How do you like your e-readers? Have you installed non-standard firmware?

No. The custom firmware isn't as solid as I'd like it to be.

I want to get an e reader for it's portable nature instead of lugging books around working and traveling.

So a new version of Mint came out since I put it on my pc, am I supposed to upgrade to a newer version?

Also should I just distro hop? What's the best distro for gaming? I heard about Bazzite, but it has some weird tranny shit going on with it and someone on here told me it was just Fedora with stuff tacked on. Is Fedora good for gaming?
>>
>>107716638
>The drive unevenness here is weird because both should be able to reach >170MB/s 30% in
Actually scratch that, it seems it's just an iostat accounting/presentation issue during the switch between write and read phases of the benchmark, this was the next output, which already includes a few reads:
                                             capacity operations bandwidth
pool alloc free read write read write
----------------------------------------- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- -----
xxxx 1.12T 2.51T 7 172 7.40M 172M
mirror-0 1.12T 2.51T 7 172 7.40M 172M
ata-ST4000VN008-2DR166 - - 1 122 1.80M 122M
ata-ST4000VN006-3CW104 - - 5 49 5.60M 50.0M

Taken together they are roughly even, but only when writing. I don't get it.

>>107716749
Fedora if you want to set things up yourself, Nobara if you're lazy and don't mind that it's being maintained by one person and a few helping hands at best.
>>
>>107715978
ZFS is much more given to fragmentation even compared to btrfs much less ext4. Their solution is always moar spindles or add flash.
>>
>>107716832
Well, this is still a new pool and I still have the original copies of its data, so I suppose I could destroy it and see if btrfs raid 1 does any better.

how come we can't have 3 button mouses like this anymore?
the mouse scroll is prone to breaking, and the mouse3 click is just uncomfortable to use
if I had just a regular button for mouse3 I could click to hold-and-scroll a page with ease and the mouse would never break

there's at least this mouse that has a regular middle button. it also has a scroll wheel and it's also a middle button but you can unassign or reassign either/any button to a different action

>>107716714
mouse4 and mouse5 are thumb buttons and are quite standard. default action is to move back and forth in page history
>>
>>107716651
I have been using computers since 1995 and I have never had a scroll wheel break.
What the fuck are you doing that gums up a scroll wheel?
Have you tried NOT eating at your machine or better yet not using your cum covered hand with a mouse?
>>
Forget mouse slop, get a trackball. So much better, no wrist stress. Takes some effort to get used, but then you'll NEVER want to go back.

10yrs ago even high end GPUs were sub-$1000 (1080ti launch price was $699 and this was already considered excessive), you'll just pay more and more for the same things that used to be cheap because you still NEED and want a gaming PC and you'll pay whatever they ask you for. It's part of the slow, managed collapse of western economies, where things that used to be common consumption become luxury goods.

Does anyone know anything about Comcast's repeat infringer policy specifically? I've gotten some DMCA notices lately and can't be fucked to get a seedbox/VPN until I have no other choice.

As far as I can tell, the following are true:
>Although nor foolproof, you're significantly, significantly less likely to get a notice if you stop seeding immediately after the download
>I've only gotten notices from Paramount, other companies either don't send them or don't do so very quickly
>Comcast has a nine-tier system, and you only trigger a new tier after getting multiple DMCA notices in a calendar month
>Tiers 1 to 3 or 4 are just emails
>After that, you start getting popups and might have to call Comcast to get them to go away
>Tiers 7-8 shut your internet off for 8-24 hours or until you call them and promise to stop
>Tier 9 gets you a 180-day ban from Xfinity services

I have these questions
1. Can the tier system activate only once a month at the end of the month (the only time I got a tier upgrade/warning email was one time at 10 AM near the end of the month), or can it go up multiple tiers in a single month if you keep racking them up?
2. Do tiers go down if you've stopped torrenting or haven't gotten caught for a few months to a year, or will you go to tier four if you were at tier three and download two torrents four years later?

paramount is the worst. comcast is also my least favorite ISP. those emails are probably sent by an automated system with manual review, and in my experience they don't happen at the same time every month so I'm guessing it's someone approves it and it gets sent out. I've never gotten ones late at night or past "normal business hours", but I only had a string and then got a VPN. I've never seen them go more than once a month, but I think that's a business period thing. I wouldn't doubt that if they get a high volume of complaints, they'd bump you more than one tier in a month. unfortunately I can't give you more than intuition there, but I've had friends who have had theirs shut off after they were torrenting lots of different popular media for their friends. They were getting letters for awhile but it couldn't have been 8 months, more like 3 or 4. So I think the volume of complaints from lots of different companies (and this was back before you saw as much IP hoarding as today) triggered a more severe reaction. But this wasn't with Comcast
>>
>>107716657
Okay, thanks.
Yeah, I think Comcast is more lax than CenturyLink was, which would bump you more than one tier in a month or even a week and almost did shut my internet off permanently.
At least I know when I'm getting close to the line, because I won't be able to do anything else until I call them.
>I'm guessing it's someone approves it and it gets sent out. I've never gotten ones late at night or past "normal business hours"
Yeah, that makes sense. And it's the letters themselves that constitute a tier bump, not the DMCA notices themselves, so it's probably safe to assume they don't bump me up multiple tiers at once without telling me.

tbqh i'm not afraid of or against saying nigger. on the contrary i think everyone should say nigger once in a while just to prove they're not controlled. but "n word" has a quality in and of itself that is funny, sort of like how bleeping curse words is sometimes funnier than hearing them.
also, chatgpt would instantly shut the chat down and likely de-prioritize you across several different services if you typed nigger to it, so that's not very useful, especially since you're saying it to a robot, not a person to prove a point.
lastly, even as a racist, i can't lie that "nigger" sort of makes you winch to hear. when you lay it on too thick you just sound like a belligerent idiot (irl not on 4chan)

It was the last usable version. Modern enough to support more performant hardware and some modern software, but old enough to not have the faggotry of modern releases. I still use XP SP3, however If I ever wanted to update, I would rather die than install anything newer that Windows 7 SP1.

I started using home assistant on a rpi, it works but too cumbersome, also the widget thing never works on the phone for some reason, the whole idea is doing stuff from the phone homescreen not going in the app just to click a button.
