The value of mode-line-format is

I thought it might be mode-line-frame-identification, but that doesn't seem right.

Nevermind, it is mode-line-frame-identification. Seems to be a terminal/msdos thing
;; MSDOS frames have window-system, but want the Fn identification.
(defun mode-line-frame-control ()
"Compute mode line construct for frame identification.
Value is used for `mode-line-frame-identification', which see."

>visual-shorthands.el

Mostly for elisp but can be used on other languages as well. It allows mapping symbol prefixes to a shor thand or whatever the user chooses.
Created it because I want to be able to shorten function names when reading other people's code without having to modify their files by adding a footer with shorthand specifications. It's completely visual and the full name is revealed on hover.

Functionalities are basically:
- a mode to toggle visibility on/off
- add-mapping command to map the prefix to the shorthand (it displays a preview of symbols where it'll be applied)
- remove-mapping: self-explanatory.

If your device could use eye tracking without camera video or identifying you, how would you feel? I'd be fine with it. Seems like a cool new way to interact with users

Why? All it would do is tell advertisers what you're actually interested in. Wouldn't ads be better if they were stuff you liked to look at?

Does anyone like how printers try to be as compact as possible but then say "Haha, fooled you!" as they spring open on printing?
Why can't we have fewer moving parts?
To reload my old canon printer I just needed to open a tray and slide paper in, now I have to open the tray (which sticks out the front btw), take out the dust cover, put the paper in, recover, and slide back in

It would be much easier to believe that them losing their domain isn't entirely their own fault if this wasn't a thing that happened before.
>>
>>107713687
Idk they have good internal releases apparently
>>
>>107713659
Why don't PTs agree to put a DNS server somewhere on a static seedbox IP and assign domains from there? They could use names like empornium.tracker or redacted.tracker.
You add that IP as DNS resolver on your seedbox/computer and you can now access the trackers.
>>
>>107713742
>PTs agree
You're funny
>>
>>107713938
Yeah, not every single tracker out there has to agree with it, but some of them could do it.

I bother because I know that one day my cipher will be broken, that's why I use what NSA fears the most - security through obscurity. All stuff I have to hide is never on the computer, never in front of camera, never spoken out loud, destroyed immediately when it becomes useless.

I'll consider it. I'm aware this is a training wheels distro, but it gives me no problems and has all drivers and codecs I need pre installed.
I just don't feel like trouble shooting for hours and want a gaming distro that just works.
Wasn't a fan of Arch based distros.
Fedora is okay, I have an older pc running that one.
>>
>>107713321
>I just don't feel like trouble shooting for hours
That is only a meme peddled by illiterate Windows users.
>Wasn't a fan of Arch based distros
I would not recommend using a derivative distro that's basically just its base with a DE and some bloatware installed on top; Endeavour and Manjaro are examples of that - CachyOS, likewise, is on the same level as them, except it ships with a dubiously configured kernel too.
>Fedora is okay
Most people jump ship after a few years of using it as the maintainers do not care about their users, and mainly treat it as a platform for beta-testing features before they're upstreamed into RHEL; sooner or later, they're going to force something on you that breaks your workflow - that isn't exactly an issue if you're new to Linux for obvious reasons.
I believe its popularity is because of only two main reasons:
1. Professional Linux sysadmins use it because it is similar enough to the RHEL servers their work with.
2. The lead for ProtonGE made a soft fork of it because he is a Red Hat employee.
>>
>>107713448
It’s popular because the average linux distro is chock full of ancient shit and the newer hardware you have the worse the experience. Debian on a high end desktop was such a shit experience it was almost funny, fedora just works (tm) aside from some questionable behavior of my $4k display (meant for color grading).

why do we have so many tools to organise, group, and access tabs, when bookmarks are at best relegated to a default filesystem? Doing something inbetween would be ideal. Make tabs organize easily and ensure you have to manually set it to remain loaded instead of doing that as the default.
>>
>>107713372
It doesn't even eat that much memory because contemporary browsers just unload inactive tabs (undoubtedly because of people like this). One of the guys was an actual data hoarder though. I got excited to talk to him, but his hoard was like 50k webpages saved as PDFs into a single folder without any sort of organization.

nooo this takes too much effort aaaah everything in my life should require the least energy possible closing a tab I'm done with is so much work let alone the insurmountable decision fatigue to decide whether it should be bookmarked or not my entire life must reduced to aimlessly browsing the internet and masturbation DAE TAB HOARDER lol so many of us

i dont think you understand "AI" its not going to be used to make a whole movie in one shot. its going to be used to make certain effects, like deaging a person, or making them sound younger. Or adding weird effects to scenes. We are no where close to making "forest gump" with AI.

you dont need to be that good when everyone is on pills and braindead from staring at screens for 20 years straight

It can't because once AI is able to make one movie like that it will be used to make 100,000,000 movies like that and not enough people will ever watch the same movie for a shared appreciation to develop.
