This is probably a stupid question but how do I make the top navigation bar or whatever it was called remain a permanent fixture like it used to be on 4chanXT? I don't know since when but I have to hover my mouse around the area at the top of the window if I want to make the boards appear. It's slightly annoying

it fucks with their swindle
the fucking faggots wanted to artificially limit supply to drive prices up
enter: the chinks
undercutting everyone

and that pits the datacenter lobby against the ram manufacturers lobby
msft, amazon vs nvidia, crucial
>>
how would they sell the chips abroad
sure china doesnt have robust way to handle ip theft but other countries do and you cant export those products that are high profile and made on stolen tech

like you cant buy many chink phones in usa
>>
>>107718033
they dont need to. china has an economy that's big enough to make clone chips profitable
>>

>uhh how do I buy Chinese DRAM when they're banned in my country

The same way China bought Nvidia's H100 when it was initially banned there.
>>
>>107718033
they have unrestricted access to all of brics, all of africa + several european countries
and its not like these countries would see cheap ram as a bad thing

like i noted here: >>107718032
even in the us there may be a lack of sanctions because cheap chink ram creates conflict between two powerful lobbies, which usually work together (and the us is ran by big corpos, if i need to spell it out)

Why are these things still made and used? Most phones don't include a slot for them, and they're the only device small (if modern phones can even be called that) enough to justify using them over a full size card. I know the Switch and Steam Deck use them, but those are also big enough that they surely could've made them with full-size cards in mind

>The development comes a little over a year after the tech giant [Google] disclosed that its transition to Rust led to a decline in memory safety vulnerabilities from 223 in 2019 to less than 50 in 2024.

>The company pointed out that Rust code requires fewer revisions, necessitating about 20% fewer revisions than their C++ counterparts, and has contributed to a decreased rollback rate, thereby improving overall development throughput.

>We adopted Rust for its security and are seeing a 1000x reduction in memory safety vulnerability density compared to Android's C and C++ code. But the biggest surprise was Rust's impact on software delivery," Google's Jeff Vander Stoep said. "With Rust changes having a 4x lower rollback rate and spending 25% less time in code review, the safer path is now also the faster one

>With roughly 5 million lines of Rust in the Android platform and one potential memory safety vulnerability found (and fixed pre-release), our estimated vulnerability density for Rust is 0.2 vuln per 1 million lines (MLOC).

>Our historical data for C and C++ shows a density of closer to 1,000 memory safety vulnerabilities per MLOC. Our Rust code is currently tracking at a density orders of magnitude lower: a more than 1000x reduction.

You don't have to use index op. You can use <T as SliceIndex>::get() on any container type.
Panics are better than abort because one unwinds the stack, triggering destruction and can be caught.

ls, cd, cp, mv, rm, and grep solve most file management problems.

However, once a media collection becomes large you may want a dedicated tool. Terminals are outdated technology for this task though. You can get thumbnails these days but it seems like such a hack. It would be better if people stopped making TUI programs and just made GUIs with TUI aesthetics and keyboard centric controls.

The last use of TUI programs seems to be the client server model that allows one to use them over SSH, but are ANSI escape sequences still the best way to do this? In any case, if I'm not running a program remotely, there's no need to emulate a terminal. The ancient X Window System shows we don't need terminal emulators for remote access anyway.

surprised to see only two mentions of vifm in this entire thread. compared to other terminal FM, it flies under the radar. but if you're familiar with vim, its the best one.

a lot of people are saying they rely only on the command line. i used to be like this but being able to visualize your files + convenient actions make it worth it
