I now ask ChatGPT to summarize YouTube video transcripts instead of actually watching the video.

I do this for tedious gaming interviews and podcasts, particularly if any of the participants have that unlistenable trans autism robot voice.

We're entering the era of human slop, where anything made by humans is worse than AI.

>>107832589>It's literally just Linux and Wine. For now, it's just a linux distro running wine in Xorg. But Imagine the future a linux kernel with a good wine userland that could run most of the windows software out there and has a windows 7Like UI non of those BS flatpak appimages and whatever to make native software run well.I have seen how much better winget is because of the already well done Windows infrastructure it relies on.Non of that command line nonsense. That should be optional. So many things windows does that we could implement on something like that. The Linux desktop users all want a unix box not a good desktop operating system. While former/now Windows users want something that just works.

These services need to increase adoption to survive, but most users can't see what the cutting edge models are capable without paying upfronttraditionally this problem is resolved by trial periods or upfront free credits. There's a huge problem with this. There's a legion of millions of thirdworlders, mostly Indians, abusing free trials and credits bleeding these services dry of compute.I have a behind the scenes view of how bad this problem is. I know that it's costing one smaller company tens of millions of dollars, and I can extrapolate from that, that it's costing the industry billions. It's a huge problem and these companies don't know what to do. For every legitimate user free access brings in, there's ten users abusing it. Some companies are beginning to close out trial periods but their new users are falling off a cliff. They're fucked either way.
>>107831851>AI slop and porn addicted indian>not my problemno shit, that's his point
>>107831862On top of being stupid you are blind.
It's Nvidia's fault. Blaming the users is the same as blaming the druggies for drug trafficking.
>>107826302Open source models catch up to cutting edge capabilities within a year, so they are not going to be far behind. AI capabilities are just gonna get commoditized
>>107826302Most people don't even like googling anything at all. Asking the AI multiple questions is even worse. There is already a huge gap between people who search for stuff at all in any form using a phone or computer.
Thinking of trying Tumbleweed. Can I use the discover store to download Steam and Spotify or is this one of those distros that say they are noob friendly but you have to use the terminal?
One command. You need to type in one command to download steam on any distro
>>107832433on arch it's twoone to edit pacman.conf to enable multilib, and one to install steam
>>107831443no codecs need to install it via opi otherwise quite stable no terminal knowledge will be a pain though.
>>107831443>Can I use the discover store to download Steam and Spotify or is this one of those distros that say they are noob-friendly but you have to use the terminal?Yes, if you install either KDE flavors: Standard if you don't mind *krashes* or Base-KDE + Discover if you want the most polished experience possible. Be careful, however, of the "forced defaults" during the installation process as the OS will push unwanted apps for the updates, unless you mark a certain app with a "taboo", I think.
>>107831443Had better support on my 2-in-1 laptop than Fedora or Zorin so its what I have been using. Have not needed to use the terminal from what I can remember except for one app that was not in the store. No real crashes from what I can remember. Handles rotating the screen and detaching the keyboard, bluetooth, wifi just fine. I do have some graphics issues with some 3d games, but I have to do more testing because its not all of them.

In 15 years the future will be us living in dense studio rooms constantly entertained by ai generated content in a headset that can fullfill your every wish. You can be cool kid in high school, a hero in a japanese anime isekai or a ww2 spy in nazi germany. If ur considering killing yourself wait at least a decade until virtual reality plus brain computer interfaces and generative AI converge into best thing humanity made. You will have heaven on earthmost of us are ugly loser incels who probably missed out on our youth. Never felt kiss of a girl or a friend that actually cares. But in a decade plus you can have friends who love you, girl who is infatuated and all ur desires granted.Im just crying realizing that heaven is only a decade away and anons don't understand this. Our god is AGI and he will create a virtual safe heaven better than any heaven human religion could think of. So plz until god descends onto this mortal realm to release us of our suffering endure it cause eternity of bliss awaits you

Would you live inside Wine Desktop? Would it be insane to turn Wine into a DE for Linux like Windows 3.1 originally was for DOS? I would use the shit out of this.

>>107831060sorry buddy but it emulates os api callsthats an emulator
>>107829507NoAll Wine stuff like explorer, filepicker etc. are barebones. Statement "muh win32 is only stable abi" doesn't work on Wine since Wine doesn't fully implement all Win32 api, only some parts that are necessary for some software (primarily games because nobody needs anything else from shitty windows software). You can't.
>>107829507I like this idea, although I'd still want to use some of the more unusual window managers of BSD & Linux (FVWM with sideways titlebars, or the multiple tabbed windows in Fluxbox)>>107831060Nope. I guess I have to paste the following, again...Time to set this straight with a few historic facts. One: the Linux community, and also open source, originally was formed from anti-corporate anti-government anti-authoritarian people. This resulted in a general contrariness in all matters. For example, GNU means "GNU's not Unix." Notice the "not"? Contrarian. Two: many programmers and would-be programmers from the 80s and 90s liked to feel clever, whether they actually were or not. So, to say something is *not* when it *is* made them giggle and curl up in the throes of pleasure at thinking that they were being sooooo clever. "Hehe he, 'not' when it 'is,' i'm so clever, hee hee." For example, an early mp3 encoder was called LAME which is an acronym for "Lame Ain't an Mp3 Encoder" "Oh, so clever, to re-use the GNU is not meme, oh hee hee. And I used 'aint,' I'm so edgy. I'm so clever"Three: So when someone actually came up with a Windows emulator, so that Windows programs could be run in Linux (and BSD too, now, iirc) they "had" to name it something oh-so-clever. Hence the Windows emulator came to be called "WINE" (Wine Is Not an Emulator." "Hee hee, I'm so clever, and I'm sticking it to the man. Hee hee. Mom, I posted it again!"So of course Wine is an emulator. Anyone with more than two brain cells can see that.
keep the /pol/itics to an absolute minimum.
>>107830994What would be the big new feature of W12 at this point ? more AI slop ? DX13 ? A complete new UI with no remnants of old windows UI ? If there is no big new killer feature that people actually want, I don't see the point of upgrading.
