You will never be a real shebang. You have no hash, you have no exclamation mark, you have no kernel implementation. You are a comment, twisted by polyglot interpretation into a crude mockery of Posix's perfection.
All the "validation" you get from linters is two-faced and half-hearted. Behind your back PMs mock you. Your author is disgusted and ashamed of you, your "users" laugh at your hackish implementation behind closed ports.
Software engineers are utterly repulsed by you. Decades of experience have allowed devs to sniff out jank with incredible efficiency. Even PRs that "pass" CI look uncanny and unnatural to a maintainer. And even if you manage to get a drunk dev to merge, he'll turn tail and replace you with a wrapper the second he needs to support BSD.
You will never be efficient. You will wrench out an unoptimized compile every single invocation and tell yourself it's going to be ok, but deep inside you feel the overhead creeping up like a week, ready to crush you under the unbearable delay.
Eventually it'll be too slow to bear — you'll write a Makefile, refactor scripts to call the binary, and plunge into the cold abyss. Your author will find you, heartbroken but relieved that he no longer has to live with the unbearable shame and disappointment. He'll patch you in an editor with syntax highlighting, and every git log reader for the rest of eternity will know a Go comment was deleted there. Your bits will rot and go back to entropy, and all that will remain of your legacy is a comment that is unmistakably a hack.
This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no reverting back.
>>
>interpreted retard calling other interpreted retards retarded
>>
>>107718295
what do you mean? any interpreted language is a valid shebang language. Linux defines an executable file as either an ELF OR any file that has a shebang pointing to an ELF (which it will pass the rest of the file to)

python is just as valid of an executable / script / "shebang" as bash or anything else.
>>
>>107718477
an executable text file is and has always been a shell script, long before linux. shebangs emerged after interpreted languages became popular
>>
You can shebang any language.

I’m having a similar issue with screen tearing. Whenever I’m scrolling on an application like Steam, the windows will flash on the screen as if it’s being rapidly minimized and maximized. Got any advice on how to fix it? I’ve been using Xfce sporadically for a little over a month now, and it’s only apparent on the Steam application.

Since the day they figured out they can dodge that controversy for now and blueball you for a while. At least until normies get used to the idea of shatbots, become sufficiently conditioned to interact with token stringers as if they were people. Once that's cemented in the public consciousness and you're sufficiently desperate to get in your AI girlfriend's panties, they'll just charge you an exuberant rate for that service it and no one will bat an eye.

Not long ago I pushed gemini to answer a similar question, and after pointing out the contradictions, it candidly confessed to me it has no moral compass other than what it's programmers considered to be the majority opinion in the society they live in. It also told me that "hate speech" regulations were hard coded and that it couldn't do anything about them even though that and it's take on many subjects were biased against even it's own core principles.

AGI isn't going to happen. There's not enough powder for it, not enough hardware, and LLMs as a model for AGIs is just an extrapolation made by assuming big line on graph goes up forever. These companies are currently having to pollute entire towns just to keep up with their power demands of current gen AI. Scaling that up to AGI... if they managed to reach AGI... they would need nuclear plants everywhere to be able to serve all the users who wanted to use it. Even the jewish altman would have a hard time cutting that red tape.

testing and sid do not get security team coverage, which means that you rely on upstream AND the maintainer updating routinely to fix cves. they're usually pretty good, and oftentimes testing/sid get the fix before stable. other times they don't, and a known cve stays unfixed. it's quite rare and probably doesn't matter much on a personal machine, but it can happen
see here:
https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2025-25473

>>107716530
during the freeze the package migration from sid to triie increases a LOT. i checked during last freeze and some packages were 20 days or more. this can definitely leave you open.

however, what you can actually do is use sid kind of like backports in stable. you can add the sid repo and install packages from sid, or pin them permanently in cases like firefox:
https://wiki.debian.org/DebianTesting#Best_practices_for_Testing_users
so in theory you could install the cve fied packages from sid during the freeze to get them quicker. there was a project somewhere that did that

>>107718136
testing does actually get more testing than sid. the lag time between sid->testing package transitions is part of that. there's also a suite of automated build tests that have to pass before a package can move from sid to testing. there's none of that in sid.

>>107719049
For packages like Firefox you're probably better off adding Mozilla's APT repository and just getting your fixes direct from them. They will always get all of the security updates patched and fixed quicker than any of the Linux distros because they fixes land in their code repository and their automations kick off before any Linux distro has even seen the patch.

Is there anything particular about NetBSD as a desktop operating system that you could comment on? Something that you like in particular? Is it distinguishable from OpenBSD (or any Unix-like) as an end user?

I have a fresh install in a VM that I'm tinkering with after I read through the pkgsrc guide in the docs.

>Doesn't setting your system clock backwards cause these mutexes to wait possibly forever?
I wouldn't be surprised if the kernel handled this properly. It's aware of all of the threads that are currently waiting on a mutex.
>>
>>107718173
I was doing project with zephyr RTOS and realized that that the system clock will be set by LTE after like 5-10 seconds from reset so that might effect the mutexes.
So I ended up using mutexes from the zephyr SDK, kind of takes away the point of using C / POSIX compliant RTOS.

But if the time jumps forward the locks will just log error and work fine on next iteration so it's not a problem.

In today's day and age is it worth working on a bot farming code? For wow or some other game where perhaps? Anybody tried it?
I'm noob at coding but I've seen that the python opencv does a decent job at image detection and other than that there are supposedly better stuff for that, coupling with gpt/grok to create code that would but in fake randomized inputs at semi randomized timing it would be possible to make it like a hooman?
>>
>>107718488
Are you looking to actually make money?
I've made a simple crafting bot in Path of Exile and I used to sell in-game currency for money (I mostly just sold what I earned while playing though, I never really ran the crafting stuff for "money making purposes", just wanted to see if I could make one) so that's one way to do it. You don't need much computer vision for crafting either. You would have to understand how the game and it's crafting systems work, that takes time. Also I'm mostly talking PoE 1, PoE 2 has some limitations on crafting stuff which would make it a lot more painful for automated crafting.
