Instead of building AGI, why don't we just make humans better? Imagine being able to master any skill. Brain computer interfaces like Neuralink should be elevated to the same level of importance as AI and semiconductors.

Chuck was a good series. I remember watching it when I was younger and imagining I'm the nerd who gets the girl, hoping it would happen one day. Now 29, still never been in a relationship, and those boyish feelings are completely dead.

No, thanks. I live in a personal ignorance oriented capitalism and everything I need is money. And at the moment I gain those money, I spend them because that's the thing I wanted to do when I was poor. Anyway, why you need to be "superior" or "better"? Relax bro. It's not that deep duh

Being knowledgeable about the dangers of the Intel Management Engine or locked down games consoles doesn't necessarily translate to being an expert in system installation.
Not everyone has time to be installing systems and most people I meet don't do this as such.

I never wanted to "hack" on a text editor, I want to edit configs and code.

If a text editor doesnt have ctrl+a, ctrl+c, ctrl+v its automatically shit, unusable.

Micro text editor mogs the fuck out of nano, vim and emacs.

emacs keybindings are not difficult nor do they strain my hands. i mostly use emacs on my home computer but use vim keybindings in visual studio at work so i'm reasonably comfortable with both
i like the ability to have total control over my text editor and a lot of the plugins are so much nicer (magit in particular). i think it's overall just an aesthetic editor.

Is there an ergonomic way to use the trackpoint with one hand? I find that right index finger on trackpoint, right thumb *lightly touching* left mouse button to be extremely straining. Letting my thumb hover above the mouse is much easier though. Am I supposed to hover it and just kind of smack the left click with the side of my thumb when I want to left click?

Is the whole "muh flash memory doesn't retain any data if left unpowered for a year+!" thing a retarded meme perpetuated by the spinning rust industry that we allowed ourselves to fall for? I get that it's an anecdotal sample size of one, but then again, all of my spinning rust HDDs failed after less than 10 years of use (also anecdotal, but makes me think).

I'm pretty sure that if you buy a new SD card today and you leave it unpowered for like 6 months all the filles will be completely corrupted. Treasure your SD because the shit you can buy now is absolutely worthless.

What has changed in the last 20 years?

Image formats, audio formats, video formats, codecs, etc. all are basically the same. No new software that really requires a new computer. Everything you can do today can be done on a 15 year old computer.

What has even changed in operating systems? Shiny buttons, fancy graphics, and more fluff just so people have something to feel good about when they post their lame ricing screenshots.

After so many years, we still don't even have an open design of a CPU, Motherboard, RAM or any component. Forget current generation, if that's too much to ask, but even the ones from a decade ago don't have an open design. At least that would've been good reason to upgrade.

Otherwise, what even is the point of upgrading the computer so often? Just to play stupid video games?
>>
>>107691738
Local AI is the only reason right now to scale up.
It's going to take what maybe 5 more years when you actually need to upgrade if not more.
It depends also what cpu type you have AM4 or AM5 if AVX512 will become important in the future then I at least need to upgrade.

Never changed anything in the past 12 years except for the GPU 6 years ago and it's still running strong. 12 years overclocked to 4.7 GHz on water cooling.
Played Cyberpunk 2077 on all medium settings and it was an enjoyable experience. Seeing people's face pimple reflections in the water puddles wouldn't have increased the fun of playing a single bit.

this is fucking hilarious. doesn't matter if apex, valorant, rust, cs2 faceit or any other league. any FPS is currently unplayable because kids run color/ML aimbots on their second pc and forward inputs to their gayming pc with this 40$ passthrough device. and all the jeet AC devs are too stupid to write an aimbot detection algo that doesn't result in 6 million false positive bans. (the valorant jeets literally used their RAT malware anticheat to check&ban players that stream a centered screen region which is smaller than 512x512 pixels).

Do you think you can write an Elisp function that can check a 4chan thread to see if it's on page 10 (and in need of a bump)?
https://github.com/4chan/4chan-API
- You could use the catalog endpoint for this.
- To make the JSON data usable in Elisp, you could use the 4g--fetch-json function from 4g.el >>107692048 .

What do you think?

I remember my former boss citing some old study about working at the office being superior despite ignoring the blatant evidence he saw with his own eyes that working the office did nothing. My coworkers were watching youtube videos most of the time, and there was virtually zero work-related communication among us. The only times I need to speak more than a few sentences was with my boss when he needed to approve our work. What's the point of being in an office when communication rarely happens?
