Are you ready for quantum graphics cards?

Okay, but do you think the de Broglie-Bohm (Pilot Wave) theory is correct? I like it, but it's still non-local. I feel like there's a missing piece.
>>
>>107674155
We will never have a quantum computer. The science behind it is flawed. Unironically.
>>
>>107677489
It's interesting but it's impossible to say if it's correct. Nobody can do serious calculations with it. If you are serious about quantum mechanics interpretations you need to read the literature. For example
>https://arxiv.org/pdf/1111.3328
Read the references, find which papers are interesting, read what papers reference them etc. I assume you have at least basic graduate level knowledge of QM/QFT calculations otherwise there is no point to any of this. Nobody in the field thinks CI or everett is unironically/naively correct for obvious and less obvious reasons.

By that I mean that the different front ends from chatGPT and Claude seem to be the same "person" when you just chat general bullshit with them. What if the whole thing is just running on a central military system and all the different front ends are a scam?

Anybody done a deeper dive on this?

They don't models can be run locally and even on small devices military use them for drones for example and government use them for tracking.

Big models are ran from company's data center it seem same because generally the way of training they use to make this big models and brainwash them is exactly same.
>>
>>107675399
Nah, they're definitely not and you'd know if you actually had extensive experience with both. Show ChatGPT 5.2 some very impressive, 200 IQ code and say you're a genius, it'll try to bring you down and humble you. Do the same with Claude 4.5 and it'll agree that you're quite special at the very least. This is because of the retarded cattle who develop AI psychosis when using LLMs are all using the most easily accessible one, ChatGPT. Only coders are really using Claude so it doesn't have those protections put in place.

Theme: Outer Space Music
Title: [Accepting suggestions]
Deadline: 7th of January

>/g/ makes a 19th album
Theme: [Accepting suggestions]

>Song submission rules/guidelines
Upload the file somewhere, preferably in a lossless format, and post the link here. If you want to update your track, make a new post.
Include the song title in the post, and make it clear that your song is a submission for the album.
Optionally you may include cover art for your track, but please confirm that the image in your post is the cover art or it won't be included. You may not use your real artist name.
Songs that contain anything against YouTube's policies won't be uploaded on YT, but will still be added to the album.
By default, tracks will be normalised to -14 LUFS (integrated loudness) in the release. You may specify a lower loudness for your track.
Use of AI is banned. This includes AI generated stems, samples, and effects. "AI" includes all neural network-based models and not hard-coded automation/procedural generation. You are allowed to ask an LLM about music-related questions, but asking it to give you musical ideas (eg. generating a chord progression) is already a no-no.

It depends on what you do. I am a security consultant. That means I do a little hacking sometimes. Sometimes I audit others' shitty but security critical code. But a lot of my time revolves around sitting in meetings discussing security requirements, secure architecture, compliance adherence, and way of working with people who couldn't care less.
>>
Like all IT jobs, when you start, you'll just eat the shit that nobody else wants to eat. You will mostly be reading about vulnerabilities that have been discovered recently, making sure everyone has updated their laptops, and you might reset the occasional password. Le epic 1337 h4xx0r meme is 20 years old and you're not going to be doing that.
>>
>>107674087

It's a good time to be a security expert when someone has to audit the AI generated code, if you are at least decent, you are likely in the golden age that's about to happen.

But there is a downside, it will eat you up when managers choose to ignore the findings of your work because the AI is too hard to configure to not make those mistakes. You will be ignored and eventually you lose all interest in working in tech. Tech fucking sucks.

I’ve been running Linux Mint for over four years and was happy with it until the recent drama, especially the AI security scan fiasco. It really shook my trust in the maintainers.

I started looking for alternatives, but after testing hundreds of distros, none of them met my expectations for stability and reliability. I began to accept that my system would just break from time to time until I found a thread recommending Windows Seven as a rock-solid alternative.

After researching, it turns out this version is still surprisingly usable. It’s stable, reliable, and with extended updates plus a good firewall, security isn’t a major issue.

Has anyone else tried this? How did it go for you? Personally, I haven’t run into a single problem so far.

That is not even competition, they are so behind. Even if ASML stop researching and making new machines, chinks would be still at least 15 years behind.

Reminder that the world's semiconductor manufacturing relies on the inertia of a handful of companies that have been iterating the process year-after-year and decade-after-decade. Modern manufacturing is extremely sensitive to the slightest changes in variables at the microscopic level. It is almost impossible to match the cutting edge by starting from scratch (this is what China is having trouble with despite throwing massive amounts of talent and capital at the problem.) A devastation in the chain, like an invasion or natural disaster in Taiwan, would set the semiconductor industry back by decades while they re-establish and re-learn the proper techniques and processes.
>>
Why are they spending trillions on ai when we can't even produce more than a few hundred of these machines?
>>
>>107677094
Can't power it. We can't excavate enough coal to power it all, we can't build enough renewables fast enough to power it all, nuclear reactors take over a decade to become active from approval, at this rate they'll finally allow commercial fusion just to power all this shit.
>>
>>107674319

>A devastation in the chain, like an invasion or natural disaster in Taiwan, would set the semiconductor industry back by decades
No it wouldn't lol. TSMC is only used commonly since 2018 and hardware wasnt that bad back then.
Second, the only proprietary thing TSMC has is defect detection, to make it economically viable. Otherwise they purchase the machines from other companies (non Taiwanese).
So we would be fine. We would still have pre 7nm hardware which is okay for 98% of people and the remaining 2% could still have their EUV hardware, it would just cost more

Are these things even worth it anymore? I have the original 8GB pic related. Now the 16GB is almost $170 and the HAT is pretty useless though its done a 2x street price since launch. I could get a lattepanda or something. I like the idea of a Pi5 16GB: enough memory and processor to run better/larger LLMs off 2.5W at ~1 token/sec. Even a solar battery. It's cool to have a philosopher in a box like that. The tinker side GPIO and stuff doesn't interest me for personal projects. Anyway should I just get a Jetson Nano or N150 or something.
