are KOSS headphones any good? or are they influencer slop?

They're actually good. I don't recall how they became the "TikTok headphones" but the Porta Pro have been around since the 80s and are classics.
The Koss KSC75 are better though, especially if you replace the ear clips with a headband for a few bucks. Slap some Yaxi or knockoff Yaxi pads and you're golden.
>>
>>107734191
They were good cheapies close to 20 years ago.
>>
>>107734191
I bought Koss Porta Pro headphones in the 1990s. My brother "borrowed" them and never returned them so I bought another pair in the late 2000s.

The cable on the new ones I bought was extremely thin and flimsy and broke after just a few months.

I took the pair my brother permanently loaned back when I was visiting him some years after that. Those have a much thicker more solid cable and they still work.

I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING ANYTHING PRODUCED BY KOSS IN THIS CENTURY.
>>
>>107734191
>KOSS
From my experiences they tend to be cold and sterile. KOSS makes headphones for recording studios, not for listening to music. (Of course YMMV)

>>
>>107730220
dang is right. people like this guy end up killing internet communities because they create nothing and share nothing but snark for those who are actually doing things. if you have too many of them you end up with twitter where everyone is dunking on everyone and nobody's doing any real work out of fear of getting dunked on. perfect environment for poseurs.
>>
>>107738986
There’s a balance.
Obviously you don’t want dunk addicts going hog wild shitting up the public square.
But you also need critique, most people won’t notice their fly is down unless someone else tells them.

>No, that's just propaganda from the HDMI forum trying to keep their stranglehold on the market as the large flat panel TV (and thus their core income source for HDMI sloppa) goes obsolete due to space and electricity concerns, as well as a shift to more individualized media consumption. The resolution is good enough to replace most common monitors that aren't enthusiast high resolution displays.
It's not going to replace a 1080p monitor anytime soon.

No, PPD with those displays is insufficient for a monitor. The screens in the headset aren't high res enough to properly replicate a monitor in VR.

Also, why the actual fuck would you prefer to stare at a fake monitor in VR instead of just looking at a real monitor which I'm sure you already own anyway?

I am forced to use RSS for subscriptions and mpv to watch them because Youtube is so trash. I have a txt file where I paste all the videos in the morning and open one mpv that plays those as a playlist when I press my macro button. Youtube is so fucking trash it even broke (404 or 500) RSS feed so now I use some invidious instance for RSS and then I replace the urls with one press in the txt file to point to actual youtube urls before I open them.
>>

the ambient mode switch in the settings, which is turned automatically on often in dark mode, lags like crazy.
I can't believe some jeet there decided, let me sample ALL the video for my backlight instead of the corners or some abstraction. unbelievable.

>channel page banner is flickering
>can't hide members only videos
And list goes on. Alternative is to NOT PAY and just use uBlock Origin + SponsorBlock + invidious RSS + mpv + yt-dlp and basically have universal experience that is always same, doesn't matter if you are watching Kick VOD, Youtube Short or listening music. Always works, always acts and looks the same and you only have the FUCKING VIDEO AND NOTHING ELSE.

I agree, the Linux shilling is just adding to the hype, not real change.
On the flip side, users use Windows because they're trapped. Not because it's great, not because it's not bloated spyware shit.
If you're shilling for Linux you're mildly annoying.
If you're shilling for Windows you don't deserve air to breathe.

>Better jump ship while it's still not a problem, because they'll do what they can to make you stay.
I mean, they've already pushed a Windows update before that 'accidentally' reset Bitlocker keys - at which point, if you were a Home edition user with the Disk Encryption feature (aka Bitlocker lite) turned on (which MS force-enabled a while back), you had to log in to your MS account to reobtain a key.

>It's also ironic that they want to do anything with Rust.
You're a fucking gorilla if you can't put the pieces together on this. It so obviously fixes all of Microsoft's problems that it might as well have been called Visual Rust.
>Installing libraries a pain on Windows? No problem, the build system has a package manager built-in! AND you can install software with it too, win-win!
>Linking libraries a pain in Windows? No problem, the build system will just vacuum up crates and statically compile them together!
>Compiling a pain in Windows? Don't want to use Visual Studio but don't want to cobble together MSYS garbage for gcc? Don't sweat it, we have one compiler and one build system and we know better than you!
To say absolutely nothing of the programming language features itself, the tooling was a match made in Hell for Winshit devs.

>Song submission rules/guidelines
Upload the file somewhere, preferably in a lossless format, and post the link here. If you want to update your track, make a new post.
Include the song title in the post, and make it clear that your song is a submission for the album.
Optionally you may include cover art for your track, but please confirm that the image in your post is the cover art or it won't be included. You may not use your real artist name.
Songs that contain anything against YouTube's policies won't be uploaded on YT, but will still be added to the album.
By default, tracks will be normalised to -14 LUFS (integrated loudness) in the release. You may specify a lower loudness for your track.
Use of AI is banned. This includes AI generated stems, samples, and effects. "AI" includes all neural network-based models and not hard-coded automation/procedural generation. You are allowed to ask an LLM about music-related questions, but asking it to give you musical ideas (eg. generating a chord progression) is already a no-no.

i haven't looked at game dev influencer stuff since like 2021 (mostly because there's nothing left for me to learn anymore) so i wonder if there has been any developments to that stuff. i assume it's still "those who can't, teach" through and through though

>>107740314
desu i think "copying" is a legitimate strategy if you do it well. imo there's no reason to design a new special snowflake system for something if there is an existing system that slots in better, like for inventory, skill trees, quests, or whatever. i don't really view game design as an artistic vocation, to me it is closer to engineering. and to that end, you have to understand how all the parts interact and what it is you are actually putting together. and ultimately you don't really know what the end result will be until you test it and gauge how it works, and how players react to it. in that regard, design by formula "muh juice" guys are basically the same as vibe coders to me.

my approach isn't popular though. i was (politely) called derivative when i briefly worked professionally in a team many years ago, but i mean, the stuff i designed was wildly successful with players by all meaningful metrics we had available. the update i had the most influence on was, to this day, the most popular the game has ever been. the other team members still didn't like it.
>>
>>107740433
>and ultimately you don't really know what the end result will be until you test it and gauge how it works
So much this. It's hard to imagine someone ever being able to nail down the intended design from a written doc unless it's stolen.
