doesn't tee have a chance of choking? pipes have a maximum size, so with enough input data and if each process runs at different speeds, it will run at the slowest speed.
>>
>>108508323
NTA, but for me it's:
parallel ffmpeg -hide_banner -loglevel error -i "{}" -c:a libopus -b:a 128k -y "{.}.opus" ::: *.flac
>>
>>108510172
It's either that or buffering the output into the slowest out pipe.
>>
>>108510291
You gotta change the pipe size bro.

Been working on a hybrid collection of single-purpose devices to replace my computer and smart phone, to this end I've been doing experimentation on a number of different types of computer replacements, RPi 2W0, ESP32, arduino
the plan is to have a set of homemade devices to perform specific tasks and not one thing more than that.
for music an ESP32 mp3 player for mobile and a dedicated CD player for home
for a computer a RPi built into a portable DVD player with a keyboard I actually like and a custom linux from scratch implementation that runs faster than tar in antarctica
retro gaming emulation is bullshit, I have the old console and I'm modding them
a lovely e-reader, either build from an ESP32 or a repurposed kobo
for phone calls I'm going to turn an ESP32 into a cell phone (so I control the software) with a sim card module that has a physical switch, so when I'm not using it or don't want calls I can literally just cut it off. I'm going to build this into an old-fashioned home phone with a receiver and buttons and everything
for home development I'm going to build a special purpose machine with an insane number of GPIO and multiple forms of connectivity

the piece of resistance is the pip-boy style cyberdeck, it's going to be slim, wrist mounted, and not make me look like a unibomber. I intend for people to see it and think "oh a smart watch"

how to wipe a drive in a way that is truly unrecoverable?

fellas, It brings me great joy to tell you all that I've finally gotten over my lifelong crossdressing fetish. My 10+ years of pics have already been rounded up and deleted, and the recycle bin has been emptied. now I just need a method of disk cleaning capable of scrambling the magnets inside enough to properly dispose of the "evidence."

I wouldn't have been so paranoid about this before in the past but I was reading about this whole incident here the other day thinking "yeah, I'd probably kill myself if something like this happened to me" so I really wanna do this to finally have that peace of mind and be done with it.
>>
>>108509993
power drill and a big ass neodynium magnet will do the trick, desu you only need one but if you wanna go full tinfoil use both, first open the drive up and pull out the platters, just doing this alone makes the data unrecoverable for like 99% of people because you definitely damaged the drive to do this, those arms are sensitive and you almost certainly fucked one up, swapping does no good either because the chipset on the harddrive is needed for data recovery, the remaining folks have special equipment to fix and/or transplant the necessaries
so after you dismantle the things you'll find some powerful neodynium magnets VERY powerful (because they're used to move the arms really fast) take one of those and just rub it all over the platter, really get it in there
finally take a power drill and shatter the fucking things, or a hammer, pmuch anything that'll actually physically destroy the platters, unless you have the nuclear launch codes or some shit no one is going to put in the effort to try to rebuild a broken platter

everything is fucking AIfags in the ass lmao.
LLMs can't improve anymore and only way labs cope is by over-fitting on benchmarks till the new one drops.

>>108507127
What do you intend on powering that a large battery pack or a smaller car battery can't accomplish on its own?

>>108507559
This, I have a 640Wh LiFePO4 battery I use to power my astrophotography and telescope setup, and it's come in handy in a multitude of other ways, too. Normally, I can just use a 90Wh battery bank with a USB-C PD-to-12V DC 5.5mm cable instead, though.
>>
Please don't, you will likely kill yourself.
If you need to ask this, you've not learned enough electronics or are too dumb to look up edge cases that could blow your fucking soul out of you.
If you are trying to make a cheap-ass multi-battery array of powerbanks, you can do it, but again I suggest actually looking up because you shouldn't need to ask this if you already know some basic electronics knowledge.
Diodes and a basic ass controller go a long way to achieving this.

If the if cases are checking for wildly different and complex conditions it's fair to use them, if you're just doing if x="hi" else if x="bye" else if x="tie" etc etc then there's no reason to not just use a switch case for your sanitys sake.
I can't stand the verboseness of 5+ if statements in a row.

futures in general can be used for the same thing. hell you can write your own enum-using state machine for the same effect, but yes, for an actual usable async runtime, tokio exists with the benefit of not being stackful garbage that can't interop without insane levels of bloat: wasm, c ff, etc.

I've heard it being compared to a nurse's job: "whereas, in a way, it may sound titillating enough for people that work as a nurse to get to see people's genitals all day, one quickly grows out of it when faced with the reality of piss, shit and boils". That's how it feels about snooping on people's nudies.
