When you want to use a program without having to install it. I use them on work PCs mainly. They were also handy to load up on a flash drive for the IT shit I did in my neighborhood for weed and energy drink money 20 years ago, kek.

The only portable programs are from the 90s.

I'm on the left side, I never heard about artix and I don't want to install Arch linux. Thanks, but I'll stick to Debian, Ubuntu, openSUSE and Fedora. I just want my system to werk, installing codecs is already too much for me... I will never do this again.

>What happens on January 19, 2038?
>On this date the Unix Time Stamp will cease to work due to a 32-bit overflow. Before this moment millions of applications will need to either adopt a new convention for time stamps or be migrated to 64-bit systems which will buy the time stamp a "bit" more time.

How much shit is going to break on that date? Will I have 4chan to shitpost with my bros about it by then?

Should I get a PS/2 mouse and keyboard?

The only advantage I've heard is that they will keep working regardless of drivers.

>Does your board even have ps2 ports?
this
>>
>>107852568
>No. I forget exactly what the limitation was, I think you can't press three keys at a time or something, because of interrupts, so USB is best.
I watched a linus video and he said it was the opposite. You can press as many keys as you want and it will always work.

>>107852490
yeah I do
>>
>>107852615
Yeah its been a few years since I had one, but there was this annoying, obvious limitation that solidified my choice of USB over PS2. However, if your motherboard has a port for it, why not? Always good to have a spare keyboard, plus it will work from the moment that the power comes on to your PC, which is handy sometimes.
>>
>>107852353
I don't really see the point outside of screwing with retro computers. You'll find that the experience is more or less the same, except you may not be able to hotswap PS/2 devices.
>>
>>107852353
>drivers
Who cares?
The real benefit is how fast and efficient it is, in the sense that it can stop the cpu to tell it you did something and it has to take input, while USB can't do that, so the cpu has to constantly ask the peripherals if you moved the mouse or typed something.
The killing drawback, the reason we stopped using it entirely, is that it isn't hot swappable.

I hate this shit so fucking much, I'm a EU Zoomer, yes guilty, so what, oldtroon? Anyways people my age view androids and cheapo garbage phones, the majority of people still uses androids, but not the younger people!!! We don't really use imessage or airdrop here (thank god) but damn you are just a weirdo with an android. I honestly want to switch to iphone out of peer pressure. But iOS doesn't even have the apps that I want. If google really shuts down sideloading, I'll switch to fucking iOS.
>>
>>107850820
True, and it's because Android was basically killed. It's been going down the drain for the last 10 years, and the last 5 it's accelerated to lightspeed.
Genuinely impressive actually, they took their one competitive advantage (user freedom) and threw it away.

GPUs actually vanished mainly because of the RAM issues. So it's just anything that takes RAM is your answer. Robovacs, smart toasters, etc etc

Looks like Gamers Nexus finally released a good video without bitching about shit nobody cares about, so he went to Taiwan dressed as a locomotive driver to visit the Sparkle GPU factory that produces Intel GPU's with some interesting guy we already saw back when EVGA existed (Lucas) and contrary to other factory tours, this time he was allowed to ask pretty much any question, even those talking about costs so this video's pretty good :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwrUxG26ulk

and more interesting, is that air shipping (for GPU's) from Taiwan to the US costs 20 dollars and sea shipping costs between 5 to 7 dollars, but air shipping is 2/3 days and sea shipping is one month to deliver the goods.
>also Trump tarrifs only managed to displace factories from China to Taiwan top kek

Vertical video is the norm now. All video is vertical now. People actively wish horizontal videos were vertical. They yearn for vertical video even when they're not circumstantially limited to it. A kid asked me to hold his phone and film him doing a trick at a skate park last week and when I held it in landscape mode he stopped me, took the phone, changed it to portrait and continued. Ten years ago vertical video was considered digital AIDS. It was to be avoided at all cost. Now it's the golden standard.

it absolutely does not
you dont see people frantically panning let and right recording widescreen trying to capture a scene

you ALWAYS see vertical recordings frantically pan left and right
>>
>>107850277
what’s going on around peoples’ legs rarely matters.
from the upper chest to the top of the head is roughly square, and if you want to fit two people side by side all of a suddenly you need horizontal video.

I need a full size keyboard for desktop computing whether it's productivity or playing roguelikes

The biggest productivity reason is because long keyboard use sessions are a war of attrition on your pinky finger holding down CTRL and Shift, so I need to be able to use Shift+Insert instead of Ctrl+V for pasting text because Shift+Insert specifically lets me use my ring finger to hold down Shift

>>107849936
>Scroll Lock
Agreed. You lose literally nothing rebinding this key
>Pause/Break
You're probably safe nowadays but it's nice how you could use this to pause the execution of old videogames. Probably also has a use still in modern IDEs maybe
