consider myself a political extremist and i had no idea who the fuck charlie kirk was until they killed him. From what I can gather he was the most normie zoomer political pundit with the most weak ass middle of the road common sense talking points, which of course makes him literally hitler to the left. He appears to have been the zoomer's chosen good goy. That is to say, a random guy propped up by the establishment to give young conservatives someone to look up to instead of someone more radical and his job was to deliever the most basic of conservative narratives. The kind of imaginary right winger who is deeply christian and an honest/straight forward hard worker ect ect. The old anglo protestant meme to bring white people back into the voting plantation, but of course young and identifiable so angry white men would think they had a voice. But like most normies he didnt realize just how deep he was in the shit so when he started going off script and criticizing the jews a teansy little bit, they blew his head off.

my favorite part of the video is the last 10 seconds. The presentation ends, and the screen fades to black but the video doesnt stop because the intern didnt know how to cut off the beach sound clip he paired with the video of the sailboat. It's amazing, the video just keeps playing for no reason. This reminds me of my own childhood when I first got video editing software and didn't know you could just snip out extra seconds of audio to finish it all up. I'm glad google is giving kids these kinds of oppertunities, it's hard to get into this industry.
