akmods building the drivers after dracut runs was an issue for me, as i need to add the modules to initramfs to get external monitors working at boot.
I ended up triggering dracut again after akmods finished (inside the service file) to fix it.

Agreed. Linux is making improvements but they have a long way to go before getting to windows level of comy. Even friendly distros (I just tested this) still require a ton of tweaks and tinkering to work, especially with hardware acceleration in video decoding. In less time, you can clean up windows in group policy and have a smooth experience that obviously runs everything (including ubuntu if you want it).

Is nixos anyways worth it? I am using and I think it gives me value in the configuration files and me being able to just drop it into a new install. Are you guys using it? Have not really gotten any issues I couldn’t have fixed with AI and their documentation. Their documentation is dogshit tier which is sad. Would guix serve me better? I am mostly a gamertard.
>>
>>108534165
Let me ask you this: would you want to learn a whole scripting language without any practical applications other than managing installed packages?
>>
>>108534176
I just felt like doing something different as when I used to distrohop for the stupidest reasons I had to repeat ”fix” things to the way I like to have things setup. Idk the language kind of came to me naturally so I never really had any issues. I can adjust even settings to my software with that language and I always get things I wanted on my pc like bibletime and steam if I have to reinstall.
>>
>>108534165
It depends. If you want to be able to setup your entire system with configuration files, be able to replicate elsewhere, and have the guarantee that nothing was tampered, yes it's worth it. If you don't want to deal with nix files, and setup, it's not worth it.

Once you get NixOS all other distros will feel subpar. No guix is not worth it. The only other distro I'd say is worth it is Arch or a derivative and only because it's simpler.

I can understand devs coding for free out of passion because its fun addicting and happens spontaneous when you know how to code. But why maintain a repo for nothing in return? You aren't making software and going through a creative process. You are just curating software for a large pool of ungreatful normies, some who hold MAGA values. Is RedHat and Canonical paying them to main repos? or are they delusional enough to be consumed by ideological propaganda that they need to serve the community, because the community rarely reciprocates.

A huge chunk of the software I use nowadays is self compiled from the internet so I'm not a hypocrite and I make GIMP plugins to give back to the digital commons. I recommend they just switch to Flathub like repos an alternative because its less work. Because really how do you maintain shit on the AUR that is free labor for zero?

I suppose this thread will be filled with counter arguments like Fedora and Debian's auto pull and build process and I know Fedora has paid Red Hat employees.

i was a racist in the past and got my ass kicked for it. Whenever GNOME (or any FOSS org) bans someone they also report them to Antifa global networks. Shorty after my ban I was thrown in the back of a van by masked abductors and taken to urban gulag camp where I was forced to do hard labor and anti fascist educational programming. I'm already released and a better person, I no longer post screenshots in GIMP of the n word in bold text or dehumanize people.

Psyops. Same reason why social media companies do it for free. The ability to control what people see, the ability to influence elections with your algorithms, the ability to force subliminal propaganda onti a populace. Power is more valuable than money. Reddit mods literally get paid to promote certain things and ban criticisms of those. This is true for any kind of ((free))
